The 8 Best Noodles in Adelaide I Keep Craving
Munching on delicious noodles is a must after drinking the night away at my local dive bar! Noodle dishes help me with my hangover and refresh me for the day.
Plus, even without the liquor blues, noodle bowls can be eaten on their own as a meal or snack!
So, as an avid noodlehead, I have some recommendations where you can get the best noodles for your money. There’s something for every palate here: spicy, mild, savoury, or just a subtle and light flavour. Here is the list for you to chew on!

Hut & Soul is the place to go whenever I’m looking for quality Malaysian and Indonesian food. For noodles, their servings come in small plates, as the main dish or as a side.
One dish I always come back to is their curry lodeh, an Indonesian-Malaysian noodle stew. It’s made with vegetables, tofu, and glass noodles cooked in thick coconut cream and spice. I sometimes order additional spice for that delicious, stinging kick!
Their menu also has the staple Indonesian noodle dish, mi goreng. However, in their restaurant, this is made with Malaysian Hokkien noodles, alongside prawns, chicken, vegetables, and tofu. This is served as a side, and it’s best for those who want to eat a small-sized noodle meal that’s flavorful and spicy!
Pro tip: To maximise your dining experience in Hut & Soul, check out their wine selection! They offer sparkling, white, rosé, red, and fortified wine flavours. They also have draught beer and cider, with all listed options recommended for sharing!

Ying Chow is a Chinese food restaurant known in the area for more than three decades. Among the fan favourites are their stir-fried noodles!
One stir-fried noodle dish they serve is Ying Chow noodles. It’s made from their own recipe of egg noodles, served with a generous heap of seafood toppings and savoury sauce. This can be eaten with tofu or rice, making it a rather big meal more suitable for sharing!
Another stir-fried noodle dish here is Shanghai noodles. This one is simpler but equally filling, since it’s made with chewy and chunky Hokkien noodles and deep-fried pork.
The restaurant is also open for deliveries and takeaways, so I can easily eat these at home or as an on-the-go lunch!
Pro tip: To keep up with their operating hours and available dates, it’s best to check out their Instagram account! It’s where they post updates, such as opening times, new menus, and meals available for takeaway, which makes it easier to avoid a crowd.

Kome Kome is a Japanese restaurant and cafe with an ever-changing menu. Their menu depends on what ingredients are in season, so it makes the food even more special and exclusive!
During cold seasons, the restaurant offers ramen, a warm bowl of noodle-based soup, to combat the chill.
One of their ramen bowls is miso ramen. The base is made with the restaurant’s own mix of white and red miso. Then, it’s topped with a spoonful of mixed minced meat, vegetables, and naruto, a type of Japanese fish cake with a characteristic spiral design.
This is recommended for people who want a mild but rich noodle-eating experience.
Pro tip: Kome Kome Adelaide is also a cafe, so they offer beverages! Check out their hot drinks selection, which includes tea, coffee, lattes, and chocolate. Matcha latte, their newest addition to the cafe menu, is a recommended treat after a savoury and flavorful meal.

Bakmi Lim borrows its name from the bakmi noodles, a traditional Chinese culinary staple. They serve bakmi noodles made from spinach, giving it a unique Indonesian twist.
Bakmi noodles are usually served with vegetables (like bok choy), fried shallots, crisp wonton skin, and roasted pork.
What I like about their noodles is that they’re handmade using the founders’ own recipe. Plus, their servings can be shared between two people. They also don’t shy away from toppings, such as vegetables and meats!
Bakmi noodles with chashu pork is my all-time favourite from their menu. It’s a popular choice among customers. The tenderness of the pork goes well with the noodles’ subtle umami taste, finished with well-seasoned vegetables.
Pro tip: Ran out of seats at Bakmi Lim Noodle Project on Waymouth Street? No worries, because they also have branches at Rundle Place, Norwood, and Unley!

Open since 1982, Cafe Michael 2 is a family-owned Thai restaurant with dishes like spring rolls, pad Thai, curry, and Thai-inspired stir-fry. Because of their long history, they’ve got loyal customers!
I love their pad Thai, a stir-fried noodle dish made with peanuts, eggs, meats, and vegetables. Here, it comes in many flavours, like chicken.
The juices from the tender chicken are mixed with the sauce, giving the noodles a delicious, meaty, nutty taste, with hints of mint from basil toppings.
For those like me looking for a unique food experience, I would recommend the crocodile pad Thai. True to its name, the noodles are served with tenderised crocodile meat!
Pro tip: Pad Thai isn’t the only noodle dish in Cafe Michael 2. In fact, their salads, soups, and stir-fries are also noodle-based!

Mama Chau is an Asian fusion restaurant aiming to make Asian takeaway food more filling and nutritious. So, their menu mostly consists of vegan-friendly dishes, salads, and cold rolls.
They have a vegan-friendly matcha soba. Matcha powder is mixed into the buckwheat flour, giving the noodles’ usual brown colour a hint of green. Then, it’s served cold with sliced avocado, cucumber, tomatoes, soy-based sauce, and furikake or seaweed flakes.
The resulting flavour is quite refreshing, clean, and minty! Matcha’s bittersweetness is balanced by the flour and made easier to digest with the avocado. There’s also saltiness coming from the sauce alongside the added crunch from the furikake.
Pro tip: Looking for more ways to satisfy your Mamachau cravings? The restaurant also has noodle dishes on its sides and sweet treats menu. Their spring rolls have mung bean noodles. With 3 pieces per serving, it’s a satisfying vegan-friendly end to a meal.

Plus 82 Pocha got its name from South Korea’s country code. This casual, informal restaurant with mainly outdoor seating serves Korean-inspired dishes, such as tteokbokki, kimchi, bibimbap, and kimbap.
Many of their dishes also feature noodles. For instance, they have gimmari on their dinner menu. Typically, these are noodles wrapped in seaweed and then fried. In the restaurant’s version, the noodles are made from sweet potato, giving them a mild flavour, balancing the seaweed’s saltiness!
Whenever I bring my friends here, we have tteokbokki in a pot. Here, it’s served with jjolmyeon, a cylindrical, chewy noodle. The pot also includes fish cakes, eggs, onions, and cabbage, all mixed into a sweet and spicy gochujang sauce.

Minimono Noodle Bar is a small, cosy, intimate noodle eatery most suitable for solo customers. Their menu not only highlights ramen, including the dry version. The latter has a higher volume of noodles compared to the broth, focusing on the noodle flavour rather than the soup!
One of their signature ramen bowls is the lobster ramen. It’s marinated noodles topped with lobster, naruto, bamboo shoots, egg, and spring onions. The resulting flavour is savoury, with the bamboo shoots and eggs giving it a mild sweetness.
For those who prefer noodles with broth and zing, their menu also offers spicy cheese red tonkotsu ramen. It’s quite filling, with the broth simmered for twelve hours and mixed with chilli paste, then served with pork belly and chilli oil. The spice is cut with the noodles, bamboo shoots, fungus, and thick, creamy cheese!
Pro tip: Minimono only accepts walk-in customers. So, to get a taste of their ramen noodle bowls, it’s best to show up earlier than their opening time! This also helps avoid crowds, since a line is prone to form here.
