The 5 Best Gym Memberships in Adelaide with Unique Perks

  • Facilities - We chose gyms that maintain cleanliness inside the gym itself, the shower area, and the restrooms. We also considered if the equipment and machines are well-maintained and clean.

  • Amenities - We considered gym memberships in Adelaide that offer extra amenities like spaces dedicated to classes and even apps!

  • Value - We picked gyms that offer the best value for the members' fees.

  • Accessibility - We evaluated the accessibility of the location and the gym’s business hours.

That’s why my gym buddy and I toured gyms in the city to compare their membership offerings. Needless to say, we broke a sweat along the way because of the many options!

Gym memberships are notoriously hard to cancel. So when I set out to find one, I thought, “If I was going to be stuck with one gym, it better provide me with the space and equipment I need and some bonus perks!”

But our search finally led us here with our list of gym memberships that are worth your dime.

Pros

  • Free parking spaces near the gym
  • Accessible location
  • Free nutrition advice
  • Clean place
  • New equipment

Cons

  • No dedicated area for classes
  • Small place
  • Unstaffed on Sundays

Iron Industry gym offers several classes like kickboxing, H.I.I.T., and abs and core strengthening.

The free nutrition advice the gym gives is an excellent bonus to the members, as maintaining a healthy and lean body doesn’t end with just exercising.

We also appreciate that they keep the place clean. It’s easy for gyms to get dirty because of the number of visitors, but the staff can maintain a clean environment for their customers.

They also have a lot of new equipment. The gym increased the number of equipment they have to accommodate more customers and replace the old ones.

One thing we were disappointed about, though, is the fact that they don’t have a dedicated area for classes. This limits the movement the class and other visitors can do.

The space is also small, so it can get cramped easily, which can make the stay at the place unpleasant.

Another thing to note is they are unstaffed on Sundays, so only members can access the place on that day.

    Pros

    • Well-maintained equipment
    • Accessible location
    • Spacious
    • Open 24 hours
    • Helpful staff
    • Over 500+ clubs
    • Members have access to all clubs

    Cons

    • Some instances of the bathroom being dirty
    • Need to pay the remaining weeks of the month when cancelling membership

With over 500 clubs worldwide, it is easy to understand why Anytime Fitness is a part of this list.

Getting a membership here allows you to access all 500 gyms that they have. Whether in Adelaide or other parts of Australia, you won’t have to worry about missing a day on your routine if you’re travelling.

Another reason why we like this place is its spacious area. It gives the customers a bigger place to move and doesn’t restrict their movement.

Because of their space, they’re also able to host a wider range of equipment. It’s also a plus that they do a great job at maintaining this equipment.

Some customers, however, said the shower rooms get really dirty. A shower is essential after a long workout, so seeing a dirty shower room is disappointing.

With the number of visitors, it can’t be avoided that the shower rooms will get dirty sometimes. However, it would be better if the gym could pay more attention to these rooms and thoroughly clean them.

Additionally, their membership cancellation procedure could be better. Many former members are frustrated that they have to pay for the month’s remaining weeks rather than simply terminating their membership immediately.

Nonetheless, the perks and gym quality are all valuable enough to try getting a membership.

      Pros

      • Accessible location
      • Most classes are held at lunchtime
      • Dedicated group fitness room
      • Multiple gyms around the world
      • Members have access to all of their gyms
      • Has an app that guides members on their workout

      Cons

      • Customer service needs improvement
      • Some instances of the equipment being dusty
      • Unstaffed on weekends

As one of the biggest chains of gyms in Australia and possibly the world, it’s not surprising to see Snap Fitness make it on the list.

After its foundation in 2003, Snap Fitness has been a part of hundreds of people’s journey to a healthier body. Their branch in Adelaide also aims to help Adelaide folks in their journey.

Our favourite thing about this gym is its Snap App. The app provides over 1,200 workout routines and meal plans customised to the member’s dietary preference and goals and tracks progress inside and outside the gym.

We also like that most of their classes are held at lunchtime. Some clients come for a few minutes during their breaks to work out and then return to work.

They also have a dedicated room for group fitness classes. This allows the gym members to freely participate in a class and at the same time, gives the nonmembers a bigger space to move.

However, the staff needs to be more welcoming and accommodating to visitors and members. Some former clients said they encountered rude staff members at the gym.

There were also instances when visitors weren’t accommodated by the staff, failing to open a door or assist them.

It’s also a pity that they are unstaffed during weekends. Visitors who want to try the gym before signing up for a membership can only visit during weekdays because of this.

On a lighter note, they are open 24/7 for members. So if you are already a member, you don’t have to worry about them being unstaffed on weekends.

Members also have access to all the clubs in Australia, which is a great bonus. The gym has multiple branches all over the country, so you can continue going to the gym if you are out of town.

        Pros

        • Wide range of lifting equipment
        • Open 24 hours
        • Staffed 7 days a week
        • Great music selection
        • Well-maintained equipment

        Cons

        • Can get crowded
        • Outdoor space is open after 7 AM only
        • Not enough room for stretching

Ryderwear is better known for its top-quality activewear, but it also has elite gyms.

The main reason this gym made it to the list is its wide range of equipment, especially for lifting. They have several weights, punching bags, and plyometric equipment.

The equipment is also well-maintained. You’ll rarely see broken machines, as the management fixes everything as soon as possible.

We also really like the music selection of the place. Music motivates some visitors and makes the overall stay pleasant, so it will be disappointing if the music is either too loud or too boring.

If you plan on dropping by late at night or very early, you don’t have to worry, as Ryderwear is open for its members 24 hours every day.

On top of that, they’re staffed seven days a week. Visitors can drop by even on weekends to try out the gym.

Just note that the place is not that big, so it can get crowded quickly. They also have a lot of equipment, so finding a decent space to do some stretching is challenging.

The outdoor space would’ve been perfect for stretching, but it only opens after 7 AM, so early visitors will have to wait.

Overall, we think this is the perfect gym for those serious about lifting and wanting to try different weights.

          Accessibility5/5

          Pros

          • Spacious
          • Free crèche
          • Weekend free pass for a guest friend
          • Clean place
          • Wide range of equipment
          • Has a parking space
          • Open 24 hours

          Cons

          • Takes weeks to fix broken equipment
          • Lack of group classes
          • Shower rooms are not the best

Goodlife Health Club is a chain of health clubs with over 80 branches in Australia and New Zealand.

What gives this gym an advantage over the other entries on the list is they offer free crèche, an essential feature for mothers who want to visit and exercise.

In addition, if you avail of the Platinum or Platinum Plus membership, you can bring a friend every weekend for free.

They also have a parking space near the gym, making it more accessible to visitors.

We also like how spacious the place is. This allows them to have a wide range of equipment and accommodate more customers.

It also doesn’t get as crowded as some smaller gyms. Members can exercise freely without being restricted by the lack of space.

Despite being big, they keep the place clean and organised. It’s easy to access the equipment, and they don’t get dusty because the staff look after them a lot.

However, we’re disappointed that they take weeks to fix broken machines.

This isn’t good for those with strict gym routines. If one of the machines they’re using breaks, they’ll have to adjust their routine.

Shower rooms are also not the best compared to other gyms. The water pressure is low, and showers sometimes need to be fixed.

Overall, we believe this place is best for mothers who want to work out but can’t leave their children. Those looking for a gym that offers both traditional gym machines and yoga classes should also try visiting the gym.
