Pros
- Great customer service
- Orders over $20 are eligible for free shipping
- Reasonable price
- Wide variety of glasses
Cons
- Slow turnaround at times
- Mistakes on some glasses happen
With so many different branches all over the country, Bailey Nelson has been one of the go-to optician clinics of Australians for the past years.
What stood out to us the most when we visited their Rundle Mall branch was their impressive customer service. They were very helpful and knowledgeable about their frames.
We overheard a conversation between a staff member and a customer who had a very high prescription and was amazed by how the staff explained every option she had.
Another thing we love about them is their prices. Despite being widely known, they keep their prices reasonable and don’t overcharge.
They also offer cheaper glasses for those on a budget, making their products highly accessible to everyone. Their eyeglasses go from $149 and up, so you can definitely find one for you.
If you order their products online and the price exceeds $20, you’re eligible for free shipping, so make sure to check that out.
Our only complaints about their services would be the slow turnaround time and the few mistakes they make with the glasses.
Mistakes like missing nose pads or unthinned glasses sometimes happen, so they have to be returned to the lab for further processing.
This makes waiting for the glasses longer than it already is, so it’s understandable that clients get frustrated at times. It also takes them a long time to ship products, which just adds to the frustration.

Pros
- Wide variety of services
- Wide variety of glasses and contact lenses
- 2-year quality guarantee
- Lifelong service guarantee
Cons
- Some appointment problems happen
- Customer service can be improved
As one of the leading optical retail chains in the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Canada, Specsavers has some of the most trusted opticians in Adelaide.
What we love most about Specsavers is their wide range of services. Aside from optician services, they also offer eye tests, diabetic retinopathy screening, glaucoma assessments, and more since they have an in-house optometrist.
We also love how diverse their glasses and contact lens styles are. They have a lot to offer, from shape and colour to brand, giving clients better options for their eye care solution.
Another great thing about them is they offer a lifelong service guarantee if you buy your glasses from them. This means you can get your eyeglasses adjusted and cleaned there free of charge.
They also have a 2-year guarantee for possible defects and damages, so you can rest assured that you won’t be left with defective specs.
We just find the customer service to be a bit disappointing. Although they weren’t rude, they didn’t provide us with any assistance, so we looked over the frames with no knowledge about each of them.
Former customers also complained about not receiving any help on which type of frames would work well with their face shape and prescription.
Some appointment mishaps also happen, which results in an inconvenient and frustrating experience. Some customers’ appointments weren’t recorded, so when they arrived, they still had to wait for hours.

Pros
- Offers a wide range of frame styles
- Fast turnaround and shipment
- 2-year guarantee on frames
- Free lifetime cleaning and adjustments
Cons
- Customer service can be improved
- Long wait time
Another optical store in Rundle Mall that you can visit is OPSM.
They have an optometrist in the store, so you can get your eye test from them before seeking help from the optician.
They have a wide range of contact lenses and glasses, so finding one that matches your face shape shouldn’t be hard. They have monthly lenses, toric contacts, full-rimmed glasses, rimless, and more.
What impressed us the most about OPSM is their fast turnaround and shipment. They can send out special lenses in less than a week, which is a lot faster than other stores.
We also love the 2-year quality warranty and lifetime service guarantee that they provide, as they ensure us that we can get help if our lenses or glasses have damage.
We’re just a bit disappointed with the attitude of some of the staff. They were cold and didn’t smile, which made us feel uncomfortable.
In addition to this, there was a long wait when we came. Some customers’ appointments were also not recorded, so they had to reschedule and come back again.

Customer service | 4/5 |
Pros
- Offers a wide variety of glasses
- Offers 2-year frame and lens guarantee
- Huge stock of glasses
- Accessible location
Cons
- Customer service can be improved
- A bit pricey
Established in 2016, George & Matilda has been proving their expertise in eyeglasses and contact lenses to Adelaideans for the past few years.
If you haven’t gotten your prescription yet, they have an optometrist to help you with your eye test. You can even get your lenses adjusted free of charge if their in-house optometrist changes your prescription within three months.
Their opticians will guide you on choosing which type of glasses will work for your face shape and prescription, so you don’t have to worry about that.
They offer a wide range of eyeglass brands like Anne Klein, Barton Perreira, Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera, Celine, Dior, David Beckham, and more.
They have some exclusive eyeglasses that you won’t find anywhere else, so you should definitely drop by and check them out.
As for contact lenses, they only provide Zeiss lenses. But Zeiss comes in different styles and coatings, so you still have a lot of choices.
The customer service, however, isn’t as great as their product selection. The staff were a bit rude and didn’t even smile or offer assistance when we walked in.
Their frames are also very expensive. They didn’t have glasses that could work for our budget, so it was pretty disappointing.

Pros
- Friendly opticians and stuff
- Up-to-date technology
- Offers a wide variety of services
- Huge stock of lenses and glasses
Cons
- A bit pricey
- Closed on Sunday
Innovative Eye Care is a South Australian-owned and operated optical store in Adelaide that employs some of the best opticians to help their clients.
What we love most about them are their friendly opticians and staff.
They were very helpful, making sure they were providing us with the help we needed while in there.
They were also very knowledgeable about their products, especially the contact lenses. They explained every type they had to ensure we’d make the right decision.
We were also surprised by how huge their stock of lenses and glasses was. The store was packed with different frames and lenses, which were displayed beautifully.
We also love how modern everything is inside. They have a lot of modern technology that helps them get a more accurate prescription.
The only downsides are the operating hours and the price.
Their glasses and lenses are a bit more pricey compared to other opticians in the area. Even the frames that are identical to other stores are a few dollars more expensive.
As for the operating hours, they’re closed on Sundays, so clients who are only free during those days may find it hard to look for a time that matches their schedule.
