Operating Hours:
- Mon to Thu – 11:30 am to 9 pm
- Fri to Sat – 11:30 am to 9:30 pm
- Sun – 11:30 am to 9 pm
If Lone Star Rib House & Brews isn’t on your steak radar, don’t even think about calling yourself a steak lover. This ever-energetic hub of beefiness and booziness has it all, from tender rump to earthy sirloin.
What caught our taste buds, though, is their 300-gram Wagyu rump. Sure, it isn’t exactly wallet-friendly at 41 bucks, but the melt-in-your-mouth texture and umami-loaded meat make up for the price tag.
The steak and ribs combo is also a carnivore’s dream. It’s a diet-breaker consisting of a 250-gram rump steak and your choice of beef or pork ribs—generously basted in a thick honey BBQ sauce.

Red Ochre Barrel and Grill
From redochre_rivertorrenscafe
Address: War Memorial Dr
Contact Details: (08) 8211 8555
Operating Hours: Thu to Sat – 6 pm to 10 pm
Website
Red Ochre Barrel and Grill shows that steak isn’t just for cows; kangaroo meat can bring the flavor, too.
We’re specifically talking about their kangaroo filet, a lean cut that bursts with sharp, gamey, and subtly sweet flavors. It’s also super tender, unlike venison meat, which it’s often compared to.
For those sticking to a more traditional cut, your best alternative is the restaurant’s intensely flavored Porterhouse. They elevate this famously juicy and soft steak by pairing it with a fiery chili jam, so sweeten the heat by getting their mousse.
Tip: Ready to say “I do?” The stunning surroundings of Red Ochre Barrel and Grill provide an ideal venue for your wedding.

The Pink Pig Wine Bar’s rustic brick interior is a treat for the eyes, but it’s their premium, char-grilled, and exceptionally marbled steak that kept us returning.
Scotch filet is our go-to cut here, an off-the-bone indulgence that pleases with strong, buttery undertones. It also boasts a crispy and caramelized crust that adds depth to the already succulent meat.
On our last visit, though, it was the New York sirloin steak we gobbled with gusto. Bigger, smokier, and bolder, this cut took care of our hearty appetite.

The British Hotel has been serving up steaks since 1838, so you know they’ve had over a century to perfect the art of grilling beef.
Their Scotch filet is a North Adelaide staple, renowned for its full-bodied flavor and tender meat. Chefs here always cook this to perfection, resulting in buttery and beefy goodness that isn’t too overpowering.
However, it’s the steak sandwich with a side of chips that pulls the crowd. This pub-style must-have slathers steak with BBQ sauce and tops it with caramelized onion, tomato relish, and a dab of seeded mustard mayo.
Tip: The British Hotel has spaces for all types of parties, whether it’s formal or casual. Have a look at the packages they offer if you’re organizing an event.

If you think we’re playing, just have a bite of their whooping 400-gram rib eye on the bone. The bone-in cut loads the meat with a mouthwatering, smoky essence, while the addition of aromatic herbs makes it a scent-sational pick.
On the other hand, those craving something cheesy, peppery, and meaty can order the Philly cheese steak burger. Featuring a thinly sliced rib eye, melted American cheese, and caramelized onions, this is a bite that doesn’t lack in meat and powerful tastes.

Royal Oak doesn’t season their meat with flashy gimmicks; it’s just their signature steak with a side of salt, vinegar, and your pick of peppercorn, wild mushroom, or gravy sauce.
The result? A naturally rich, silky-smooth steak with the right amount of zest and spice.
It even comes with fulfilling sides, like the crackling chat potatoes drizzled in truffle aioli. If these don’t suffice, consider grabbing the maple-glazed carrots, or corn chips with chili guac as your extras.
Tip: Steak isn’t the only thing that’s hot in Royal Oak; they also throw sizzling live music events. Review their schedule if you want to add a dose of music to your experience.

Keeping it retro, The Archer Hotel blends vintage pub allure with A-grade, chargrilled steaks that don’t need a trove of seasonings just to be flavorful.
Our standard cut here is the 300-gram Porterhouse. Grain-fed and patiently cooked on charcoal, this option should be tasted by anyone into vibrant smoky, savory richness.
The 250-gram Wagyu rump is our second favorite. This Mayura Station cut with a 9+ marbling score is the pinnacle of beefy luxury, with intense umami and buttery notes that cling to the palate.

Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen

Address: Oval Hotel Adelaide Oval, King William Rd
Contact Details: (08) 8368 9900
Operating Hours:
- Mon to Fri – 6:30 am to 10 pm
- Sat to Sun – 7 am to 10 pm
Skipping Bespoke Wine Bar & Kitchen never hits our minds whenever we’re at the Adelaide Oval. Their dry-aged steaks don’t miss.
We often score the 350-gram New York striploin, as we’re huge fans of its lightly marbled meat where succulent strips of fat course through. The dry aging process also intensifies its savory undertones, which won’t be a problem since they have wines by the glass.
Their 1.5-kilogram tomahawk, while costing $129, is also the ideal splurge for feeding a big group—if your wallet is up for it. This massive cut is well-marbled and features a pronounced eye of fat that enhances its texture and taste.
Tip: Dining with a large crew of 10-plus? Opt for their “Feed Me” menu.

Pastel Wine Bar wowed our team with their Instagrammable retro-chic looks. But we’ll be real, we stayed for the steaks.
We made the right choice by going with their 350-gram, dry-aged sirloin steak that came with a killer peppercorn sauce. Cooked to a perfect pink, the steak popped with a BBQ-esque flavor we’ll definitely long for until our next trip here.
Tip: Stretch your savings by going here on a Wednesday, when the resto offers a 3-course meal with half a bottle of wine for just 45 bucks per customer.

AMMŌS’s Greek-inspired, grill-kissed steak has us hooked—and we’re not even mad about it.
We’re talking about the Brizola. Porterhouse filet that delivers charred flavors and savory juices, all complemented by Mediterranean herbs. As if the meat wasn’t enough, it’s also accompanied by seasonal greens and golden, crispy potatoes.
You can even take this up a notch by picking the Kreatika meat platter. This feast has lamb souvlaki (marinated lamb skewers), beefteki (Greek beef patties), the Brizola (Greek-style filet), and a whole lot more meaty goodness you certainly won’t finish alone.
Tip: Avoid drooling on the line. Book online and skip AMMŌS’ ever-packed queue.
