Pros
- Operating since 1980
- Offers private rooms
- Attentive staff
- Authentic Indian food
Cons
- A little pricey
- Can be a little hard to book at times
Jasmin Indian Restaurant is among the top restaurants in Adelaide that serve authentic Indian food.
It first started as a small unlicensed restaurant in 1980 but soon became a go-to restaurant for curry addicts.
Many known personalities like Elton John and Billy Connoly have also visited the restaurant because of its reputation. Politicians and Prime Ministers were also among the satisfied former customers of the restaurant.
Mrs. Singh, the restaurant’s owner and chef, has refined their family recipes over the years but maintained the authenticity of the food.
The restaurant has a very beautiful interior and a classy ambience. The little decorations they have will remind you of India.
Another thing we like is how attentive the staff members were. They were knowledgeable and friendly, always looking out after every diner.
Jasmin also offers private rooms for those celebrating a special occasion or just wanting to be away from the busy main dining room.
Just take note that booking a table can be hard at times. They are often fully booked and won’t be able to entertain more customers.
The menu items are also a bit pricey compared to other restaurants.

Pros
- Operating since 1999
- Wide menu
- Offers Indian beer
- Good ambience
Cons
- Wait time can be long
- Service needs improvement
Established in 1999, Beyond India continues to serve the best Indian cuisines to the people of Adelaide.
This is one of our top picks because of its wide-ranging menu. Their menu includes proper meals and street food from India.
We also appreciate that they have vegetarian options to accommodate the diet of certain diners.
The wine list is also just as good as the dishes. They even offer a number of beers from India to give diners the full Indian experience.
The drinks bar that they have inside the restaurant is one of the favourites of locals.
The simple restaurant interior also adds value to the entire dining experience. The cream-painted walls and brown chairs provide a relaxing ambience to diners.
However, we’re concerned about the number of reports from former customers who experienced bad service from some of the waiters.
The wait time can also be long for certain dishes. It may take a few minutes before the main dish is served especially when there are a lot of customers.

Pros
- Accessible location
- Authentic Indian food
- Reasonable price
- Can host a private function
Cons
- Not for those looking for a fancy dinner
- Wait time can be long
Located at the heart of Adelaide CBD, New India Restaurant serves Adelaide folks not just authentic Indian dishes but also exotic Indian food.
We appreciate that they maintain the price reasonable and relatively cheap despite their high-quality food.
They also have a wide-ranging menu. For vegetarians, they have a specific section in their menu that caters to their diet.
Our favourites on the menu are the malai tikka and kadhai paneer. We were told that these are the specialties of the head chef, and we totally understand it.
The restaurant can also host private functions. So if you want to share their food with your co-workers or family, you can contact them and inquire.
As the interior is very simple and laid-back, we do not recommend it to people who want to experience a fancy and sophisticated dinner.
Unfortunately, some customers expressed disappointment regarding the wait time for food. We believe that a great restaurant doesn’t just offer tasty food but also great service, so we hope they can improve this.

Pros
- Offers private room function
- Offers catering service
- Reasonable price
- Authentic Indian ambience
- Open all week
- Offers free delivery
Cons
- Wait time can be long
- Some instances of booking problems
Another favourite Indian restaurant of ours is Raj on Taj Hyde Park.
We love that they boast authentic Indian decor when you walk in. The lights and brick wall also add to the cosy and casual ambience of the interior.
They also serve high-quality Indian cuisine, made of fresh ingredients. The flavour of each food is well-balanced and the spice hits just right.
The menu is also relatively large, giving you lots of choices for your meal.
On top of that, their food servings are priced reasonably. You don’t have to worry about spending a hefty amount just to have a great meal.
We also appreciate that the restaurant offers free delivery for certain dishes. It’s also very convenient that you can order from Uber Eats, Menulog, Deliveroo, and DoorDash.
What we were quite disappointed about, however, is how long the wait time can be. Some dishes come fast, but some take a long time before they are served.
Some customers also experienced problems with their table booking. Some bookings were not recorded, so customers were left to wonder if they can eat at the restaurant.
On a lighter note, you should try the mango lassi when you drop by. It’s one of the best drinks that they offer.

Pros
- Options available for vegetarians
- Offers function catering
- Good parking
- Cosy ambience
- Authentic Indian food
Cons
- A bit pricey for the serving
- Some instances of problems with online orders
Focused on serving dishes that transcend the boundaries of any one region in India, Chefs of Tandoori earned its spot on our list.
With its cosy ambience, diners can experience authentic Indian food and enjoy both lunch and dinner.
They also have an ample amount of parking space so you don’t have to worry about bringing your cars.
If you liked their food and want them to serve during important functions, they may do so, as they offer private function catering.
Another thing that we like about Chefs of Tandoori is that they offer a la carte meals and banquets.
They also have a very wide range of menu selections. You might have a hard time deciding which food to order because of the number of dishes that they serve.
On top of that, they have a bar where they display their drinks. Just like their food menu, they offer many drinks to give the customers more choices.
The food, however, is a little pricey. The serving is relatively smaller than what we expected for the price.
Some customers also experienced problems with their online orders. Some orders were not yet ready by the time they told customers to pick them up, causing them to wait longer.
Nonetheless, it’s still a great Indian restaurant that you should consider when craving authentic Indian cuisine.
