Pros

  • Long history in the industry
  • Friendly and supportive environment

Cons

  • Limited to adults only
  • Can be expensive

Hyperdance is one of the leading dance studios in Adelaide. With over 25 years of experience, they have managed to build a team of friendly and caring dance instructors.

They’re highly rated for promoting a supportive and comfortable training environment. Not only do they have friendly instructors, but they also cultivate good relationships among their students.

What’s more, they’re conveniently located on Gouger Street. This means more accessible public transport and plenty of free parking available.

They have around 14 different dance classes—all offering unique, different dance styles and various levels.

However, Hyperdance lacks variety in one thing—the age group of students.

As mentioned, they only offer dance classes for adults. So, if you’re below 16, you might want to look for another studio to enroll in.

Speaking of pricing, they offer trial lessons for all new students. With this, you can try as many classes as you want in a week for only $20.

But it can get pretty expensive when you enter your first term.

Each class can cost up to $264. This can go as low as $158 in your third to fifth class. Their fees are still higher compared to other studios in the area.

Pros

  • Fun and social dancing sessions
  • Friendly and caring instructors

Cons

  • Can be expensive
  • Limited to adult students

QuickSteps’ mission is to create happiness through dancing. This stems from their belief that dancing can ultimately improve one’s health, fitness, stress levels, social life, and personal relationships.

Their classes are more like a fun, social dancing club instead of a typical teacher-student session.

We like that they have gathered a diverse team of instructors. You can enjoy enrolling in a wide variety of dance styles from different parts of the world.

Located also on Gouger Street, you’ll find it pretty easy to access using public transportation, and there are plenty of street parking spaces.

If you’re still unsure whether to enroll or not, they offer a casual group class for only $19. They don’t really have free trial classes, and their prices can go as high as $1,140 from casual to private lessons.

Classes can get pretty expensive especially since their programs are based on a 52-week course.

Should you be on a tight budget, you can just avail of their group program that’s $39 a week.

Moreover, they only accommodate adult students. This is because they have an in-house bar that serves alcohol and other drinks—which isn’t really appropriate for young students.

Pros

  • Accommodate people of all age groups
  • Fast and easy lessons

Cons

  • Rude and inattentive staff
  • Unresponsive to email inquiries

Dance Amor was founded by a shy, two-left feet introvert who is now a natural, well-traveled dance director.

This is inspiring especially if you find yourself an awkward dancer. They’ll be the ones to know how to teach you best.

They take pride in how fast they can teach their students to dance.

You won’t have to take long weeks or months of training programs. You can learn their fundamental routines in as fast as five days.

What’s more, they accommodate people of all age groups in their classes. From 10 to 65 years old, they need nothing other than your willingness to learn to dance.

However, you might have issues getting along with some of their staff. There have been records from previous clients about them having rude and inattentive instructors.

With their studio being understaffed, there’s a low staff-to-client ratio. Therefore, not all students will be properly introduced or communicated with once they’re in the studio.

When inquiring, it’s best to call directly through their hotline. They’re not really that responsive when it comes to emails and messages. So, to get a prompt response, give them a call.

Pros

  • Lots of performing opportunities for students
  • Offers various kinds of classes
  • International-standard studio

Cons

  • Nontransparent pricing
  • Feeling of stress and pressure

ACPA or Australian Company of Performing Arts offers full educational programs in all aspects of performing arts. This includes singing, dancing, drama, and performance.

They’re open to all age groups, from junior level to adult. Students of all ages can join their theatrical performances, professional dance competitions, recitals, and more.

Their studio is conveniently located on Thebarton where there’s easy access to public transportation, ample street parking available, and cafés.

Coming inside their studio, you’ll find six large studio spaces for different kinds of classes. They have international-standard sprung dance floors for a softer, more comfortable feel.

One downside is they don’t have their prices posted. Since they offer professional, competitive dance training, it’s easy to assume that they charge higher than those of casual dance studios.

It’ll be helpful for the clients to have at least a price guide. This way, they can easily compare prices between studios and choose the one that’s within their budgets.

As mentioned, they train their students to be competitive in their chosen art. So with this, you should expect that there’ll be some kind of challenge and pressure once you enroll in one of their classes.

Pros

  • Culturally rich dance programs
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Loud, crowded studio
  • Inattentive instructors

Latino Grooves, from the name itself, has a mission to promote and cultivate Latin arts and culture in the Adelaide community.

Their classes are more focused on Latin dances, such as Salsa, Bachata, Cuban Salsa, and more.

What’s more, they come complete with all staff and instructors. Aside from choreographers, they also have an in-house DJ, musicians, and performers.

To top that off, they’re one of the most affordable dance studios in the area. For only $17, you can join one of their casual class concession.

Unlike others, once you’ve become a member, you’re free to choose when and what classes you want to attend until you’ve exhausted the number of courses included in your chosen package.

One downside is their studio can get loud and crowded pretty easily. Due to the limited space and the high number of students, some people may find it hard to concentrate on learning the routines.

Another thing is their inattentive instructors. Instead of providing feedback to improve their students’ routines, they spend more time buried in their phones or doing something else.

Since 2001, StarLite Dance Academy has offered fun and affordable dance classes in Adelaide.

From children as young as three years old, they help introduce fitness, movement skills and creativity to their lives.

We like that there are available classes in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre Acro Dance and Singing every week.

With the way they conduct their classes, we’ve observed that they emphasize on the fun of it instead of putting too much pressure on their students.

In line with no pressure, what we think is nice about their classes is that there are no exams or competitions so all students can simply develop their skills throughout the year.

They also offer free trial classes for new students so they can see if they enjoy it before fully committing.

Their schedules and timetable for the year are also released so potential students can also see how to fit the classes into their other activities.

Furthermore, their style in teaching dance is both progressive and systemic to which they ensure that their students have mastered the previous before moving on to intermediate levels and techniques of the said dance genre.

Note though that their class rates aren’t readily available on their website so interested participants may need to inquire with them beforehand to reserve a slot in one of their classes.

Overall, with their excellent range of dance genres accommodated, motivating and expert instructors, and fun classes to take part in, we recommend them to individuals looking to learn in a close-knitted dance community.

Kizomba Beats Adelaide brings in Kizomba workshops, classes and events!

They’re currently the only Kizomba exclusive school in Adelaide and has been since 2016.

If you’re unfamiliar with this dance genre, we can explain it for you. This is a hypnotic partner dance that’s characterised by slow and sensuous rhythms and it evolved from Lusophone African dances such a Semba and Passada.

As it has gained more popularity all over the world, it began to incorporate elements of Hip Hop and R’n’B.

Their instructors hold a certification in Kizomba and that’s why we think they’d be the best teachers to learn from.

We also like how their teachers are able to combine fun with attention to details so they make the classes enjoyable overall.

If you’d like to try something different, we think signing up for a class here would be a great idea!

They have online resources available, such as Ballet Basics for Adults Online, On Demand video library, and a Ballet Basics Learning Guide
