Pros

  • Open and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Provides residential/in-home respite care for carers
  • Runs a themed group holiday every month with 24/7 support

Cons

  • Provides relatively spotty responses and delayed updates
  • Possible irregular support provider availability

If you need residential respite care in addition to a somewhat exhaustive list of services, try checking out Total Support Services.

We think that with doors open and operations running 24/7, Total Support Services is one of the top disability care providers in Adelaide for always being active on the clock.

Aside from housing, they provide emergency residential respite for the daily carers of the person with disability.

The great thing is that there’s no time limit; carers can take however long they need. TSS’s team will take over your work while you take a break.

Speaking of respite, even participants are able to enjoy a supported getaway. One of their unique factors is that they offer themed group holidays every month while being supported 24/7 by a fun and experienced support worker.

From hotels to resorts, concerts, and festivals, each getaway is complete with meals, accommodation, and transportation inclusions. Basically, they’re extremely prepared, and honestly, we love the idea that participants can get away and make friends.

But those are just some of their more exclusive selling points. Another great thing about TSS is that their list of services is on the more exhaustive side.

They have services for disabled participants of all ages—from little children and teenagers to adults and even nursing for seniors. Additionally, they offer psychosocial recovery for people who suffer from mental health conditions.

In this case, we really appreciate that they’re not only focused on the physical aspect of disability but also on its mental and emotional effects.

Despite all these good points, however, there are some cons that were brought to our attention. They’re relatively concerning, considering the industry they’re in.

For one, despite their 24/7 promise, their administrative and customer care staff provide spotty replies and delayed updates, even after multiple follow-up calls and messages.

In situations they don’t consider an emergency, they also tend to postpone giving it attention. That said, their support providers have irregular availability.

According to a handful of clients, TSS’s practices border on “unethical,” and their 24/7 promise is rather questionable. But they do insist that clients call their emergency number for urgent matters, so that’s a tip you can try.

Still, they continue to be one of the more popular disability support services in Adelaide, and the majority of their clients still have a pretty good experience.

We suggest trying Total Support Services for emergency respite situations or if disabled participants want a one-of-a-kind vacation.

Pros

  • Plan management experts to help with NDIS funding and budget
  • Focuses on providing supported independent living (SIL) services
  • Provides SIL-funded community housing and shared accommodation

Cons

  • Limited disability support services compared to contenders
  • Only provides personalised disability support services to adults

If you’re looking for supported independent living services, Lighthouse Disability is one of the best disability care providers in Adelaide for that.

Our favourite aspect of Lighthouse Disability is that they encourage independent living for people with complex and diverse disabilities. They provide individualised support in order for these participants to still be able to live their lives to the fullest.

That’s actually Lighthouse’s main selling point: their focus on SIL services.

Housing can be pricey, but carers need not worry too much about expenses. Lighthouse has plan management experts that help with NDIS funding and budgeting.

Additionally, because they value family involvement and community support, most of their SIL-funded habitation vacancies are community and shared housing.

That could be both a good and bad thing, depending on how you look at it. They don’t offer solo housing; accommodations house at least two people.

Frankly, we think their available houses (which you can see, along with the vacancies, on their website) are quite cosy. Another amazing thing is they make sure that the majority of their houses are wheelchair accessible.

We also appreciate that, while they support independent living in general and make sure each individual can pursue their own interests and goals, some houses have in-house disability care specialists for those who need them.

Since 1989, Lighthouse has been working alongside disabled adults, personalising each of their services according to each individual’s specific needs.

However, one of their downsides is that, aside from SIL services, they’re not very open about how exactly they plan on meeting each individual’s needs.

Unlike other contenders who provide exhaustive support plans, Lighthouse aims most of its attention at solely providing accommodation.

With that said, their SIL services are only targeted toward disabled adults. Again, like their contenders, they don’t offer youth or senior support services.

The great thing though is that disabled adults are still in good hands. As many clients have said, Lighthouse Disability is excellent as both a workplace and a care provider.

But if you’re looking for more specific services, especially in the situation of more low-functioning disabled individuals, you may want to check out other providers.

Still, if you or your disabled loved one is looking to live more independently, we still recommend benefiting from the convenience that Lighthouse Disability provides.

Pros

  • Exceptional convenience and prompt response time
  • Stellar reputation and track record
  • Wide range of comprehensive services
  • Affordable pricing options

Cons

  • Can get pretty busy during peak days

From the moment we reached out to SACARE, we were swept off our feet by their exceptional level of convenience.

Their response time was faster than a cheetah on roller skates, and their staff was more organized than a Marie Kondo fan club. We were impressed!

When it comes to reputation, SACARE is like the Beyoncé of disability support companies. They have a track record that would make Usain Bolt jealous.

They’re known for going above and beyond, like a superhero in a cape, to ensure their clients receive top-notch care. It’s no wonder they’re the talk of the town.

SACARE doesn’t just meet expectations; they high-five them, do a victory dance, and then exceed them. They provide a level of care and attention that’s rarer than finding a unicorn playing a ukulele.

Whether it’s personal care or therapeutic support, they’ve got it all covered like a champ.

As for the cost, SACARE knows budgeting is as fun as watching paint dry. But fear not — they manage to strike a balance between affordability and quality, like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

Their services are worth every penny, leaving you with a smile on your face and some extra cash in your pocket.

However, they can get busy during peak days. We recommend paying a visit or booking an appointment during Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Pros

  • Provides personal care and household assistance
  • Heavily promotes community participation and collaboration
  • Registered NDIS provider of day programs for 18+ individuals
  • Offers funding for travel and transport assistance all over Adelaide

Cons

  • No emergency support services provided

Ross Care Disability Service Provider is one of the top disability support services in Adelaide for community building between disabled individuals and families.

Aside from providing essential disability care services, we appreciate the fact that Ross Care goes above and beyond by offering assistance regarding personal care and domestic household tasks that are difficult to perform alone.

We also admire that they offer supported individual living in combination with the development of life skills so individuals can live as autonomously as possible.

With the help of their qualified staff, individuals gradually become on their way to being able to partake in the SIL services.

Speaking of which, while one of Ross Care’s cons is that they don’t offer emergency services, they do assist clients with short-term or medium-term accommodation.

They have group homes that are staffed around the clock, which means that individuals have active support 24/7. Basically, assistance is available when they need it, but they can live independently and achieve their own goals throughout the day.

Ross Care also has respite care, which not a lot of providers offer. Respite care is a notable service, specifically for people living with disabled individuals.

Another thing we like is that they’re pretty big on community building.

Whether it be between the disabled community, their families, and the staff, Ross Care holds civic and social activities that strengthen team collaboration.

That said, they’re also a registered NDIS provider of day programs.

Disabled individuals over 18 years old (mostly those who are unsure of what to do during the day) are welcome to participate. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends, do recreational activities, and even develop basic life skills like cooking.

One other factor that makes Ross Care one of the best disability service providers in Adelaide is their transport assistance. Clients won’t need to take difficult public transport that’s typically inaccessible.

You may think that there would be a limit to this particular service, but they actually offer to take clients around literally anywhere in Adelaide.

From school or work to doctor’s appointments to visiting friends’ houses, Ross Care’s transport team is available 24/7. Just make sure to book prior.

Despite their 24/7 support, the only downside is that they don’t have specific services for emergency situations. However, as we said, clients appreciate that Ross Care actually does an excellent job at adapting their services to any situation.

So for disabled individuals who want a sense of belonging or those who need specific assistance—be it regarding personal care, domestic tasks, or transport—we recommend giving Ross Care Disability Service Provider a call.

Pros

  • Provides both short-term and emergency accommodation
  • Offers a range of learning and lifestyle programs in The Hub
  • Offers school holiday programs and community social activities
  • Practices special disability accommodation under the NDIS
  • Provides both supported independent living and in-home care solutions

Cons

  • No allied health services and support provided

For a complete care package at a reasonable price range, we recommend checking out AEON Disability Support Services.

From housing to recreational programs, this provider has just about everything we’re looking for in an Adelaide disabled care service.

Let’s start with their accommodation options. We like that there’s a choice between short-term and general SIL. In both of these, they provide disabled individuals with plans that could enhance their daily lives despite their conditions.

We also admire their special disability accommodation, which means that under the NDIS, eligible people with extreme functional impairment and higher critical care needs can avail of funds for housing solutions tailored according to their needs.

Even just availing of their short-term accommodation gives individuals access to a long list of benefits which include but are not limited to learning and life skills development, day trips, holiday assistance, games and puzzles, and community inclusion.

Regarding the last item, we especially love that they have so many recreational and social activities, many of which are personalised according to specific needs.

They even have a school holiday program for disabled youth where kids can participate in sports activities or go sightseeing on day trips and cruises.

But everyone is welcome to enjoy their 360-degree learning, where individuals involve themselves in community activities and social interactions. This is an especially fun opportunity for individuals who want to learn and grow as a team.

It doesn’t stop there, though. AEON also has The Hub, which is a day program where the provider arranges educational activities and social skills groups.

While we feel like younger kids would enjoy this more, adults with learning disabilities are free to join in the programs and activities The Hub has to offer.

Really, clients don’t have any complaints when it comes to AEON. So far, they’ve only received constant praise from clients who availed of their various services.

One client in particular, who also worked as a disability support provider and had taken an emergency respite, shared that his son was happy, well-cared for, and even felt at home with the friendly carers at AEON.

Actually, the only downside with AEON is while some contenders also offer allied health services, they don’t. Not an entirely terrible thing considering all the praise they get for the overall quality of their already existing services.

Again, if you want thorough and reliable, AEON Disability Support Services is one of the top disability care providers in Adelaide.

Pros

Cons

  • Relatively new company

Serenity Social & Support Services is dedicated to supporting neurodiverse children and young people in Adelaide. Their team works with autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and Tourette syndrome.

Each of their team has their own specializations, which is why they are able to provide those under their care with a pretty large range of support.

We appreciate how their team handles the young adults under their care. Despite their glowing credentials, though, we’ve noticed the lack of reviews for them online.

This can mainly be attributed to them being a relatively new company.

We definitely see their potential, though, which is why we recommend them for everyone in need of their services.
