Pros
- Homey and garden-esque ambience
- Highly customizable breakfast items with good portions
- Easy to understand menu items
- Commendable staff service
Cons
- Expensive price point
- Strictly outdoor dining
- Mediocre coffee
- Mainly for reservations with limited number of walk-ins allowed
Peter Rabbit is a unique breakfast joint located at the heart of Adelaide. They have this secret garden-esque ambiance that in our opinion is a wonderful touch.
Their unique take on breakfast in a scenic “backyard” is definitely one of the defining traits of Peter Rabbit. However, if you prefer indoor dining, this may not be for you as it’s strictly outdoor dining.
Food-wise, this breakfast place is inclusive of people with dietary restrictions and preferences. They have a more detailed menu accessible by scanning their QR code that offers gluten-free, vegan-friendly, or allergen-free customization options.
Some have, however, pointed out that over-customizing your dish will diminish its overall intended flavor and dish quality.
One of the underrated ways they also make breakfast friendly for those who are not well-versed with food vocabulary is by including a glossary on their menu so that customers won’t have to grapple with culinary jargon.
Their coffee, however, has garnered mixed reactions from their customers. Some weren’t too fond of their attempt at making organic and ethically grown coffee that tastes mediocre.
Customers who told us that they enjoyed their coffee weren’t able to fully articulate what they specifically liked about their coffee. This leads us to think that their coffee isn’t geared toward seasoned coffee enthusiasts.
On the upside, their staff service was commendable because of their dedication to assisting customers and making sure that they have a pleasant breakfast experience.
If you plan on dining there, be sure to try their specialties like the Rabbit Bowl, Eggs Your Way, and their endless selection of fresh pastries.
In our opinion, this is a great breakfast spot you can go to once in a while or if you’re visiting Adelaide. Its high price point isn’t ideal if you’re looking for a go-to breakfast place.
Do note also that they mainly accommodate reservations and have limited availability for walk-ins. Their reservations can only be made through their website or via email.

Pros
- Supports local businesses
- Prompt service
- Tasty breakfast items that have large portions
- No reservations needed
Cons
- Small cafe space
- Expensive healthy options
With a little over a decade of breakfast experience, UR Caffe has cemented themselves as one of the breakfast experts in Adelaide.
At the heart of UR Caffe’s advocacy is bringing local, quality produce to the table. This is because their ingredients are sourced from local Adelaide businesses.
Customers who frequent the cafe have always enjoyed their well-portioned breakfast items that are reasonably priced. Their Sourdough Toast, Avo Pom, and Scrambled Eggs with Mushroom and Halloumi are some of their most-picked from the menu.
Their coffee offerings are also consistently great and can always be made to your liking, so you can get your caffeine fix there.
However, if you’re more inclined to pick healthier breakfast options, this place may not be for you because their vegan-friendly and allergen-free items are priced significantly higher than their food items containing meat.
This place isn’t inclusive for vegans, vegetarians, and those with strict dietary restrictions.
UR Caffe also wants you to make them your local go-to breakfast spot because you don’t need to have any reservations to be seated. You can walk in and have a quick bite or stay for a while and enjoy your slow mornings.
However, do note that they have a fairly small space, so if you fancy a bigger place and less packed area to enjoy your first meal of the day, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Fortunately, this is remedied by their service that’s often commended for being swift and efficient. This is crucial because you don’t want to wait for a long time for your first meal of the day.
Overall, UR Caffe caters to the general masses who are looking for a comfortable breakfast place with their tasty food and prompt service.

Pros
- Attentive staff
- Top-notch healthy options
- Retro-themed interior
- Dog-friendly place
- Delightful fresh juice offerings
Cons
- Expensively priced add-ons
- Poor quality coffee
- Food is sometimes served cold
- Long serving time
Mister Sunshine’s is one of Adelaide’s local treasured breakfast places that loves the community of Thebarton. They have this retro-themed interior that amplifies its great atmosphere.
If you enjoy taking your dog out for a walk and plan on getting breakfast after, this is a perfect breakfast joint for you. Mister Sunshine’s will treat your fur babies with care and feed them treats to make them comfortable as you enjoy your meal.
Customers have different go-to breakfast items on the menu, but most of them seem to agree that their muesli is to die for.
Vegans are also accommodated in their breakfast offerings, with Fruit Toast and Avo Show being their specialty items.
Coupling this with their attentive staff and genuine service, breakfast is more of an experience rather than a meal alone.
Their breakfast items seem to satisfy meat-lovers and vegans alike with their excellent taste. But when it comes to price, be sure not to be too experimental with the add-ons because they’re unreasonably expensive.
Their coffee, however, is lackluster, with some pointing out that it seems to be over-diluted with water. As for this, Mister Sunshine’s redemption lies in their wide array of fresh juice selections with orange, carrot, and ginger as particular standouts.
Some customers are disappointed, though, about their sluggish service and painstakingly long serving times. This isn’t ideal if you’re in a rush or don’t like to wait for breakfast to be ready.
What’s worse is that sometimes your food may arrive cold despite waiting 30 minutes on average. This can definitely ruin someone’s start of the day, so you have to be more patient if you plan on dining here.
Putting this aside, if you fancy their food, they sell some of their homemade products, such as jam jars, sauce jars, and almond milk, at an affordable price.

Pros
- Menu changes every day
- Large portions
- Exceptional staff service
Cons
- Expensive food
- No set menu which can be off-putting to some
- Little to no price transparency
If you’re looking for a more sophisticated option for breakfast, Luigi Delicatessen is bar none the best fine-dining breakfast place.
This restaurant is one of the most renowned, if not the most, Italian restaurants in Adelaide. Its founder is a skilled chef that has garnered multiple awards and accolades throughout his culinary journey.
What sets Luigi apart from the previously mentioned breakfast places is that they don’t really have a set menu. They’re flexible and always have something new to offer to their customers.
Their staff service is exceptional, as they’re able to guide you through the ever-changing menu and food selections.
It’s important to condition yourself that if you plan on eating at Luigi’s, there’s no set menu and therefore the prices can vary depending on the breakfast offerings.
What they do have are breakfast platters, but their contents can also change daily. If you’re not an adventurous eater and prefer that you know what you’re setting yourself up for, this may not be for you.
One tip that customers always seem to mention is to always inquire with your server about the price of each platter or breakfast item that you will order so you’re aware of where your current bill stands.
This is because there seems to be little to no price transparency with their menu items that change daily.
On the upside, being a fine dining restaurant, it’s unusual to see generous portions of food, so it’s definitely a plus when we talk about finding the perfect balance between quality and quantity.
Of course, their presentation will never be in question, as every dish will be plated beautifully and perfect for food photography.
In our opinion, this is a great breakfast place if you’re meeting someone important or if you’re celebrating something special because the price point for the items can set you back a minimum of a hundred dollars for breakfast.
But if you plan on splurging or just want to experience an exquisite breakfast experience, Luigi Delicatessen is a must-visit for you.

Pros
- VIP Locals Club memberships available that come with numerous perks
- Generous portions
- Homey ambiance
- Exceptional staff service
- Pay-it-forward coffee
Cons
- Small-sized restaurant
- Minor breakfast items are expensive
Always referred to as a hidden gem, The Pantry on Egmont is a favorite pick for many locals and a guaranteed stopover for tourists.
They have numerous breakfast items that cater to both meat-eaters, vegans, and those with dietary restrictions.
Their place, though small, seems to maximize the space that they have to work with to make a very homey, vibrant, and funky retro-themed restaurant.
One menu item that customers seem to always come back for is their Falafel Bowl. Their pastry selection also doesn’t disappoint with their delectable donuts always being a fan favorite.
However, their more under-the-radar breakfast items seem to be unreasonably expensive. We reckon it’s one of their ways to allow their restaurant to offer their more in-demand breakfast items at a more reasonable price.
Though this is a justifiable reason for upping the price of some menu items, we find that this is limiting for the select few customers who will inevitably go for these less-picked items.
On the flip side, this prevents having to take a long time scanning through the menu if they already have renowned bestseller breakfast items.
In hindsight, this is also what allows their restaurant to accommodate customers quickly because usually, patrons already know what to order from the moment they enter the restaurant.
The Pantry also ensures that they foster a strong relationship with their patrons and locals. One of the ways they do this is by doing a pay-it-forward scheme for their coffees to help those who are struggling to get by.
Another noteworthy option is signing up for their VIP Locals Club which allows those who sign up to get perks like exclusive discounts and priority access to local events.
The Pantry’s loyal following has cemented its reputation as one of the breakfast experts in Adelaide.
