The 5 Best Psychiatrists in Adelaide

The 4 Best Psychiatrists in Adelaide

Professional experience. Besides having the right qualifications, ideally, psychiatrists must have many years of experience and significant contributions to the field.

Convenience. If the psychiatric clinic fails to maintain regular communication with its patients, they may be discouraged from returning. Because of this, the client’s convenience must always be ensured.

Rates. Their rates must be reasonable and proportional to the length of the visit, their credibility, and more.

Insurance. Finally, we considered how fast they process paperwork for insurance along with the providers they accept for it.

Pros

  • Well-designed telehealth infrastructure
  • Has many mental health professionals
  • Expertise in ADHD cases
  • Streamlined process for referrals and booking appointments

Cons

  • Telehealth-focused care may not be applicable for all clients
  • Takes some time to respond to inquiries

Akkadian Health is a great choice because of their well-designed procedures for telehealth consulting. It’s why they are accessible even to those from rural areas.

For this, they have a procedure that promotes active engagement for patients and reduces the need for face-to-face encounters.

You can get access to more than 10 mental health professionals with them. Each of them has many years of experience, and their expertise includes cases of ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, and more.

Some of them are multilingual too. Through this, foreign clients will have an easier time when consulting with them.

They have a streamlined process for sending referrals, scheduling appointments, and arranging your meeting. Through this, you will be more encouraged to regularly attend your sessions.

The clinic is an especially good choice for those with ADHD-related concerns. They have a thorough assessment service that can be accessed through their website.

From what we’ve seen, a downside to them is that their telehealth-focused care may not be applicable to all clients.

Aside from this, they are not quick to respond to inquiries made through their website. This can be off-putting for those with cases that need fast responses.

Pros

  • Well-experienced
  • Expertise in medico-legal psychiatry
  • Good for compensation cases
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • Poor customer responsiveness
  • Pricey

Dr Michael Clarke is notable for his great expertise, as he has been practicing since 1983. He has been a member of the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists since 1993.

His career has been fruitful because of his contributions to research. He has also worked with many clients both public and private.

One of the things he is recommended for is medico-legal psychiatry, especially if compensation is sought. He is well-versed in the process that’s involved in this often-tricky case.

Dr Clarke has worked with many insurance companies, legal firms, and employees for this. His team is experienced in processing the relevant paperwork and reports.

He has a convenient location in Pirie St that makes him accessible to many busy individuals. His clinic has a simple and clean design too.

Among the things we’ve seen, a downside with them is that they take some time to respond to calls and emails.

Aside from this, given the highly specialized services they provide, their rates are quite high.

Pros

  • Has a large inpatient facility
  • Has advanced treatment methods
  • Well-designed website
  • Good experience of psychiatrists

Cons

  • High fees
  • Has received complaints about rude staff

Ramsay Health Care is a big health care provider that has extended to 10 countries and has a great market value. Plus, they are connected to 73 private hospitals.

Their psychiatric care facility has 62 beds, which provides adequate space for many clients. In addition, it’s actively funding and using research to improve its treatment methods.

They provide both inpatient and outpatient consultation, making them one of the few to do so in Adelaide.

In addition, they provide neurostimulation therapy which uses technology like electroconvulsive therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

One of their strengths is the design of their website, which provides much information on how to contact their psychiatrists. Information for treatment options, fees, and more can be seen there too.

If there’s anything negative to note, though, it’s that their advanced equipment and facilities translate into higher fees.

Aside from this, some found their nurses to be sometimes rude to their patients. Although such issues are to be expected for facilities this large, it’s still disappointing.

Pros

  • Expertise in childhood and adolescent cases
  • Has many years of experience
  • Good client collaboration
  • Responsive and communicative

Cons

  • Limited opening hours
  • Only has 1 psychologist

Dr. Gabrielle Hart is an expert in childhood and adolescent psychiatry, making her the go-to choice for cases of ADHD, autism spectrum, conduct disorder, and the like.

She has more than 20 years of experience and has worked in hospitals like the Royal Children’s Hospital, Austin Hospital, and Sydney Children’s Hospital.

What many clients like is how well she collaborates with parents throughout the whole treatment process. Every step, from initial assessment to final treatments, is explained thoroughly to you.

Their office staff is highly responsive and communicative regarding appointments, documents you need, and follow-up sessions needed.

It also helps that they are thorough in explaining their procedures. They make sure to take your input into consideration, making the process collaborative.

From what we’ve seen, a downside with the clinic is that their opening hours are very limited. Parents with tight schedules can find them hard to visit.

Aside from this, they only have one psychologist. which is why they can only take on a few clients.
