Cons

  • No off-hours support

Beger and Co Lawyers has been providing a suite of legal services since 1997. Their practice focuses on Wills and Estates, Family, and Business legal matters.

With Wills and Estates law being one of their primary areas of expertise, potential clients have an assurance that the service they get will be fair and at par with the best firms available in the area.

One thing we like is that they have easy to understand information published on their site. Clients have access to applicable laws, steps that need to be done to plan or contest a will, all the way to the services that the firm can offer.

Speaking of published services, they have the cost of planning available too. We love that the cost includes goods and services tax so clients know what they’re going to pay up front.

We do note that some services, naturally, don’t have costs published due to the uncertainty involved in getting a resolution. Services that fall into this category include will and inheritance contesting, among other things.

We were also happy to learn that Beger and Co Lawyers is a Justice Net-accredited firm. This means that clients who cannot afford a lawyer can get the legal help they need, often pro bono.

We’re also glad that the firm also has longer operating hours. It’s a win when clients have a longer window to get in touch with their lawyers.

Speaking of, we find it helpful that the lawyers’ numbers are posted on the site. For clients, this means being able to contact specific lawyers that they feel most comfortable working with.

Overall, if clients need wills and estates legal assistance, Beger and Co Lawyers is a good option for them. With a good client track record to back them up, we believe potential clients have in them a solid option.

Pros

  • Doyle’s Guide recognized Wills and Estates lawyers
  • Law Society of South Australia accredited member
  • Obligation-free consultation

Cons

  • No published rates
  • No off-hours support

From its founding in 2006, Donlan Lawyers set out to specialise in wills and estates. Despite not being one of the industry’s veterans just yet, they’ve already made their mark in their field of expertise.

Aside from well-deserved recognition from peer societies, they were also given high recognitions by Doyle’s Guide for their Wills and Estates legal service, which we find impressive.

For clients looking into will creation and management, they offer a suite of related services. From will planning, advanced care directives, trusts, and even superannuation, potential clients can be assured that they have options and ways to get their wills in order.

We didn’t see published rates for their services though. This can make potential clients who value upfront cost discussions to hesitate to get their services.

One thing they do offer, which we like, is an obligation-free consultation session and legal advice. Clients can email them or if they choose, call them, at no extra cost.

Another thing we found that warrants their inclusion on this list is their client recommendations. Despite being a relatively young firm, clients appreciate their professionalism, thorough handling of cases, reasonable pricing, and approachability.

To sum it up, we included Donlan Lawyers as a go-to wills and estates firm on this list by virtue of their professional and personal treatment of clients.

3. Wills Direct

Pros

  • Specialised area of practice
  • Published rates
  • Off-hours availability
  • Mobile appointments

Cons

  • Few accreditations
  • Relatively short industry experience

Wills Direct was established in 2014 as a boutique firm specialising in wills and estates. Since then, this relatively new firm has been making their mark in the field.

One thing we really like about this firm is that they have their rates published on their site. Potential clients who are concerned with expenses can easily see how much the services cost.

Another major plus we see is their availability. They have their regular operating hours, but clients will be glad to know that they are fully available beyond that – all they need to do is book an appointment.

Speaking of appointments, another thing clients will find favourable is their flexibility. What this means for potential clients is that lawyers will go to the client’s home, office, or wherever they find more convenient, to conduct business.

However, their service is offered to clients primarily in the metropolitan Adelaide, Adelaide Hills and lower Barossa areas. Residents travelling outside of these areas will need to contact them to discuss options.

Wills Direct doesn’t have as many recognitions as the others on this list. This can be a concern for some, but we can chalk it up to their relative newness as a business. The lawyers themselves have been in the practice for over ten years, which is reassuring.

4. Genders and Partners

Pros

  • STEP Private Client Awards – finalist
  • Law Society of South Australia accredited member
  • 15-minute obligation-free consultation
  • Flat, but flexible package rates
  • Mobile appointments
  • Published case studies

Cons

  • No published rates
  • No off-hours support

Having been around since 1848, Genders and Partners have been in the business longer than any firm on this list. This is a testament to their expertise and the trust loyal clients have in them.

As a boutique service, they focus entirely on wills and estate laws. For clients, this means getting the service of specialists who know the business inside and out.

Aside from giving clients the option of booking an appointment via phone, the website, or by scheduling a personal visit during work hours, we like that Genders and Partners also offers home or office visits at no extra cost.

One drawback we see is that they don’t have published rates. While it would give clients some certainty by knowing the cost prior to a scheduled interview, they do have the obligation-free call to discuss fees up front.

Speaking of fees, Genders and Partners generally offers flat rates for its service packages. Nevertheless, clients can opt to customise these services, which can alter the final cost.

Clients would be happy to know that these services can end up being cheaper than the packages in some cases.

One client, after getting a quote from another firm for a minor change in their will, shared that they received more value at a similar price point from Genders and Partners.

  • Law Council of Australia accredited member

  • Obligation-free first call
  • Off-hours availability
  • Mobile appointments
  • Website client portal
  • Bilingual service: English, Italian

Cons

  • Some services, like off-hours and mobile appointments, are not available for first time clients.

Di Rosa Lawyers was established in 2003 by seasoned lawyers who have been practising for 30 years. Their service portfolio focuses on the related fields of wills and estates, family law, and property law.

First thing we noted is that the information on wills management is comprehensive. We love that potential clients can easily find information there from why wills should be made and the services that the firm can offer in regards to that, right down to disputing a will in court.

Di Rosa Lawyers offers fixed-fee and non-fixed fee services. Wills services fall under the fixed-fee service. As such, it has a published rate table, available in pdf format, in the client portal on the site – which we think is convenient.

Speaking of the client portal, we like that they have this service available. This conveniently allows existing clients to schedule an appointment, see their fees, view documents, and even make payments.

Clients shared that the staff were friendly, helpful and understanding. They also commented on the promptness of the staff, not only with documentation, but with their availability as well.

Lastly, we love that existing clients can schedule an appointment easily. Aside from the usual phone or email, they also offer off-hours scheduling and home visits should clients choose these.
