Pros
- High quality props (great attention to detail and color)
- Challenging puzzles that are rewarding to decode
- Thematically diverse rooms
- Staff is friendly and great with providing pre-game instructions
Cons
- Rooms are a bit simplistic because of minimal use of props and decor
- Often fully booked on weekends
Adventure Room’s strength lies in the high quality of their props.
For starters, their props are made with attention to detail and color, making it easier to become immersed in the theme.
The riddles are also quite challenging, especially for the Gaol Break room. It’s a prison break room where you play as convicts inside a cell, with puzzles requiring teamwork in order for you to escape.
Their puzzles are fresh and feel rewarding to decode. In addition, the game has an exciting pace.
The escape rooms can also match different crowds because they are thematically diverse. They cover horror, thriller, fantasy, and crime.
Additionally, their staff is great at providing pre-game instructions. They’re friendly and get you in the right mood before you enter the escape room.
If there’s anything they can improve on, one is increasing the props of their rooms. The sparse use of themed objects makes their rooms simpler compared to others in Adelaide.
Also, they’re often fully booked on weekends. You’ll have to secure a slot at least 4 days in advance.

Pros
- Fresh and innovative concepts
- Has plenty of props to improve players’ immersion
- Well-acted storytelling
- Easy schedule booking method
Cons
- Some rooms are a bit too dim to read clues properly
- Has received complaints of rude service
Escape Hunt Adelaide has highly innovative concepts that set them apart from others in Adelaide.
They go beyond common tropes by using children’s stories (Down the Rabbit Hole), epidemic concepts (The Deadly Discovery), and monster horror (Great White Killer).
I had a great time trying their Down the Rabbit Hole room, which is a crowd favorite because of its immersive visuals inspired by the classic children’s story of Alice in Wonderland.
The room had plenty of riddles and puzzles, which will be used to defend the Mad Hatter who’s been accused of stealing the Queen’s Tarts. Its colorful and zany decorations will make you feel like you’re really in Wonderland.
Compared to other escape rooms in the city, they also have more props in each room. Some are used solely for creative purposes, which helps in improving players’ immersion.
With well-acted voice clues, the quality of storytelling is commendable. The game masters also helped in maintaining the pace and making sure that my companions and I were well guided.
Booking is convenient because it’s easy to reserve a schedule through their website. They have plenty of slots available too.
That said, I noticed that some of their rooms are a bit too dim for you to read their clues properly. Also, they’ve received some complaints from some clients who received rude reception from their staff.

Pros
- Room’s themes are compatible for many ages and thematic preferences
- Various difficulty levels
- Game masters are skillful in providing clues and managing pacing
- Can accommodate large groups of players (up to 36)
Cons
- Puzzles lack complexity
- Has cases of abruptly canceling schedules
What makes Mindshift Escape Rooms notable is their rooms’ compatibility with most ages and genre preferences.
They offer rooms with horror, fantasy, adventure, crime, and folklore-inspired themes. The difficulty levels also range from moderate to extremely difficult (based on what past players say).
One of their most interesting ones is Hunting Bigfoot, which lets players act as cryptozoologists who will examine an area rumored to be the monster’s lair. The room’s design provides a good balance of horror and adventure.
Their game masters are also commendable for being skillful in managing pacing. They provide just the right amount of hints to maintain an engaging session.
Furthermore, the escape room has a welcoming waiting room. It has a well-stocked bar and plenty of seats.
It’s also great how they can accommodate large groups of players (up to 36) because they have duplicate rooms. Their fees for large groups are reasonable too.
However, one downside I noticed is that most of their puzzles are a bit lacking in complexity, as they often rely on needing to find hidden objects to be solved.
Additionally, some past players complained that some of the puzzles in their rooms had issues. Some locked areas were accidentally opened, and some clues were illegible.

Pros
- Elaborate room designs that use electronics
- Escape rooms are keyless
- Game masters are friendly and great with guiding players
- Can accommodate children as young as 2 years old
Cons
- Rooms lack horror elements; may not be thrilling enough for adults
- Often fully booked
Escaplex Escape Rooms Adelaide has some of the most elaborately designed escape rooms that I’ve seen. Their dedication to the theme can be seen in how they maximize their use of the rooms, with puzzles, props, and decor in every corner.
It’s also great that they don’t rely on key-and-lock puzzles and instead integrate electronics. It makes the storytelling more immersive and entertaining.
One of their best rooms is Picture Imperfect, where you’ll investigate the room of a photographer who you suspect had something to do with your sister’s disappearance. It’s such a rich and intriguing story!
In addition, their game masters keep the game interesting by providing just enough clues when players are stuck on difficult puzzles, without giving too much away. I also appreciate how concise they were in providing instructions prior to the game.
It’s also one of the best escape rooms in Adelaide to bring a child in, as all of their rooms can accommodate those as young as 2 years old.
Compared to other escape rooms in the city, however, I found that their rooms lacked enough horror elements. Adults looking for more thrill may be disappointed here.
Another downside is that they’re often fully booked.

Pros
- Creative rooms
- Uses tablets for rooms to make it easier to read clues
- Rooms have side missions
- Child-friendly
Cons
- Lacks thrilling or intense rooms for adults
- Small rooms
What makes Urban Mysteries Co standout is their creativity. They integrate various popular culture references, an array of high-quality photos, and an abundance of props to help players immerse in the stories.
Something unique to them is their use of a tablet in all rooms. It makes reading clues easier and more interactive, which is especially great for children.
They’re also one of the few rooms to include side-missions and additional content. This gives players great value for money and a better sense of reward if they’re able to solve the puzzle quickly.
One of their most popular rooms is The Missing Professor, where players will investigate the disappearance of a renowned archaeologist. Its use of replicas and photographs of Egyptian artifacts makes the room feel more realistic.
All of Urban Mysteries Co’s rooms are child-friendly, making it great for families. The puzzles are very colorful and easy to read but still challenging.
If there’s anything they can improve, one is in making their themes a bit more intense or thrilling. I found all of their options too child-friendly.
Their rooms are a bit smaller than other escape rooms in the city too. It can be cramped for groups larger than 5.
