Pros
- Outstanding food
- Friendly ambience
- Authentic menu
- Extensive wine menu
Cons
- Quite expensive
- Customer service can be improved
The enormous brick chimney is probably one of the first things brought up when locals talk of The Greek on Halifax, but the restaurant offers more than just a beautiful and eye-catching building.
Despite adding some twists to its menu to stand out from the rest, the restaurant has maintained a certain authenticity in its food.
Among their dishes, it’s the Mytilineiko Arni or lamb shank that blew our minds. It was soft and beautifully cooked, not fatty and definitely not rushed.
The Thalassina Seafood Platter is also a must-try when you come to visit. With tasty octopus, prawns, calamari, and Moreton bay bugs, it was perfect.
The food, however, can be pretty pricey.
The lamb shank is already $42, and the seafood platter is $150. One of their starters is also priced at $25.
But we do think that the serving and the taste of the food make up for the price, so if you have some money to spare, do check them out.
Another thing we love about them is the festive atmosphere inside. The diners seemed to be having a lot of fun and were having great conversations, making us feel relaxed.
The customer service, though, isn’t as lovely as the ambience. Service was pretty slow, and we had to remind the servers about our request.
According to other customers, there are also instances when the staff members become rude and impolite, which are big no-nos in the food industry.

Pros
- Near Henley Beach
- Best European Restaurant in South Australia for 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022
- Offers takeaway
- Extensive menu
- Reasonable price
- Outstanding food
Cons
- Confusing menu
- Can be noisy
- Customer service can be improved
Estia Restaurant was named Best European Restaurant in South Australia in four different years, and it will not make sense to not add it to this list.
With its location near Henley Beach, it offers customers a relaxed and cosy ambience. The simple tables and minimal designs inside also help customers feel at ease.
The restaurant offers an extensive menu, giving diners more choices. They have over 30 dishes that can be paired with a wide range of drinks.
The only problem is the menu can be confusing to read. The font is small and doesn’t explain which dish comes with a side dish and which doesn’t.
We didn’t know that some of the dishes we ordered came with sides, so we ordered more, resulting in a table full of food.
As for the prices, they’re pretty reasonable considering that they’re not that expensive and the dishes come in large portions.
Another thing we love about Estia is that they offer takeaway, allowing us to enjoy their food in the comfort of our homes. It’s also convenient when the restaurant is packed.
Since it’s a popular spot, the restaurant can get quite noisy. You may not fully enjoy your food if you’re not a big fan of big crowds.
Customer service also may leave some disappointed. Some staff members are unfriendly and not very hospitable.
While we were there, we heard the ladies from the table near us complaining that the servers got their orders wrong, which is honestly one of the most frustrating things that can happen to you when dining out.

Pros
- Friendly atmosphere
- Have vegetarian menu
- Parking is available
- Outstanding food
Cons
- Long wait time
- Customer service can be improved
Meze Mazi is run by a Greek chef, and it’s easy to understand why it serves some of the best Greek foods in Adelaide.
The restaurant offers a menu carefully filled with traditional Greek dishes that were upgraded with some modern twists by Head Chef Niko.
We were absolutely in love with the Kritharoto prawns. They were exploding with chargrilled flavour!
The moussaka is also one of the highlights of their menu. The beef is very tender, and the taste of herbs mixes well with the natural flavour of the beef.
We also love that they have a vegetarian menu, which can be hard to come by in a Greek restaurant. This allows customers with certain diet requirements to still enjoy tasty Greek foods.
Another great thing about this restaurant is its friendly and homey atmosphere. It’s perfect for a family night or a catch-up with friends.
The only downside would be the long wait time and the customer service.
Some of the waiters didn’t know much about their wines, so it was hard to get a suggestion.
They also missed some orders, causing the customers to wait for more on top of the already long wait time.
Some of our food took more than half an hour to be served, which was pretty disappointing.

Pros
- Accessible location
- Open for both lunch and dinner
- Open 7 days a week
- Offers banquets and a la carte menu
- Offers delivery
Cons
- Quite expensive
- Service can be slow
The sister restaurant of Estia, Eros, has also made a name for itself in the Greek food scene in Adelaide.
Located in the heart of Adelaide, Eros Kafe is highly accessible to many customers.
Our favourite thing about Eros is it’s open for both lunch and dinner, allowing customers to enjoy good food at lunch.
It also offers both a banquet and an a la carte menu, so customers have a lot to choose from.
The Haloumi Salata salad is one of the restaurant’s standouts. They used fresh ingredients, which were more flavourful than we expected.
The only downside of their menu is it’s pretty expensive. Many of their meze menus cost over $25, which is a lot considering how small the serving is.
Their cheapest banquet is $62.9 per person, which is quite pricey, especially for a casual dinner.
We’re also a bit disappointed with the service. We had to wait for half an hour before our orders were taken and then waited another 30 minutes before our food was served.
We also saw people waiting outside the restaurant. Some of them have made prior bookings but still had to wait because there was no table available for them.
On the bright side, Eros offers delivery, so you can avoid waiting outside of the restaurant.

Pros
- Great yiros
- Extensive menu
- Near the beach
- Generous serving
Cons
- Long lines
- They sometimes get the order wrong
If you’re searching for the best yiros in the city, then SKARA Greek Street Food is the place to go.
Offering pork yiros, chicken yiros, lamb yiros, calamari yiros, and even vegetarian yiros, SKARA knows precisely how to make yiros that will make its customers return.
Their tzatziki sauce is one of the best in Adelaide, so it’s not surprising that their yiros, especially the pork one, are very flavourful.
If you can’t choose which meat to use, you can order the combination yiros, which uses both lamb and pork.
They also offer other menu items like dolmathes, Greek salad, befteki, and more if you’re not up for yiros.
Another great thing about SKARA is they’re very generous when it comes to their serving. We’re always surprised by the sizes because it’s much more than other restaurants.
The only problem with dining in SKARA is facing a long line of customers.
As it is a very popular restaurant in the area, you’ll find people lining up early, so getting in will take some time.
Also, because of the large number of customers, there are instances when the waiters get the orders wrong.
