We’ll start with a bang: Asian Flavor House’s 2022 Winter Warmer Banquet gave our team a taste of global cuisine that kept us warm and full.

For a steal at just $55 per person, we indulged in a flavor fiesta, savoring their buttery edamame, savory lamb gyoza, and finger-lickin’ Swiss chicken wings marinated in soy sauce and drizzled with a gingery coating.

Their classy main course totally blew the hunger and winter blues away, with its juicy cuts of hearty pork belly and a seafood casserole bursting with briny and umami flavors. The cherry on top is the complementary Pinot Grigio!

Foodie Tip: Secure your spot by making a reservation; it’s required for the Winter Warmer Banquet. Slots tend to fill up quickly.

The Wharf

Address: The Marina Pier, Shop 4, Glenelg SA 5045
Contact Details: (08) 8376 6266
Operating Hours: Open Daily – 11 am to 9 pm

The Wharf’s seafood chowder has become one of our go-to winter comfort food. It’s a steaming bowl filled to the brim with a velvety, creamy broth.

Another star of the winter-warming show at The Wharf is their slow-cooked lamb shanks, a herby, salty, and succulent dish with melt-in-your-mouth tenderness.

Now, if you pair this lamb dish with their winter drink, the rich and dark Woodstock Shiraz, you’re in for a treat that might baadly make you crave more.

Foodie Tip: You might love our team’s winter dining finale here: The Wharf’s Warm Chocolate Pudding.

This molten chocolate sensation oozes cocoa decadence with every bite. The outer layer is delicately crisp and warm, creating a delightful contrast against the gooey, slightly cold, and luscious center.

Oyster Bar

Address: Marina Pier, 10 Chappell Dr, Glenelg SA 5045
Contact Details: (08) 8376 3100
Operating Hours: Mon to Sun – 11:30 am to Late

The winter warmers at the Oyster Bar in Marina Pier are hot enough to make you forget about the moody weather. Our fave here is the salt and pepper squid with aioli, a crispy, salty, and tender dish with a citrusy and garlicky kick.

And, of course, we can’t forget about their BBQ-glazed Texas porky belly sandwiches, which boast a heavenly combination of smoky, sweet, and tangy notes.

Just be mindful that besides being fantastic winter warmers, these sandwiches can also be diet wreckers!

Foodie Tip: Try the steaming Mushroom Arancini, too! This dish is expertly seasoned, resulting in a rich but easy-on-the-palate earthy and savory flavor profile.

The mushrooms also provide a meaty texture!

The view of luxurious docked yachts and brekkie wonders provided by Veloce Paninoteca can warm any winter morning.

You can also never go wrong with their subtly sweet and pillowy waffles with golden and crisp exteriors.

  • If you want to add flair to the waffles, you can top them off with cream, berries, and, of course, maple syrup!
  • For those craving savory satisfaction, the focaccias at Veloce are the real deal. It contains cuts of sweet and salty grilled chicken, tangy cheese, and refreshing greens.

The result? A dish packed with umami and soft meat that slides off the bone.

Want to make this better? Have a whirl at their sautéed spinach, fresh with earthy undertones!

As icing on the cake, we finished our winter meal here by ordering their supple, sweet, and smoked sweet potato—a perfectly sweet and nutty finale to a dominantly meaty banquet.

We paired this with their spirits, and our winter dinner ended on high notes—unlike the songs our buzzed teammates started singing on the way home.

Foodie Tip: Don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations or inquire about the chef’s specialties. They may have hidden gems or off-menu items that will elevate your winter dining experience to a whole new level.

On our recent visit, we were presented with an irresistible pairing suggestion: smoked scallops and tender brisket. Let’s just say we were left breathless, and our bingies were eagerly growling for another round!

Our team had the pleasure of tasting the Japanese winter warmers of this resto. Our top dish, you ask?

We’ll go with their gyoza—dumplings with sweet and savory pork and diced, salted veggies.

Foodie Tip: Don’t pass on their vegetable tempura, too. It’s crispy with light umami notes.

Sammys on the Marina

Our taste buds dove into the depths of flavor with Sammys’ nero marinara, a rich seafood pasta dish with squid ink and prawn and calamari toppings.

If you’re feeling like splurging, don’t miss out on their sweet and delicate southern rock lobster—a treat worth every penny. This is a winter-exclusive and a must-taste delicacy, with each buttery and meaty morsel offering a slice of pure indulgence.

Foodie Tip: As you savor your winter warmers, we suggest taking in the sights of the sparkling water, bobbing boats, and the golden sands.

This restaurant offers a 270° view of the beach and Marina Pier, making it a feast for the eyes that goes well with the one on your plate.

If your definition of winter warmers involves cocktails, then Marina Sunset Bar got you covered with their sensational Electric Lady cocktail.

This invigorating drink combines the richness of rum with the irresistible sweetness of strawberries, all balanced by the tartness and crispness of apple juice.

Their Alice in Vodkaland Cocktail was a total knockout, too. It has the smoothness of vodka, the natural sweetness of blueberries, and the zesty tang of fresh lime.

Foodie Tip: When it comes to a classic pub burger, Marina Sunset Bar’s Sunset Burger checks all the boxes.

It has a juicy and flavorful beef patty, melted cheese that adds a gooey texture, crispy veggie slices for that refreshing crunch, and a perfectly toasted bun that holds everything together—the ultimate winter comfort food for burger lovers!
