11 Best Croissants in Adelaide Making My Mornings Sweeter

I’ve been to France as an exchange student. A few things I could never get enough of during my stay were their coffees and croissants!

Lucky for me, I was able to find shops in Adelaide that sold buttery, crisp, and light croissants, just as perfect as the ones I ate in France. I love pairing these croissants with coffee from my favourite local cafe

I don’t miss France too much now because I have these delicious treats right here in my hometown. I gathered these local shops that sell quality, freshly baked croissants so you can have a taste of France too!

Cannelle French Patisserie

Address: Unit 8/210 Henley Beach Rd, Torrensville

Email: [email protected]

Operating hours: Monday to Saturday – 7:30 am to 11:00 am

Website

Cannelle French Patisserie sells a range of pastries made with a fusion of French recipes and fresh Australian ingredients! Aside from croissants, they also have fruit pastries, cornettis, pain au chocolat, mignons, and more.

They sell croissants in mini sizes, as well as plain glazed and savoury ones.

One of their most delectable savoury croissants is the ham and cream cheese. The cured ham provides a slightly sweet tang, blending well with the mild sourness of cream cheese, and it’s great for breakfast!

Assorted boxes are also available, so you can get more than one flavour! This also makes a great gift box.

Pro Tip: Check out their Instagram account where they post the new flavours they’re trying out! For this month, they’re testing a vanilla slice croissant, made with custard and chocolate.

Limited-sample croissants are available in their shop on Saturdays, so catch them while they last!

Boulangerie 113

Address: 113 Goodwood Rd, Wayville

Contact: +61 8 7006 0721

Operating hours:

Monday to Saturday – 8 am to 5:30 pm

Sunday – 8 am to 2:30 pm

Facebook

Boulangerie 113 offers croissants, coffee, and sourdough bread—the perfect breakfast essentials.

One croissant that’s a staple of their menu is their butter croissant. It has a soft, rich, and milky taste because of its generous amount of butter and milk. It also has that croissant crunch, providing a distinct texture from the pastry’s insides.

They also sell other croissant flavours, such as almond and chocolate, which are also customer favourites! The almond croissant is served with a heap of almond flakes, while the chocolate croissant has a deep, rich taste.

Pro Tip: Boulangerie 113 also serves coffee, such as latte, cappuccino, and espresso. If you don’t want caffeinated drinks, there are milkshakes!

Operating hours:

Tuesday to Friday – 8:30 am to 4 pm

Saturday – 8 am to 3 pm

Sunday – 8 am to 1 pm

Website

Mulot’s Patisserie is also a place I frequent whenever I want to have my croissant fix. They offer almond, chocolate, standard-flavoured, and snail-shaped croissants!

I want to talk about the snail croissant because this is a recipe they specialise in. This croissant variant has a round shape instead of the usual crescent-like figure. It’s filled with light, subtly sweet custard and sultanas, a type of dried seedless grape.

The resulting flavour is sweet and savoury! The croissant still retains its crunch despite the shape, and the custard complements the pastry well. Meanwhile, the sultanas provide a unique texture.

Pro Tip: Want to learn how to make croissants? Mulot’s Patisserie offers baking courses, which include a beginner-friendly croissant-making class! Ask about these courses through their contact number, with limited slots available.

Abbots and Kinney is a bakery and coffee shop with an adoring cult following.

There are also croissant baking classes available at this bakery! Students can learn how to make their own berry, almond, or frozen croissants. Look at the Be The Baker page on their website to learn more about them.

Pro Tip: Abbots & Kinney has an order cutoff time, which is 10 am the day prior. Orders made after will be made the following day. So, to ensure that you can get your croissants fresh and on time, be mindful of their baking hours!

Croissants at this bakery are also served for breakfast, and my go-to breakfast there is their chilli prawn scrambled eggs meal, which is a house favourite! These are spicy prawns served with heaps of creamy eggs, oil, green onions, and mini-sized toasted croissants. It’s a filling meal to start the day right!

Their homemade croissants are made fresh daily and are sold for as low as $3.60 per piece! They’re huge, airy, crisp on the outside, and soft inside. These come in a range of flavours, such as butter, chocolate, crème brûlée, and fruit.

Pro Tip: Maison Clement has a vegan menu as well as options for kids!

The bakery sells all its pastries and bread for pre-order. My friend recommended them to me, describing the croissants as buttery and light. I agreed once I got to taste them myself!

I also discovered their sourdough croissant, a cross between two of their best-selling products! It has a distinct tang and crispness and is perfect for people like me looking for unique reinventions of pastries.

Pro Tip: Many patrons of the Lost Loaf report that their pastries and bread are mostly sold out by 10 am! It’s recommended to line up as early as possible to catch their fresh-baked goods. A suggested time would be at least half an hour before they open.

La Madeleine is a simple and cosy French cafe and bakery, serving pastries, bread, and coffee beverages. Their main pastry is the croissant, with its special variant being limited for order only!

The bakery’s made-to-order croissants are available for special occasions, such as weddings and birthdays. My parents bought croissants from this place on their 30th wedding anniversary because they wanted custom flavours.

The bakery also serves croissants fresh in their shop or for takeaway, with a variety of flavours available. Some of their bestsellers are almond, pistachio, and avocado! Of course, there’s the plain butter croissant alongside breads such as sourdough and baguette.

Pro Tip: Their croissants sell out fast, so it’s best to arrive right on the dot when they open!

Perryman’s Bakery

Website

Perryman’s Bakery combines French and German baking methods using locally sourced ingredients.

It’s especially suitable for sharing because they offer croissants on a platter, and patrons can choose among their flavours.

One croissant flavour I liked is ham and cheese because the ham slices were chunky and tender. I also love their tomatoes and cheese, made with fresh and ripe tomatoes, bringing a juicy tang to the cheese!

Pro Tip: Aside from croissants, The Perryman’s Bakery also offers customisable gingerbread! You can order them online or in their store.

Hey Jupiter Brasserie Française

Operating hours:

Monday to Wednesday – 7 am to 4 pm

Thursday to Sunday – 7 am to 10 pm

I like welcoming my morning at Hey Jupiter Brasserie Française with a fresh croissant and coffee!

I recommend their croissant before heading into the day’s morning rush. It comes with Bonne Maman jam and butter. I always apply the butter while the pastry is hot, with the creamy texture contrasting well with the bread’s crunch.

For days that require that extra pep in my step, I order the bakery’s heavier croissant called petit déjeuner continental. The buttery, airy croissant is served with not only jam and butter but also boiled egg, ham, and your drink of choice! Usually, I go with coffee, but I switch it up with tea or juice sometimes.

Pro Tip: Hey Jupiter Brasserie Française also has a wine list to pair with their meals! Check their recommendations online or in-store on what is the best-suited wine for your dish.

Mascavado Cafe & Patisserie

Saturday to Sunday – 7:30 am to 3 pm

Website

Mascavado Cafe and Patisserie makes fresh artisan baked goods every day.

It has a special seasonal croissant menu, which can be availed of in their physical stores or online. This season, they have Biscoff croissants and white chocolate raspberry croissants! The Biscoff croissant is crisp, crumbly, and slightly nutty.

Meanwhile, the white chocolate raspberry croissant has a rich blended chocolate and fruit flavour. There’s a slight tang from the raspberries that complements well the chocolate’s sweetness and the croissant’s crunch.

Pro Tip: Aside from seasonal releases, Mascavado Cafe and Patisserie also has limited-time releases, such as their cookie dough KitKat croissant, only available on weekends! To keep updated with their special croissant variants, check their Instagram or their website.

Jin’s Coffee Hutt

Address: 231 Hutt Street

Contact: +61 402 358 002

Operating hours: Monday to Saturday – 7 am to 1 pm

Facebook

Another croissant shop and cafe on Hutt Street is Jin’s Coffee Hutt. This cafe and patisserie shop specialises in French and Malaysian fusion. Other than croissants and pastries, they also serve coffee beverages and Malaysian meals, such as curries.

Their croissants also have an interesting twist! One variant from their bakery I tried is their ham, cheese, and egg croissant, topped with Kewpie mayo and salsa! This makes the butter-rich croissant savoury, with flavours bursting from the ham and egg, as well as added creaminess from the cheese.

My cousin, who is a regular here, always orders their raspberry lemon croissant. The croissant is slashed in the middle and piped with a generous amount of lemon filling, complemented well by the sliced raspberry fruit toppings.

Pro Tip: Most of the dining space of Jin’s Coffee Hutt is outdoor seating. Arrive as early as possible to secure a table and enjoy coffee with a croissant while basking in the fresh air!
