Pros
- Top-notch coffee
- Housemade vegan baked goods
- Wide range of beverage menu
- Offers take-home goods
- Offers catering services
Cons
- Service is sometimes slow
- Small place
Sibling is a small, open-air coffee that’s one of the most loved coffee spots in the southern residential area of Adelaide CBD.
Serving specialty coffee roasted by Coffee in Common and vegan pastries from Mascavado, this shop is easily one of the best places to get top-notch coffee in Adelaide.
We love its extensive menu of beverages, especially its coffee list. They also offer tea, smoothie, juice, and wines in case you have a companion that’s not a big fan of coffee.
Their vegan-friendly food menu also deserves much praise. They have a vegan bagel and other unique food that will surely make your heart happy.
If you can’t get enough of their coffee and want more, you can also buy beans from them, which you can brew at home.
The only drawback would be the small place and service that can sometimes be slow.
It only has 20 seats, so it can only host a limited number of people. If you want to sit instead of ordering takeaway, you might have to wait for a few minutes.
The service also tends to be slow despite not having that many customers.
2. Elementary Coffee

Menu: Young street blend, Cara Mia espresso blend, Equinox espresso blend, and more
Website: https://www.elementarycoffee.com.au
Address: 9-17 Young St, Adelaide, SA 5000
Contact Details: info@elementarycoffee.com.au
Operating Hours: Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Google reviews score | 4.6/5 |

Score consistency | 4.5/5 |
Quality of coffee | 5/5 |
Menu size | 5/5 |
Atmosphere | 4.5/5 |
Customer service | 4/5 |
Pros
- Relaxing atmosphere
- Has an online shop for beans
- Reasonably priced
- Does their own roasting
- Top-notch coffee
Cons
- Customer service can be improved
- No menu is provided when ordering
Elementary Coffee focuses more on the quality of its coffee rather than Instagrammable interior designs, which is what truly matters in a coffee shop.
This, however, doesn’t mean that their interior is subpar. The coffee shop focuses on simplistic design to provide a relaxing atmosphere to its customers.
What we like the most about the shop is the smell of coffee being roasted which permeates the shop, giving customers an authentic coffee experience.
The coffee also is just as good as the smell, if not better. You might find yourself browsing the web for their beans after visiting the place once.
Just note that they don’t have a menu. The servers usually ask for what you want without bringing anything, so we suggest browsing the web for recommendations if you don’t know what to order.
If you’re a big fan of coffee, then you probably have a favourite already. They can do just about any coffee you can think of, so you can just ask the server for what you want.
The shop is an excellent spot for coffee overall, but its customer service still has room for improvement.
Some baristas and servers sometimes don’t show the best attitude towards customers, which can significantly affect the experience.

Pros
- Focused on sustainability
- Lovely staff
- Healthy menu
- A good amount of seats
Cons
- Long wait time
- Doesn’t offer takeaway
Named after the founder’s grandmother, My Grandma Ben is a place that strives to minimise food and plastic waste while serving high-quality coffee.
You can drop by the shop at Plant 4 and enjoy a cup of coffee and a bunch of pickles, granola, and other healthy dishes that can make your stay memorable.
We love how smooth and creamy their coffee is. They also use Australian oat milk, which is a plus for patrons.
We were also impressed by how lovely their staff members are. They’re very attentive towards the customers and were cheerful despite having to serve many customers.
There are also a good amount of seats in the shop, so they can serve more customers.
However, you can still expect to wait for some time because of how popular the shop is.
Another drawback is they don’t offer takeaways. This may be inconvenient to customers who just want to try their coffee but don’t have the time to sit down.
The reason behind this is that the shop takes sustainability seriously and doesn’t like the idea of using disposable cups for their coffee.
On the bright side, you can sit anywhere in Plant 4, and the staff will personally deliver your coffee wherever you are.

True to its name, Exchange Specialty Coffee serves some of the best specialty coffee in Adelaide. They live true to their goal of making specialty coffee accessible, approachable, and easy to understand.
Because of its superb coffee, the shop has become one of Adelaide’s go-to places for coffee aficionados. In fact, the team has grown from four employees to 20 because of its success.
Exchange offers hot and iced coffee to give customers more drink choices. Among the favourites on their menu are the house espresso and iced latte, so you might want to try those on your visit.
We like that they offer retail coffee in the shop to give customers a chance to experience their delicious coffee in the comfort of their homes.
Aside from coffee, they also offer some home brewing gear and accessories to the delight of coffee lovers.
Expect a busy shop on your visit, as it’s a very popular coffee shop in the area. You may have to wait for some time, but it will be worth it once you taste their coffee.
What we thought was lacking was customer service. Some staff seemed in a bad mood, so their service was quite disappointing.
We hope they can be more friendly and professional towards the customers to not ruin the coffee experience the shop provides.

Pros
- Wide range of beverage options
- Offers kids menu
- Cozy atmosphere
- Wide menu size
- Top-notch coffee
Cons
- Small place
- Can be busy
Penny University was built to create a coffee shop where customers can feel comfortable and feel a sense of community over coffee.
This is why you’ll be greeted on your visit by a cosy atmosphere that will make you relax. The staff members’ smiles also make the place extra warm, so it’s understandable why a lot of patrons return.
We love the rustic and warm design of the shop. It makes the shop unique and trendy yet intimate and friendly.
They also offer customers indoor and outdoor seating areas, adding more charm to the shop.
We also love that they offer a kids’ menu so parents who want to try their coffee can bring their kids with them.
The only drawback is the place is small and can get really busy.
There are only a few seats despite them offering outdoor and indoor chairs. It can also get cramped when packed, so expect to be in close proximity to strangers.
It’s also a very popular and trendy shop in Adelaide, so it can sometimes get cramped.
We suggest taking takeaways if you really just want to try their coffee.
