Dough you want Indian bread? 5 restaurants that serve the best naan in Adelaide!

  • Pricing - We considered if the price of naans at the following restaurants is around the typical Adelaide costs of $5 to $10. We also took note that the cost does not sacrifice quality.
  • Freshness of Ingredients - We prioritized restaurants that use fresh, high-quality dough and toppings in their naan.
  • Variety - We searched for restaurants that offer unique naan flavors, like chocolate naan, as well as traditional options, like garlic naan.
  • Dining Experience - We evaluated each restaurant’s ambiance, service quality, and food presentation.

I worked in India a few years ago, which gave me a chance to experience their culture and try their food. Their cuisine is diverse, but I especially enjoyed naan, a leavened flatbread.

When I returned to Adelaide, I missed it so much that I searched for local Indian restaurants to explore. I found out there are 125 of them!

After trying many, I found a few that make naan worth sharing. Give them a try!

Roti Pani offers some of the best Indian dishes in Adelaide. It’s a great choice if you’re craving Amritsari fish, chili chicken, or tandoori chicken.

What caught our attention, though, was their creativity. They offer chocolate naan, which was a delightful surprise! The soft naan combined with a warm, melted chocolate filling had just the right amount of sweetness, making it our new favorite Indian dessert.

However, pairing the chocolate naan with other dishes was a challenge. Naan is usually enjoyed with curries, dals, and kebabs, but the sweetness of the chocolate naan made it hard to match with savory options, leaving it feeling out of place on the menu.

Pros

  • Lively dining experience
  • Offers chocolate naan

Cons

  • Chocolate naan can’t be paired with savory dishes

    Had the perfect meal!

“absolutely amazing for $78 we ordered a serve of butter chicken, lamb roganjosh, beef korma, papadums and 2 serves of rice and garlic nan with a can of coke. butter chicken was cooked to perfection chicken was tender and the sauce was creamy, lamb roganjosh we had spicey amazing lamb fell apart and the sauce was cooked to perfection. There is nothing to fault with any of the meals. we sat in and the staff were very helpful with giving us containers and a bag to take our left overs home. will definitely come back again.”

    Simply delicious

“We had two mains yesterday: Butter Chicken and Chicken Spinach. Naan garlic. And rice of course. It was our first time here.

Verdict: simply delicious. Service from the lady was helpful and friendly that I thanked her so many times 😄. Good customer service 👏

The food was also fresh. We had leftovers and I still enjoyed it the next day 😋😁

Indian Club SA is a great choice if you’re looking for naans to complement a fine dining experience. Their menu features classic Indian dishes like chicken masala and Goan fish curry, made with their unique spice blends.

We tried all the naan flavors, and they were consistently soft, fluffy, and flavorful. The garlic, cheese, and keema naans stayed true to the classics, but our personal favorite was the chili cheese. The naan was soft and slightly charred, with green chilies adding just the right amount of heat, perfectly balanced by the melted cheese.

While the naans were affordable, our only gripe is the availability. With the restaurant opening at 11:30 a.m., you’ll have to wait until lunchtime to enjoy their naan—no morning fix here!

    Pros

    • Plenty of naan flavors to choose from
    • Affordable naans

    Cons

    • Does not serve breakfast

      A satisfying Indian meal

“If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine and this is the place you should try on your list. Indian Club SA brings you an exquisite culinary experience and they cater a variety of taste buds from mildly spice to balanced authentic indian food.

“This is a perfect place for those who have low Tolerance of heat spice. if you’re vegetarian as well they do have variety of options to caterer to you.

When you’re heading down and looking for a carpark it will be behind the building or otherwise find a side St if available.

“They have amazing cheese naan bread and it is definitely real cheesy, even their garlic naan bread is the best too. Curry butter chicken was good has a smoky flavour to it and that’s something different. All the food here is delicious you have to try it for yourself.

Came here for the media launch and the atmosphere was so great.

“Thanks to Head Chef Bishnu did amazing job with all the delicious meal and i was satisfied at the end.

“Also to Anu manager who make sure everyone is well look after and make everyone happy.

Also thanks to Adelaide Food Central did amazing job for organising the event for the Media Launch.

“Personally in my opinion i would recommend this place and i do wanna try more other dishes too.”

Indian Curry Lovers is a well-loved restaurant known for its authentic flavors and inviting atmosphere. Since 1977, it has been serving classics like butter chicken, chicken masala, and a variety of naans.

There’s no denying the appeal of traditional naan flavors, especially if they’re only $3 to $6. Indian Curry Lovers has focused on perfecting these classics, such as garlic, cheese, keema, and peshwari naans. Using locally sourced ingredients, they create soft, fresh, and perfectly baked naan—a satisfying balance of chewy and crispy.

However, this focus on tradition comes with a downside. Customers only have the classic flavors to choose from. We look forward to seeing unique options on their menu in the future.

      Pros

      • Opened since 1977
      • Perfected traditional naan flavors
      • Naans are around $3 to $6

      Cons

      • Lacks creative naan flavors

        Tried and tested!

“Tried this place last night, they normally dont deliver to the area I was in but was happy to accommodate. I had the butter chicken and some garlic and garlic and cheese naan. The food came extremely hot in temp not in spice, i enjoyed the meal and so did my partner, they even have their own delivery person and not menulog or uber.

“I hope you start delivering to that area now, if you will only order from you.

        “Highly recommend.”

        Amazing place for naan!

“Oh my goodness this place is AMAZING! Ordered through Menu Log, had three butter chickens, rice and the most amazing Garlic and Cheese Naan. Good lord I haven’t had Indian like this in a very long time. I wish I’d had the foresight to take pictures but it smelled so good it didn’t last long enough. Thank you for the drink as well!”

The Logical Indian has grown from a humble food court stall at David Jones in Adelaide Central Plaza to a full-fledged restaurant at its current location. They’re known in Adelaide for their handcrafted Copper Tandoor, a traditional clay oven used to prepare dishes like chicken dum biryani, chicken tikka masala, and naans.

Their naan stood out for their distinctive taste. We were impressed by their crispy exterior and slightly charred, smoky flavor. What surprised us even more was how the inside stayed soft and fluffy with every bite.

The only flaw in their naan is the limited flavors. You can only choose from plain, garlic, cheese, and cheese-garlic.

        Pros

        • Use of Copper Tandoor to bake naan
        • Offers crispy naan with a slightly charred, smoky flavor

        Cons

        • Only has plain, garlic, cheese, and cheese-garlic options

Perfect meal for a Monday night

“Had a meal on a Monday night for a work trip. Met and greeted by the owner Anita who was lovely and inviting. Ordered chilli chicken, garlic cheese naan and coconut rice. Can honestly say a simple but beautiful meal and have no reservations in recommending this restaurant to to locals or interstate travellers. Will be back Anita.”

          Accommodating and delicious!

“After finishing up work late my friend, her daughter and I decided to try the logical Indian on our way home.

“The gorgeous Aneeda was SO accomodating and even though they were closed and the kitchen was packing up, spoke to her chef and asked which dishes they would still be able to prepare for us to take away.

“As we waited we had some wine d at a table, and Aneeda spoke with us a while sharing her dazzling personality and passion for her young business. Upon arriving home the food was still piping hot and absolutely delicious, we had the butter paneer Marsala, and butter chicken, as well as a garlic cheese naan and a cheese naan. The bread was perfect, the curries flavoursome and complex.

“Look forward to our next visit and hopefully an opourtunity to dine in while we are in Adelaide.”

Diwana captures the essence of Indian cuisine with its rich flavors, diverse regional dishes, and traditional cooking methods. The decor, ambient lighting, and excellent customer service create an experience that feels authentically Indian. If you’re craving paneer butter masala or gulab jamun, this is the place to visit.

Their naan menu featured five options: plain, garlic, butter, cheese, and keema. Our favorite was the garlic naan, with its fluffy texture, subtle char from the tandoor, and aromatic garlic. Its bold, savory flavors paired perfectly with dishes like butter chicken and dal makhani.

However, their decor could use some updating, as it feels a bit outdated. They could also introduce creative naan flavors, like chocolate or pesto, to add variety to their menu.

          Pros

          • Offers diverse Indian regional dishes
          • Great paneer butter masala, gulab jamun, and garlic naan

          Cons

          • Lacks creative naan flavors like chocolate or pesto

            A blessing in disguise

“To be honest we came here because we got turned away from another Indian restaurant, so we gave Diwan a go…

“I wasn’t sure what to expect but as i walked in felt calm and relaxed straight away. I noticed that it’s a small family run place & that it is very clean. The tables have nice traditional table cloths with glass tops, the music was traditional and somehow very calming, and not too loud. So the first time we ordered a few different entrees to share including the tandor prawn’s, this time I went straight for them because I really liked them. They are not over cooked and the spice is nice and not over done. I had the lamb Rogan Josh And I’m sorry but I don’t know the name of some of the other food but I ordered the rice that had peas and some spice in it, and a bread that was stuffed with nice potato…The lamb was awesome. The drinks are cold and the service is very polite and friendly. I can definitely recommend this homely little place.”

Their chicken biryani is a must-try!

“Food was absolutely delicious! Great service and amazing food 😍 could not get enough of the chicken biryani! Definitely a must try when you visit. Their curries are amazing too especially the goat curry which was my favourite. Highly recommend 10/10!”
