Pros
- Highly qualified professionals
- Has dietitians and physiotherapists on their team
- Accessible location
- Easy to book an appointment through website
Cons
- Has received complaints for being unresponsive
- Takes long to finish processing medical insurance
Adelaide Private Surgeons’ strength lies in the high caliber of their doctors. Many of them have studied and practiced colorectal surgery internationally, including in London, New York, and Houston.
They’ve dedicated years of training specifically for colorectal procedures, making them very familiar with diseases and treatment of the colon. Most of them work as specialists in hospitals in Adelaide, which proves their expertise.
In addition, the clinic has three dietitians and two physiotherapists (with pelvic floor focus) who can help in providing all-around advice to assist patients with colon issues.
Located in the St. Andrews Medical Centre, their clinic is very spacious and accommodating. There’s plenty of waiting space, and its modern design makes it pleasing to the eyes.
We also appreciate that it’s easy to book an appointment with them through their website. In addition, they’re good at coordinating telehealth consultations.
If there’s anything we didn’t like about them, one is that some clients complained about having their requests and messages unanswered for a long time by their representatives.
Aside from this, some also complained of long waiting times for the processing of their medical insurance.

Pros
- More than 20 years of operation
- Great equipment
- Can handle most proctology cases
- Streamlined process for accepting clients
Cons
- Small clinic
- Has been unable to follow up quickly on some clients’ concerns
Colorectal Surgery has more than 20 years in the business, and they’ve dedicated all of this for surgery and treatment of colon and gastrointestinal issues. This specialization makes them more qualified for the job.
Their doctors are notable for having great experience in colorectal surgery.
One member of their team heads the colorectal surgeon unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, and most have had many published works in peer-reviewed academic journals.
In line with this, the equipment they use is complete. They can provide colonoscopy, robot-assisted surgeries, endoscopy, and pelvic floor diagnostic tests, which makes them a one-stop for everything related to colon and gastrointestinal issues.
Another highlight is that they have a streamlined process for accepting clients. From the appointment setting to the day of the colonoscopy, their process is straightforward and easy to follow.
Plus, the professionalism and warmth of their doctors are commendable. They explain your diagnosis, pre-colonoscopy preparation, and results to you in a way that is easy for most to understand.
However, we’re just a bit disappointed with the design and space of their clinic. It’s smaller than most in Adelaide, and it’s very plainly designed.
Aside from this, they’ve received complaints about not being able to follow up on the inquiries of some clients who contacted them via phone.

Pros
- Affordable fees
- Good doctor qualifications
- Easy to coordinate with for regular checkups
- Thorough with providing instructions prior to colonoscopy
Cons
- Inadequate parking spaces
- Small clinic
Lumen Gastroenterology is especially a great choice because of their affordable fees. It’s below the Australian Medical Association’s recommended rates, which makes them accessible for many.
They have seven specialists on their team, each with decades of experience in gastrointestinal surgery. Most have had international experience in countries like Canada and Japan.
One of their strengths is how easy it is to coordinate with them for regular checkups. They’re responsive to calls and have many slots regularly available.
This is especially useful for those with diseases with chronic symptoms like Crohn’s disease, Coeliac disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
They’re also very thorough in providing the instructions before your colonoscopy session. Their staff is accommodating to inquiries.
One thing we weren’t too fond of, however, is their inadequate parking spaces. This can be inconvenient, especially during peak hours.
Aside from this, the clinic is smaller than other colonoscopy clinics in Adelaide. This can make waiting a little uncomfortable.

Pros
- Has been operating since 1985
- Has 7 specialists available
- Fast with processing insurance
- Offers capsule colonoscopy
Cons
- Far from CBD
- Has received complaints for receptionists’ unprofessionalism
Northern Endoscopy Centre has been operating since 1985. Their clinic is well-equipped for almost all endoscopy procedures, making them a good choice for all enterology concerns.
They have seven specialists on their team who specialize in gastrointestinal diseases, colorectal conditions, and interventional endoscopy. They have a good track record for treating these issues.
The clinic’s adherence to standards set by Australian Safety and Quality in Healthcare can be seen in its well-maintained space, hassle-free sessions, and helpful information guides.
We didn’t have any issues with how they process fees either, as fees are comprehensively explained to clients. Their representatives for medical insurance process paperwork fast too.
Plus, they’re a great choice if you want a more convenient way of doing a colonoscopy, which is through capsule colonoscopy. It is less intrusive and takes less preparation on your end.
There are a couple of downsides to consider with them, though.
First, their location in Salisbury is a bit far from the CBD. It’s hard to visit if you’re traveling via public transportation.
Aside from this, they’ve received complaints about their front desk’s unprofessionalism towards some clients.

Pros
- Accessible fees
- Can do all forms of colon surgery
- Good with customer communication
- Highly qualified professionals
Cons
- Small clinic
- Limited slots available
Adelaide Colorectal + General Surgery boasts one of the most accessible rates for colonoscopy and surgery rates we’ve seen. This makes the clinic an easy choice for those on a budget.
It is led by Dr. Ciccocioppo and Associate Professor Nick Rieger who have collaborated on many cases for years. They have decades of experience in enterology, and they’re active members of various surgery and medical organizations in Australia.
The clinic is complete in terms of equipment and surgery offerings. They have all forms of colon surgery (robotic, laparoscopic, and open) covered, and they can provide emergency treatments upon request.
In addition, they’re also commonly visited for cases of vasectomy, hernia, and hydrocele repair due to their experience with these.
They’ve received much praise for their good communication with patients. They collaborate well with clients regarding the treatment that they will administer.
Given this, it’s just unfortunate that their clinic is one of the smallest in the city. This makes their appointment slots much more limited.
Aside from this, it also means that they most likely won’t be able to handle walk-in appointments. It’s best to contact them early to be sure they can serve you.
