Rating the 5 Best Wedding Caterers in Adelaide's Homepage

Rating the 5 Best Wedding Caterers in Adelaide

Reputation: We sought caterers who are known for their genuine enthusiasm for food, not just their skill with a knife.

We also assessed their ability to navigate stressful situations. It’s essential that they respond positively to the pressure that can build up in the kitchen during weddings.

Attention to detail: We picked caterers who will pay attention to your needs in order to make certain that everything goes according to plan.

Organization: We looked at how well these caterers plan ahead to make sure the reception goes off without a hitch.

Communication: We narrowed the selection to only those who listen to and respond to your concerns while also providing helpful recommendations.

Price: We picked caterers that have innovative menus that are both fair and conducive to the catering type you have in mind. It would be ideal if they have several options on the menu that are all reasonably priced.

For this review, we sought the feedback of friends and other clients who previously availed of these wedding catering services.

Pros

  • Exceptional planning process
  • Friendly organizer and staff
  • Stunning venue
  • Different catering styles offered
  • Venue is accessible for persons with disability

Cons

  • Poor breakfast options
  • Strict policies
  • Walk-ins are discouraged

Some of our friends had such a pleasant time with Utopia during the planning process for their wedding reception that they still talk about how much they enjoyed working with them long after the big day.

Their organizer and wait staff are some of the friendliest bunch we have met.

One thing that really sets their venue apart is their waterfall!

We admire that they provide different menu types; they offer breakfast, lunch, and high tea receptions.

If you’re up for a more casual reception, they offer cocktails, pizza, and even street food!

On top of this, their venue is accessible to people with disabilities.

However, we’d discourage you from doing walk-ins if you plan on inquiring about their services in person.

In addition to this, their cancellation and change-of-date policies are very strict.

All payments are final and cannot be refunded or transferred under any circumstances unless a minimum of 12 months’ notice is given.

They may also adjust package prices for rescheduled dates and require an additional non-refundable re-booking fee of AUD 750.

Be aware that many patrons were unsatisfied with the breakfast options as well.

On the bright side, we definitely recommend them for the many menu types and all-inclusive wedding packages they offer.

Pros

  • Wedding floral specialist
  • Stunning arrangements and presentation
  • Extensive portfolio
  • Pleasant planning experience
  • Payment plans available

Cons

  • Caters only up to a maximum of 200 people
  • Prices of some offerings are not readily available
  • Does not offer equipment hire

You guessed it, Event Gourmet and Florals are not just devoted to specially catering weddings but also providing splendid floral arrangements for the event.

This is such a niche combo, and we’re all for it! It’s not an easy task to look for bouquets and arches for your special day.

Along with their flower arrangements, they make the most eye-catching food presentations we’ve ever seen. They say we eat with our eyes first, and that’s definitely true for them.

It’s so much fun—and, dare we say, therapeutic—to plan the wedding reception with them, especially when you get to try out some of the food they’ll be serving.

However, do note that they can only cater up to a maximum of 200 guests for your wedding.

While this may be disappointing to some, we can take heart in the fact that they are taking this step in order to maintain the standard of the food they serve at receptions.

We also don’t like that, with the exception of the grazing tables, the prices of their catering packages are only available upon request.

They don’t offer equipment hire, so if your venue doesn’t have a barbeque, oven, or pie warmer, you’ll have to rent one or bring your own.

Wedding receptions can be extremely expensive, so for us, the fact that they offer flexible payment plans makes up for their shortcomings.

Pros

  • High level of customizability
  • Has catered over 500 weddings and special events
  • Affordable drink packages
  • Also specializes in vegan catering
  • Great venue hire option

Cons

  • High minimum spend requirement
  • Travel fees are extra

With over 500 weddings and special events catered under their belt, Cargo Catering Co. is a contender for the best wedding caterers in the metro.

We are huge fans of the fact that you can freely personalise your reception menu however you see fit.

Guests are in for the time of their lives when there are drinks involved. This is why their affordable drink packages are something we also strongly recommend.

The food, of course, is the main attraction. We couldn’t stop raving about how great the food was, especially the shared table feast menu.

Also, guests who have special diets remarked on how well they were taken care of by the staff.

Speaking of special diets, we admire that they also specialize in vegan catering.

However, we were disappointed to learn that if you want to have your wedding on the weekend, you’ll need to spend at least AUD 5,000 with them.

The fact that there are additional fees for transportation is also disappointing.

We think it’s unfair that couples getting married in the Adelaide central business district have to pay an extra AUD 250.

Even so, we still think you should check them out, especially if you don’t have a wedding venue yet. Their venue hire is a great option to use along with their catering services.

Pros

  • Award-winning catering services
  • Exquisite food
  • Commendable wait staff service
  • Great at communicating with clients
  • Outstanding attention to detail

Cons

  • Prices aren’t readily available
  • Limited customizability of menus

Over the past 30 years, Cindy’s Classic Gourmet has earned a stellar reputation as Adelaide’s go-to wedding planner and caterer thanks to their hard work and keen sense of taste.

We have to give it to them because, as an independent caterer and wedding planner, they have consistently won awards.

They are undeniably passionate and true to their word in bringing sumptuous dishes during receptions.

We also commend their wait staff for being so patient and attentive to the guests’ needs and requests.

Cindy is very hands-on and responsive, so you can count on her to be there for you every step of the way, alleviating the stress of wedding reception planning from your initial enquiry to your sendoff.

Because they offer pre-set catering packages, they can only make minor adjustments to the menu to accommodate special diets, thereby limiting menu customisation.

Another downside is that all of the prices of their packages are only available upon contacting them. It’s a hassle to enquire about it if you plan only to canvass prices.

We still feel confident that you won’t be disappointed if you decide to avail of their catering services, given their exceptional quality of service and value for money.

Price(A higher score means a better value, not higher prices)4/5

Pros

  • 40 years of experience in the industry
  • Easy-to-navigate menu offerings
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Generous portions
  • Impressive portfolio
  • Reasonable prices

Cons

  • Minimum of 50 guests headcount
  • Prices of equipment and venue hire not readily available

Since 2000, Plenty Catering Co. has also won numerous SA restaurant and catering awards.

Their tagline, “purveyors of fine foods to the discerning,” immediately caught our attention. They are experts at making bespoke menus.

Their menus are easy-to-navigate because they have dedicated menus for their cocktail experience, plated courses, grazing platters, and drinks service.

This is such a subtle touch, but it makes a difference.

They also have impeccable attention to detail, which has garnered praise not just from clients but also from their guests.

We definitely appreciate that they don’t skimp on serving sizes as well.

And they’re able to do it all while charging fair prices for their packages.

It’s hard to find fault with them, but the requirement that events have at least 50 guests can be a dilemma for some clients.

Moreover, we also find it inconvenient that we have to enquire about equipment and venue rental costs. We wish they would just provide it on their website.

Besides these two minor gripes, we strongly recommend Plenty Catering Co. for all your wedding catering needs.
