Pros
- Large pool of general doctors
- Wide range of services
- Highly qualified doctors
- HeartPics and Clinpath Pathology are available
- Accessible location
Cons
- Can be hard to book if you’re a new patient
- Long wait times
After opening its doors in 1999, Adelaide Health Care has provided countless health-related services to Adelaideans.
The clinic has 17 doctors in general practice, many of which have completed postgraduate training to further improve their knowledge in the medical field.
In addition to this, they’re also backed by years of experience, so they’ve developed skills that you can only gain from years of practice.
What we love about this clinic is its wide range of services. They offer chronic disease management, men’s and women’s health, IUD insertions, mental health consultations, pregnancy and postnatal care, and so much more.
Aside from their doctors, they also offer allied health staff, so they’re able to provide a wider range of services. They have a podiatrist, a dietician, a psychotherapist, a physiologist, a lactation consultant, and a pharmacist.
We also love that HeartPics and Clinpath Pathology are available onsite, so patients who need them don’t have to go elsewhere.
Just note that HeartPics is only available on Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
Another thing that we love about this clinic is it’s very accessible to patients. It’s within walking distance from bus stops and can be easily found if you’re driving.
The only drawbacks would be the long wait times and the fact that it can be hard to get an appointment if you’re a new patient.
Despite having a lot of doctors, many of them are already packed with patients and can’t accept more. Only two doctors are currently accepting new patients, so it can be pretty hard to get an appointment.
Additionally, even if you get an appointment, you’ll likely have to wait a long time like the other patients. Doctors are sometimes late to appointments, and some patients may take longer than expected.

Pros
- Highly qualified doctors
- Offers a wide range of services
- Some doctors are friendly
- Large and well-maintained clinic
- Accessible location
Cons
- Long wait time
- Some doctors can be rude
After receiving the top accreditation honour from AGPAL in 2015, it will be surprising if we won’t include Globe Medical Adelaide in this list.
Globe Medical Adelaide currently has seven highly qualified and experienced doctors to help you with your health problems.
Some of these doctors are the kindest and most professional doctors you’ll meet in Adelaide. They listen to the patient’s worries and provide a detailed explanation of their diagnosis.
On top of that, they also try to explain their findings in the simplest way possible to make it easier for patients to understand.
However, while it’s true that most doctors are amazing at patient care, some can still be rude, as reported by former patients.
They are sometimes dismissive towards the patients and say some things that can be considered insensitive.
They’re also late at times, causing patients to waste hours waiting for them to arrive. So even if you book an appointment, there’s a chance that you’ll wait at least an hour at the clinic.
On a more positive note, they have a large and well-maintained clinic, so waiting for your doctor won’t be uncomfortable.
Another great thing about this clinic is they offer a wide range of services, some of which are not offered in other clinics in Adelaide.
Their clinical centres include general practice, travel medicine, student health, corporate health, and allied health. Some of their doctors also have postgraduate qualifications, making them qualified to offer specialised services.

Pros
- Long operating hours
- Offers bulk billing
- Wide variety of services
- Professional and personable doctors
- Excellent patient care from professionals
Cons
- Some appointments are cancelled last minute
- Long wait times
Our favourite thing about this clinic is they offer bulk billing for their general practice services, which is very convenient and beneficial for patients who have Medicare.
We also love how personable the doctors are to the patients. They’ve very compassionate and make the extra effort to make patients feel comfortable during the consultations.
They also willingly answer all questions the patients have to give them a better overview of their health.
Another edge that EBM has over other clinics is its long operating hours. They’re open for 10 hours on most days and 14 hours on Fridays, so they’re very accessible to patients.
On top of this, they also accept urgent appointments outside of regular opening times every day to help patients who are having an emergency.
We’re just a bit disappointed that some patients experienced getting their appointments cancelled at the last minute because the doctor didn’t show up.
Some also had to wait for several minutes just to meet a doctor. A few minutes would’ve been fine, but some had to wait for almost an hour, so it’s understandable that they’re frustrated with the service.

Pros
- Wide range of services
- Accessible location
- Highly qualified doctors
- Reduced out-of-pocket fees for students
- Offers home visits
Cons
- Some doctors can be rude
- Unaccommodating reception staff
Located at the University of Adelaide, University Health Practice has some of the most trusted doctors in Adelaide.
Their doctors have provided excellent medical services throughout the years, so it’s not surprising that their former patients keep recommending them to their friends and acquaintances.
They are backed by both education and years of experience, so they’re able to provide solutions to patients’ worries. They also serve as teachers and mentors to a lot of medical students at the university.
What we love about this clinic is they offer reduced out-of-pocket fees for students, making healthcare accessible to them.
We also love that they offer home visits to patients living within Adelaide City who can’t go to the clinic, making it easier for them to receive treatment.
As for those who can go to the clinic, it’s very accessible by both public transport and private cars, as it is located in the centre of Adelaide.
One downside, however, is the instances when some doctors act rudely towards the patients. Some former patients felt like they were dismissive of their worries and insensitive with their words.
We also wish that the reception can be more friendly towards the patients. Many former patients have complained about receiving rude and unprofessional behaviour from them.

Pros
- Offers bulk billing
- Highly qualified doctors
- Wide range of services
- Excellent patient care
Cons
- Long wait time
- Can be hard to contact
Another AGPAL-accredited general practice clinic, UniSA Health and Medical, aims to provide top-quality personal and preventive care to Adelaideans.
They offer a wide range of services, including student health assessment, travel medicine, skin cancer and excision clinics, pathology, pediatrics, and mental health.
They also have integrated health allied services like podiatry, dietetics, exercise physiology, diabetic education, occupational therapy, psychology, and physiotherapy.
What we love about this clinic is how experienced the doctors are. They have over five practitioners that have finished their degrees in highly respectable universities and have been providing medical services for several years.
In fact, some of them have over 30 years of medical experience under their belt, so they have more than enough knowledge to help you with your problems.
We also love the clinic’s excellent patient care. The doctors are friendly towards the patients and take the initiative in explaining to them what the diagnosis is.
They also don’t rush the patients and are very thorough with the consultation to ensure that they give the best medical advice possible.
On top of that, many of them offer bulk billing, so patients don’t have to worry about hefty medical bills.
As for the service aspects that we thought were disappointing, some patients had to wait for several minutes because some consultations took longer than expected and went past the allotted time.
They can also be hard to contact at times. You’ll have to continuously ring them to get an appointment, which can be pretty frustrating.
