Where to Get the Best Pancakes in Adelaide to Start Your Mornings Right

Imagine starting your day with fluffy, creamy, and golden brown pancakes drizzled with honey. Topping it all off is a handful of fresh berries, a light sprinkle of sugar, and a soothing cup of tea. What a treat!

That’s the morning experience I seek before diving into my usual routine here in Adelaide. Days that start right (and sweet!) are delightful to me.

If you want the same, I’m sharing my favorite spots for pancakes in the city!

  • Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM-3 PM
  • Saturday-Sunday: 8 AM-3 PM

Peter Rabbit Cafe brings a quaint charm that feels straight out of a fairy tale, a perfect place for a peaceful breakfast.

Their pancakes are thick and fluffy, made with creamy ricotta. The strawberry dust, pumpkins, and whipped cream toppings give it a mildly sweet layer to chew on and savor.

Pro tips:

  • The cafe is especially recommendable for those with children because of its whimsical atmosphere and child-friendly foods.
  • Be advised that queues are long during weekends.

The Flinders Street Project

Website: https://fsproject.com.au/

Address: 276 Flinders St

Operating hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM-3 PM
  • Saturday-Sunday: 8 AM-2 PM

The Flinders Street Project brings grounded minimalist design in the middle of Flinders. The 10,000-wooden-spoon piece on the ceiling has a dual purpose as a soundproofing device and an artful decor.

But enough of the interior. Their house-made berry pancake offers an intriguingly sour experience, topped with strawberry salsa, sudachi citrus, and raspberries. The maple and mascarpone whipped cream on top then perfectly makes the flavors dance on your tongue delightfully.

Pro tips:

  • It’s within walking distance from most tourist hotels in the CBD, so try the place if you’re looking for a quick bite.
  • Their coffee is strong and aromatic, perfect to pair with the berry pancake.

While I always associate Cafe Brunelli with mouth-watering aromas of grilled meat, I can also vouch that they’re a fantastic place for a classic pancake!

Theirs are made ala homemade—rich in maple syrup, berry syrup, strawberries, and fresh bananas! Light and fluffy, they come in generous stacks that keep me full all morning.

Pro tips:

  • If you’re in Westlakes, visit their branch there. It offers a fabulous view of the water.
  • They have large portions of everything, so be sure to come on an empty stomach or with a companion.

Hello, Stranger

Dining at Hello, Stranger feels like a picnic because of the homemade charm they add to every dish.

Their buttermilk pancake oozes with breakfast delights: seasonal fruits, cheese cream, and berry compote. As someone with a sweet tooth, their Lotus Biscoff pancake was an absolute treat because it added a cookie texture to enhance the experience.

They source everything locally, ensuring ingredients are fresh and that they support the community.

Pro tips:

  • The cafe is near many bars (like the Prohibition Liquor Co.), making it a great spot for treating hangovers after a night out.
  • They’re also a fantastic Asian fusion cafe. Try their Japanese fried chicken, karaage chicken waffle, and soba noodle salad.

Froth and Fodder is a staple in Kurralta Park, frequented by families, workers, and tourists alike. After all, their prices are some of the lowest I’ve seen, and they nail the homey aesthetic on the head.

Their triple-stack buttermilk pancake drizzled with zesty berry compote and topped with whipped butter is sweet, hearty, and perfect for all ages. With their Immune Boost Juice (orange, ginger, and turmeric) as a side, my breakfast was healthy and filling.

  • The cafe is dog-friendly, so bring Fido along if you want.
  • Soak in some sun in the mornings and dine outdoors! The view here is worth it.

Bricks & Stones Cafe, as the name suggests, charms with its bare wall interior and cozy atmosphere, making it one of the most comfortable spots in the CBD.

Their pancakes are made extra special with rich butterscotch maple sauce which coats candied bananas and strawberries. It was a great balancing meal to my plain espresso (which they serve extra bold and strong!).
