From my experience, Ban Ban nails authentic Korean fried chicken, from the savory sauces to the chicken meat that easily comes off the bone. They offer 14 delicious sauces, with standouts like sweet soy, soy garlic, and hot and crunchy.

Inspired by chimaek, Korean shops selling fried chicken and cold beer, Ban Ban brings this tradition to life with a streamlined, accessible menu that serves Korean food faithful to its roots.

One of the standout dishes for me is the Spam fries with Sriracha mayonnaise. The fries gave off a loud crunch when I bit into them, and the mayonnaise had a light tangy flavor that went great with beer.

Speaking of beer, they have a rich selection of Korean ones, including Cass and Hite.

The shop serves takeout food quickly and has four accessible branches: Franklin Street, Rundle Mall Plaza, Port Adelaide Plaza, and Elizabeth City Center.

Their menu isn’t suitable, however, for health-conscious customers, as most dishes are oily and rich in sodium. They’ve also received complaints for providing incorrect items for takeout orders.

Pros

  • Authentic Korean recipes used
  • 14 fried chicken sauces served
  • Accessible
  • Serves takeout food quickly

Cons

  • Not suitable for health-conscious diners
  • Sometimes put incorrect items for takeout orders

Just awesome. Chicken was perfect.

“Just awesome. Chicken was perfect. Crispy and super juicy! Salad was fresh. Service and atmosphere couldn’t be better. I’ll be back.”

Betty’s Burger serves good old-fashioned American burgers. Their trademark, the Betty’s Classic, oozes with the fresh taste of lettuce, tomatoes, and Angus beef topped with their creamy special sauce.

The restaurant, which opened in 2014, is inspired by 1950s Americana, which can be seen in its burger-dominated menu and beach shack restaurant design.

Health-conscious folks will also appreciate Betty’s Classic Plant, as it’s low-calorie for a burger, and its plant-based patty is juicy. Their “concretes” or frozen custards also have innovative flavors like Maltesers meringue and New York cheesecake.

They also have a well-designed ordering website, and from my experience, they follow their promised time for preparing.

That said, their prices are a bit high. Also, they sometimes mix up the contents of takeout orders.

Pros

  • Serves classic American burgers
  • Good choices for vegans/vegetarians
  • Innovative frozen custard flavors
  • Well-designed ordering website

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Sometimes mixes up contents of takeout orders

The burgers were simple and fantastic!

“The burgers were simple and fantastic! The fries were a little too salty for my taste. The onion rings were also great.

We got water in paper cups and Betty beer in a can. I would have preferred glasses since we were eating in the restaurant.”

Cumbia Bar Kitchen serves delicious and quickly prepared tapas made with authentic South American recipes.

Founded in 2018 by Salvatore Pittelli, the restaurant serves a well-balanced menu of breakfast food, all-day food, and beverages (cocktails, wines, and coffee). They also have great vegan choices.

Their cheese and chicken empanadas stand out for me because they have just the right crisp, oiliness, and savory meat that goes perfectly with the vinegar sauce.

In terms of downsides, however, they’re pricey. Also, their preparation times are inconsistent, sometimes taking up to 30 minutes.

Pros

  • Well-rounded menu
  • Good vegan choices
  • Excellent empanadas
  • Easy-to-use online booking form

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Inconsistent preparation times

In my opinion, One Sneaky Cheetah blends Italian pizza techniques with suburban Aussie sensibilities perfectly. Everything is made by hand, from the dough to the toppings, and they offer flavors like ham and pineapple or roasted chicken.

The shop was founded by the same people behind McLaren Vale’s crowd-favorite Pizzateca. It brings a more laid-back approach, partnering pizza with self-crafted beer cheekily named One Sneaky Lager.

Their unique touch really stood out to me with their classic Margherita. Even after 30 minutes after delivery, the crust remained crisp, and the buttery, tangy flavor was delightfully enhanced by olive oil.

However, they could improve their consistency, as I found the pizza quality can vary, sometimes being burned or lacking in toppings. Additionally, they don’t accept cash payments.

Pros

  • Mix of Italian and Aussie-style pizza
  • Standout Margherita pizza
  • Also serves beer

Cons

  • Inconsistent pizza quality
  • Doesn’t accept cash payment

Easily the best pizza I’ve ever had in Adelaide

“Easily the best pizza I’ve ever had in Adelaide and now my new favorite. Excellent tasting dough, nice and chewy with a delicious pizza sauce on top. The cheese melts perfectly and adds another depth of flavor to the pizza.”

Our favorite pizza joint in Adelaide.

“We LOVE One Sneaky Cheetah! Our favorite pizza joint in Adelaide. We appreciate the quality ingredients and a great pizza base not weighed down with a million low quality toppings. That home made from scratch tomato sauce is delicious. Our go-to order is a Margherita – with anchovy – and an extra cheesy cheetah tail. Add some Tabasco or hot sauce and happy days! Highly recommended.”

Social Street S2 is a great restaurant for takeout Thai food. Their dishes are made authentically with great presentation and at great prices.

Its name is inspired by lively Thai streets filled with food and music. Their menu consists of authentic Thai dishes like roast duck curry, drunken noodles, and kao pad.

I appreciate the way they serve pad thai: with peanuts and chili on the side so I can adjust the flavor. Mine was delicious—slightly tangy, rich in umami, and with great consistency, especially the noodles!

They’re also consistent in serving their food fresh, which is a must for Thai cuisine. Additionally, their online booking form has a streamlined design, making it easy to schedule takeout ASAP or for a specific time.

However, the downside is their inconsistent preparation times, sometimes taking up to 30 minutes. Also, their portions are small.

Pros

  • Authentic Thai cuisine
  • Consistently fresh food
  • Well-made online booking tool

Cons

  • Food preparation can take 30 minutes
  • Small portions
