Pros

  • Has many branches
  • Good variety in branch design
  • Complete facilities
  • Near many landmarks and spots for recreation

Cons

  • High rates
  • Slots are easily filled

Calvary Flora McDonald Aged Care is a large group of age care communities in Adelaide, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, and more.

With them, you have a wide variety of options when it comes to the design of your home. They differ in architecture, size, and recentness of establishment.

It’s why they can accommodate the different preferences of their clients. Our preferred ones include the Flora McDonald and the Brighton Residences branches.

The former is great because it’s near the Hilton Shopping Mall and Kooyonga Golf Club. The Brighton branch is near Brighton Beach and Flinders Medical Centre, which are spots for recreation and healthcare respectively.

What we liked best about them is that they provide many ways for residents to have interactions, entertainment, and medical care.

It can be seen in offerings like hair and treatment salons, a gym, a memory support unit, and a culture-sensitive wing.

Clients praised their staff for being friendly and responsive to checkups. This gives you more confidence that your relatives are being taken care of properly.

If there’s anything we didn’t like, it’s that their rates are quite high. This is because of their plentiful facilities.

Aside from this, some of their branches in Adelaide may be filled with many residents easily because of the high demand for their service.

Pros

  • Well established
  • Emphasis on communal areas
  • Well-coordinated for meals
  • Has many offerings for day therapy

Cons

  • Staff is limited
  • Rooms are small

Eldercare is one of the most established nursing homes in Australia, being around since 1959. With more than 11 homes, their credibility is easy to see.

We like their philosophy of keeping their residents’ minds, bodies, and spirits alive through an active lifestyle. This is seen through communal dining rooms, regular entertainment programs, and beauty and grooming facilities.

Another thing that sets them apart is their attention to detail when it comes to meals. These are dietitian-approved and adjusted depending on the clients’ medical needs.

In Hendon, they have a day therapy center with offerings like physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, and podiatry.

That said, a downside with them is that their staff is limited compared to other nursing homes. They make up for this by having well-qualified ones though.

Aside from this, their rooms are quite small. Most of the space is dedicated to communal areas, which reflects their philosophy well.

Pros

  • Has been around since 1946
  • Ideal staff-to-client ratio
  • Good medical care offerings
  • Good staff qualification

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Takes some time to respond to emails

St Louis Aged Care Services has been around since 1946, and their primary focus is on giving a family-like environment for its residents.

It’s made possible through a great staff-to-client ratio, which allows faster response to emergencies. Elders are ensured to receive personal assistance.

They have one of the best medical care offerings for elders. With them, you get palliative, respite, and residential care.

Their care excellence extends to their staff’s qualifications too. With knowledge in nursing and nutrition, they have great training and experience.

The quality of their extra services is commendable too. They provide fast Wi-Fi connection, smart TVs for all rooms, bus outings, and a mobile phone application.

Furthermore, their rooms are spacious and well-designed. Each has art pieces, adjustable lighting, and good ventilation.

However, a downside to them is their fees are expensive. We found it justifiable given the good quality of their accommodation though.

Aside from this, a minor issue is that they take some time to respond to emails.

Pros

Cons

Gloucester Residential Care has one of the most beautiful locations we’ve seen, as they are in Ingle Farm. It’s a large space good for walking around and lounging.

The home has 134 beds placed in large and spacious rooms. There’s abundant light, high ceilings, and roomy communal areas.

Along with this, the nurses promote social gatherings and interactions among the elderly. Through this, their social lives are kept active.

One of their notable offerings is Oliver’s Cafe, which provides many coffee choices, a great location for hanging out, and board games.

We also have no complaints about their food, as it’s prepared by a chef and a dietitian. With great variations in their menu, their residents are always well-fed.

If there’s anything we didn’t like, it’s that their location is a bit far from the city proper compared to other nursing homes in Adelaide.

Aside from this, we found some of their staff members lacking in years of experience.

Pros

  • Comprehensive set of services
  • Has a doctor on-site
  • Accommodating staff
  • Well-designed facilities

Cons

  • Slots for clients are limited
  • High rates

Rembrandt Living has a comprehensive set of services to ensure great care for the elderly. They’re complete in terms of medical, recreational, and functional services.

First, they have nurses trained to care for dementia patients, an on-site doctor, and specialist health providers of physiotherapy, podiatry, and occupational health.

Next, they’re great at maintaining the place for residents. Their cleaning and laundry are consistent, which is why the place is always visitation-ready.

Lifestyle facilities such as their gym, salon, cafe, and lounge areas are also well-maintained. Their garden outlooks are spacious too.

Moreover, their staff is pleasant and accommodating. They’re always ready to update you regarding their elderly residents.

All in all, they’re a great choice because of their complete set of facilities and staff. They provide a great balance between medical care and recreation.

That said, one thing we didn’t like is that their slots for clients are limited. This is on purpose, as they want to provide close attention to each client.

Aside from this, their rates are quite high. Still, it’s a great investment because of their great facility offerings.
