Craft your next big business ideas at the best coworking spaces in Adelaide’s CBD!

  • Functionality - They should offer features to help employees feel comfortable and productive, like office tables and chairs, coffee machines, fast and reliable internet, and more.
  • Convenience - Their location must be easy to visit and have reasonable operational hours.
  • Fairness of rates - Their fees should be proportionate to their facilities and the renter’s number of working hours.
  • Support services - Their staff should be responsive to requests and always professional.

The best workspaces create an inviting atmosphere that sparks creativity and collaboration. Here, employees would feel comfortable and inspired to develop their next big business ideas.

WOTSO Adelaide stands out with its unique heritage church location on Flinders Street, which immediately caught my eye. Beyond its charming appearance, it offers a spacious and airy environment for renters.

Founded in 2014, it primarily caters to startups and SMEs. That’s why its rental durations are flexible and they don’t have fees for lock-ins, deposits, and legalities.

When I rented here for a day, I found the space relaxed and great for working. The furniture is comfortable, and there’s a variety of indoor and outdoor rooms to choose from plus areas for socializing or working privately.

I also found using Hamlet, their online booking portal, very easy to use. Looking at room availability, rates, and features is straightforward because of its intuitive design.

When it comes to downsides, however, one is that their staff is a bit slow to respond to requests. They also take a couple of days to respond to inquiry emails.

Pros

  • Heritage church location
  • Budget-friendly for startups and SMEs
  • Relaxing space, conducive to working
  • Booking tool is easy to use

Cons

  • Staff is slow to respond to requests
  • Takes a couple of days to respond to inquiry emails

The reception team was soooo amazing

“We stayed here for two days and the reception team was sooooo amazing and helpful. They made sure we were set up and cleaned up after our room at the end of the day. I highly recommend WOTSO if you need a co-working space or need to visit for a day or more!”

A place to work harder AND smarter.

“The staff are the stand-out feature of this workspace, extremely helpful and always friendly! The space itself is immaculate, with snacks/coffee constantly refreshed and plenty of spaces within the building to go to get fresh air, peace and quiet or just a change of scenery. Definitely a place to work harder AND smarter.”

The Innovation Factory is a great choice for those seeking affordable coworking, as they don’t charge extra for meeting rooms, printers, and similar amenities.

Established in 2020, the space aims to support small business launches, and they’ve delivered on that vision. Most of their renters are SME owners.

I also appreciate their regular networking events for entrepreneurs across different industries. These events are well-structured, leading to productive sessions.

In terms of downsides, however, they’re easily fully booked. I also feel that their decor can be further improved, as it looks too plain.

    Pros

    • Affordable
    • Regularly holds networking events
    • No extra fees for meeting rooms and printers

    Cons

    • Easily fully booked
    • Design is too plain

      Great facilities, great location

“The Innovation Factory is an amazing Shared work space. It has great facilities, great location & everything else you would want in a shared works space. The number 1 thing that makes it so much better then other CO working spaces is the Community & support network it provides. If you’re starting or Growing a business, or working from home you must check this place out!”

Absolutely in love with the space

“The innovation factory is one of the few co-working spaces that ticks all the boxes for what I want in a shared work environment. They have an all inclusive fee structure, the ability to hire board rooms and meeting rooms at no extra cost, as well as a stocked drinks fridge and exclusive invites to networking events. Absolutely in love with space and can’t wait to be back!!”

Mâché Coworking stands out for its sustainable practices, like using natural timbers, solar power, and recycling bins to reduce carbon footprints.

They have two branches on Pulteney Street, and their 451 Pulteney branch has a podcasting studio!

Their features are comprehensive, including commercial-grade Wi-Fi through Gigabit City, keyless access, and breakout spaces for breaks. I also appreciate how all of their cafe ingredients come from local suppliers.

Their design is among the best I’ve seen in CBD coworking spaces. It’s a modern, minimalist style with enough touches to add personality.

That said, their overall rates are a bit pricey. Some also found their staff to be a bit rude.

      Pros

      • Follows sustainable practices
      • Large capacity
      • Comprehensive features and amenities
      • Well-designed

      Cons

      • Pricey
      • Some rude staff

Super peaceful, with loads of space

“Been a member here for a month and love it – super peaceful, with loads of space and natural light. I live in the Hills so come in once a week to meet and connect with friends and colleagues in the city. It’s a perfect setup for me.”

        A relaxed, welcoming space

“I’ve been a member at Mâché now for nearly a year (!) now

I fell in love with the place on my first visit (when I was viewing a number of other co-working spaces in the city center)

But took them up on their offer of a trial day before committing to a membership.

I’d recently returned to Adelaide after living abroad for a number of years, so I was looking for both a place to work from and a community to be a part of. I got both, in spades.

Mâché is such a relaxed, welcoming space. Bright, happy and lovely people 🫶”

Hub Adelaide is a great choice for businesses of all sizes, offering a wide range of facilities and amenities. Like Hub’s other branches, it sports a chic, modern design.

What they provide is comprehensive, including cafes with professional baristas, end-of-trip facilities (storage space for people who jog or bike to work), and parents’ spaces. Most are also included in their membership plans.

In addition, they have one of the largest capacities among coworking spaces in the CBD.

Now in terms of downsides, one is that their day passes are pricey. Also, a minor downside is that they don’t accept cash.

        Pros

        • Good for all business sizes
        • Chic and modern design
        • Comprehensive facilities and amenities
        • Large capacity

        Cons

        • Day passes are pricey
        • Doesn’t accept cash

          An excellent collaborative work space

“If you are looking for a great co-working space that is full of fantastic people, the Hub Adelaide is perfect for you. The facilities are amazing and inspire you to do your best work. Everyone is so warm, friendly and welcoming. Mahalia and the team have created such a great culture. They really look after the members and you really feel like you are part of a great community. Joining Hub Adelaide has made work even more pleasant. I’m getting more done while enjoying what I do more. Highly recommend becoming a member.”

Stone & Chalk is ideal for tech startups, with a client base full of experts in fintech, proptech, AI, quantum tech, health tech, and more, making networking here easy.

The organization was created to help Australia transition to a tech-driven and sustainable economy, and despite their ambitious goals, they’re making great progress. They do this through the tools they equip tech startups with.

Specifically, they provide seminars and modules about important topics like capital raising, marketing, and human resources.

In addition, their space is equipped with commercial-grade Internet and rooms for hybrid meetings and even hackathons!

That said, they’ve received complaints for being lenient on noise levels, which can be a nuisance for some. Also, most of their available mentors, networking events, and seminars are for tech startups, making them irrelevant to other businesses.

          Pros

          • Made for tech startups
          • Provides seminars and modules good for startups
          • Comprehensive equipment

          Cons

          • A bit noisy
          • Some events are irrelevant for non-tech startups

            It’s a changing environment.

“It’s a changing environment. The exposure to many different business people is positive.”
