  • Large fleet of cars
  • Located at the airport
  • The cars are in good condition

  • Some bookings are cancelled last minute
  • Desk in the airport can be hard to find

Redspot Car Rental is a known car rental shop all over Australia. It serves not just Adelaide but also other major cities like Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney.

The shop has a branch at the Adelaide Airport, making it very convenient for travellers. They’re located in the arrivals halls, so you won’t have to spend more on taxi fare or even go out of the airport just to look for a car rental.

The desk, however, can be hard to find, as they don’t use Redspot for their signage. Instead, it carries the name Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

The best thing about this shop is they have a large fleet of cars. Whether luxury or not, they have almost every brand of car available in the market.

As for their luxury cars, they mostly offer Audi, BMW, and Land Rovers, so it’s perfect for the fans of those brands.

In addition to their large fleet, their cars are also relatively new, with an average age of six months, which pretty much guarantees a smooth sailing ride.

If you decide to rent one of the luxury cars, do consider availing of their Top Dog rate or any of their available damage cover options, as the repair price of those cars can be high.

We were also disappointed to find out that there were instances when bookings were cancelled because of the shop’s errors. This can be really frustrating and inconvenient for customers, especially those coming from outside the country.

  • Offers unlimited kilometres
  • Rates are a bit cheaper compared to the airport rentals
  • Located near the airport and city
  • The cars are in great condition

  • Customer service can be improved
  • Small fleet of premium cars

Koala Car Rental is an Adelaidean-owned and managed car rental shop.

Our favourite thing about this shop is the fact that its rates are a bit cheaper compared to the car rental shops in the airport. Since they don’t have to pay hefty airport fees, they’re able to provide premium cars at a much lower price.

Despite not being in the airport, it doesn’t pose much inconvenience to clients, as it’s only 2.5 km away.

They offer a 150 km daily kilometre allowance, and every kilometre excess costs 28 cents. You may also avail of their unlimited kilometre deal if you want.

We also love how clean and well-maintained their cars are. Upon pick up, you’ll notice that the car was meticulously cleaned.

They’re also relatively new, so their performance is still spotless, and the drive remains smooth.

They, however, have a pretty small fleet of premium cars. They only have two premium cars, so they can be pretty hard to book.

We’re also quite disappointed with the customer service. They are sometimes blunt towards customers and appear to be in a rush.

Some foreign customers have also noted that they drove to the shop only to be rejected because the staff didn’t check their requirements properly.

  • Offers a lot of discounts
  • The cars are in great condition
  • A decent number of premium cars
  • Offers child seats

  • Cars are sometimes not ready on pick up
  • Customer service can be improved

Sixt is one of the biggest car rental companies in the world, with over 2,000 locations in over 100 countries.

Its Adelaide Airport branch is one of our favourites in Australia because of a number of reasons.

First of all, they have a decent amount of premium cars for customers to choose from. They have a bunch of Mercedes, Peugeot, BMW, and Tesla cars, which are all in great condition.

If you are over 25 and want to drive a premium car on your trip to Adelaide, then do check out Sixt.

Second, they offer a lot of discounts for their customers. Members of some auto clubs like NRMA, RACV, and RAA enjoy 25% off their rentals.

In addition to that, they offer a loyalty program that comes with benefits like lower rates, free additional drivers, free upgrades, and more.

If you travel a lot and frequently rent a car, the card will be worth it, considering how many locations Sixt has all over the world.

We were just a bit disappointed with how some of their staff treated the customers. While they weren’t rude, they provided little assistance to some customers.

They gave short and unhelpful answers to some of the questions and were hard to contact at times.

On top of that, some of the cars are not yet ready on pick-up day, causing customers to wait until the staff can get the car clean and ready.

  • Decent amount of luxury cars
  • Offers a lot of discounts and coupons
  • Quick hiring process

  • Confusing area of use
  • Cars are sometimes not ready on pick up

Avis is one of the leading car rental shops in all of Australia. It has a solid reputation everywhere in the country, so you can rest assured that you’re dealing with a reliable company.

What we love about the company are its quick booking process and its Signature Series, a fleet of luxury and premium cars. Currently, they have different models of BMW that you can choose from if you want to go around Adelaide in a beautiful car.

Just make sure to confirm with the staff the allowed area of use of the vehicle, as there are instances when some restricted areas are not mentioned.

The company offers a lot of discounts like a free daily base rate on some days, $100 off, and free use on a certain day, so make sure to check out their website for updates.

However, the pick-up isn’t always as smooth as the booking process. There are instances when the cars are not yet ready, and they’ll only start getting the car ready upon your arrival.

  • Wide variety of cars
  • Cheaper than the car rentals at the airport
  • Provides a free shuttle for customers

  • Quite far from the airport
  • Wear and tear policy is not always followed

You’ll find the East Coast in some of the busiest airports in Australia, so it should not come as a surprise if you see it near Adelaide Airport.

The shop is not located at the airport, so they get to save on airport fees. This, in turn, allows them to offer their cars at a much lower price.

They provide a free shuttle service for customers, though, so you don’t have to worry about getting there. Just make sure that you’ll arrive within the time limit since the shuttle’s services are limited.

If you aren’t able to catch the shuttle, you’ll have to call a cab which will cost you quite some money since the shop is still in Richmond.

Our favourite thing about this company is it offers a wide variety of cars, whether luxury or not. They have economy, intermediate, compact, full-size sedans, SUVs, minivans, and minibuses, giving customers better choices.

Their luxury car fleet is mostly composed of Audi and Tesla, which are some of the most popular luxury cars in the world.

Just be extra careful when driving them, as the company’s wear and tear policy isn’t always followed. Even a scratch that’s under 30 mm, that’s usually considered fair wear and tear, and it can cost you hundreds of dollars.
