The 5 Best Sleep Clinics in Adelaide

How We Picked the Top Sleep Clinics of Adelaide

Experience. The practice of sleep medicine or somnology requires adequate education and training. We prefer clinics that employ licensed psychologists, sleep technicians, and such.
Equipment. Sleep disorders are diagnosed with a variety of equipment. Because of this, the best sleep clinics should be able to conduct sleep studies using EEGs, eye trackers, and the like.
Affordability. Treating sleep disorders requires many sessions. It’s best to have a clinic that has affordable fees for their tests and equipment.
Convenience. This pertains to how easy they are to book and visit. We also considered how accessible their clinic is.

Pros

  • Well-qualified in terms of years of experience and credentials
  • Great equipment
  • Accessible location
  • Straightforward communication style

Cons

  • Rates are expensive
  • Schedules tend to be filled easily

Adelaide Sleep is one of the most trusted names for treatment of sleep disorders in Adelaide. They’re officially recognized by the Australasian Sleep Association and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

In addition, all of their doctors are certified in sleep medicine. Most of them have had more than 10 years of experience in this field, so it’s easy to see why they’re highly qualified for the job.

They can treat most sleep disorders, including circadian rhythm disturbance, parasomnia, narcolepsy, and more. They have a great success rate based on what we’ve seen.

It’s made possible by having an advanced sleep study laboratory

We were impressed by their sleep study, as it is accurate in detecting breathing, heart rate, leg movement, seizures, carbon dioxide levels, and more.

Located in Calvary Adelaide Hospital, the clinic is very accessible to many. It’s also well-designed and has complete facilities, which makes visits more comfortable.

Most importantly, their doctors are praised by their patients for being straightforward and direct with advice. This keeps appointments short.

However, from what we’ve seen, one of the few downsides we found is that their rates are expensive. We found this unsurprising given the qualifications of their team.

Aside from this, the clinic’s schedule tends to be filled easily due to high demand. Be sure to book in advance to get a slot for an appointment with them.

Pros

  • Specialty in sleep apnea
  • Experienced team
  • Uses many treatment methods
  • Wide range of CPAP equipment offered

Cons

  • Small clinic
  • Inadequate space for parking

CLM Sleep Co’s specialty is sleep apnea. Their team has many years of experience and education in sleep respiration and sleep science.

Notably, most of them have more than ten years of experience. They’re also a large team, which is why they can meet many patients at the same time.

What we like about them is how they employ many methods for effective treatment. Aside from the usual CPAP, they also use oral appliances, positional therapy, and lifestyle therapy for the best changes.

In addition, they are accessible because they have branches in Adelaide, Queensland, Northern Territory, and Western Australia.

Another strength of the clinic is the wide range of CPAP equipment they have. These include Philips, Fisher and Paykel, and ResMed.

It’s also noteworthy how easy they are to coordinate with regarding the trial program for the CPAP equipment. The program allows clients to adjust their equipment in case they’re not comfortable with what they’re given.

That said, we’re just a bit disappointed about their small clinics. There’s also not enough space for parking, especially in their Kent Town branch.

Pros

  • Extensive methods for sleep issue treatment
  • Has 22 doctors
  • Complete in equipment
  • Located in Adelaide CBD

Cons

  • High fees
  • Takes some time to respond to messages

Burnside Sleep Centre is a great choice because of the extensive methods they have for treatments. For holistic care, their team is composed of sleep experts, ENT (ears, nose, and throat) surgeons, cardiologists, and psychologists.

Together, they have 22 doctors manning the sleep center. This provides more variation in advice and enables clients to meet a specialist that best treats the reason behind their sleep issues.

Their recommendations target every possible cause of sleep disorder. In addition, their reports for your sleep test are very comprehensive and are interpreted simply by their representatives.

The clinic has well-designed rooms for sleep treatment. With six beds and with state-of-the-art equipment for sleep recording, the data they provide is accurate.

In addition, it’s made more comfortable by having a king-sized single bed in six climate-controlled rooms. This clinic is also easy to visit because it’s located in the Adelaide CBD.

One thing we’re not too stoked about is that their fees are some of the highest in Adelaide. It’s because of their location and the equipment they provide.

Aside from this, they take some time to respond to messages sent through their website.

Pros

  • Has many branches
  • Experienced team
  • Good for home-based sleep studies
  • Affordable CPAP machines

Cons

  • Not always responsive
  • Information about pricing is inconsistent

About Sleep is very accessible because they have branches spread across Adelaide, including Grange Road (Western), Kensington Road (Eastern), Marion Road (Southern), and North East Road (North).

They’ve been operating since 2006 and have since created professional relationships with known brands like Philips, Resmend, Lumin, and Fisher and Paykel. This translates to having more affordable rates for their products.

Another strength of the company is in how well they can conduct home studies if it’s more convenient for you. They are great at providing advice on how to use their equipment.

Most of their machines have huge discounts compared to other companies. The clinic is easy to contact in case you need adjustments too.

Apart from this, their representatives have extensive experience in treating patients of various ages and conditions. They can also speak Italian and Greek!

If we have a concern about their service, one is that some clients complained of receiving inconsistent communication from their team. This is crucial especially if you’ll be regularly contacting them when you’re in the trial phase of their machines.

Aside from this, some also complained of receiving inconsistent information regarding fees with them. Be sure to clarify thoroughly upon your first visit as to be sure.

Pros

  • Expertise in treating respiratory-related sleep issues
  • Accessible clinic
  • Doctors have extensive experience in COPD and obstructive sleep apnea cases
  • Straightforward and empathetic doctors

Cons

  • Limited sleep physicians onboard
  • Takes a while to respond to contact lines

Norwood Specialist Clinic is a great choice, especially for sleep issues bought by respiratory complications. It’s because their team has many years of experience in these cases and uses the latest equipment for detecting issues of the lungs.

Located at Magill Road, it’s very accessible for those visiting through local transportation. The clinic has many spaces for parking, and its waiting room and consulting area are spacious.

Their doctors have extensive experience and research dedicated to cases of obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and obstructive sleep apnea. They have a good track record for treating these.

In addition, they’re straightforward and empathetic with patients. This helps in keeping patients comfortable during sessions.

Plus, the clinic also provides easy access to specialists for other medical issues. They have endocrinologists, general physicians, and dermatologists available.

Overall, we just think that they can improve when it comes to having more slots for appointments. It’s brought about by having limited sleep physicians onboard.

Aside from this, it would be better if they responded more quickly to their email and mobile contact lines.
