Pros
- Over 100 years of experience
- Offers other services other than repair services
- Reasonable price
- Fast turnaround time
Cons
- Makes mistakes in adjustments at times
- Customer service can be improved
Bell and Brunt Jewellers has been in the jewellery market for over 100 years and has helped over 500,000 people with their jewellery needs.
They have the knowledge, skills, and experience to help you with whatever repair your jewellery may need.
The shop also offers other services like remodelling, valuation, engraving, gemstone identification, pearl rethreading, and more.
Our favourite thing about Bell & Brunt is how fast they get the repair done. They make sure to get it done on the day they promised, sometimes even earlier.
This, however, doesn’t mean they rush the process and end up sacrificing the quality of the repair.
They do make a few mistakes with the adjustments, though. They sometimes don’t get the length the customer requested perfectly, but this is mostly because of miscommunication and can be fixed easily.
We also love how reasonable their services are. With how experienced they are, we expected a bigger price tag, but they are very fair with their prices.
We just hope that they can improve their customer service a bit more. We went to check some of their jewellery and were disappointed with how unwelcoming and aloof the staff who assisted us was.
We weren’t given any suggestions, and all of her answers to our questions were short and not that helpful. It was such a big contrast compared to the lady serving the other couple in the store.

Pros
- Over 140 years of experience
- Open 7 days a week
- Provides a condition report
- Great customer service
Cons
- Closes earlier than scheduled at times
- Limited diamond selection
Gerard McCabe is a familiar name for many Adelaideans, especially those who are big fans of jewellery. They’ve been around for over 140 years and have sold and repaired thousands of jewellery items.
You can visit the store if you need jewellery repaired or restored, so you don’t have to worry about forever losing the beauty of your favourite ring or necklace.
They have a limited diamond selection, so we were a bit worried that they can’t repair jewellery items that have different types of gems.
Thankfully, they do have the means to source the right gems for the jewellery items they’re repairing.
What we love about Gerard McCabe is the excellent customer service that they provide. It made us understand why they lasted this long in the industry.
Upon our visit, we found everyone in the store welcoming and friendly.
Some clients also reported that the staff answers emails and calls efficiently, even giving constant updates about the repair process.
We also love that they provide a condition report, which helps customers with their insurance claims.
We’re just a bit disappointed that there are times when they close earlier than the actual closing time.
When we first visited, we arrived at 4:00 PM and they were already closed despite their website saying they would be open until 4:30.
Thankfully, though, they’re open 7 days a week, so we just came back the next day.

Pros
- Over 30 years of experience
- Wide variety of services
- Great workmanship
Cons
- Customer service can be improved
- Slow turnaround time
For almost 30 years, James Thredgold has been designing and crafting jewellery as a Member of the Diamond Guild of Australia. He uses his expertise in his own boutique in Norwood.
The shop can do restoration, repairs, polishing, cleaning, pearl and bead rethreading, and even redesigning of jewellery. They’re especially great at repairing antique jewellery items, so if you have some heirlooms that need fixing, visit the shop.
Our favourite thing about the shop is their jewellers’ great workmanship. They can bring jewellery back to its old glory, free from the damages it had.
They also have great attention to detail, so you won’t find any scratches or dents once you pick up the jewellery.
We got a ring repaired by them and were amazed by how well it turned out. It was like a brand new ring since they polished it before handing it back to us.
However, it took a long time before they called us back. We think they’re much slower than other jewellers, which some of their former clients also noted.
Their customer service was also not the best in the industry. Some staff members weren’t as nice as we hoped, which was pretty disappointing.

Customer service | 4.5/5 |
Pros
- Over 50 years of experience
- Friendly and professional staff
- Repairers are on-site
Cons
- Closes earlier than scheduled at times
- Communication with the customers can be improved
Class A Jewellers has been serving Adelaideans since 1972, and they’ve built a strong reputation when it comes to the quality of their products and their craftsmanship.
Our favourite thing about their repair service is they have their repairers on-site, so they can perform the entire process at the store. This also allows them to finish the job faster.
Additionally, this lessens the risk of loss, which is one of the biggest worries customers have when getting their jewellery fixed.
They can do general repairs, ring resizing, pearl restringing, cleaning, polishing, and even watch repairs, so just bring jewellery with you to their showroom if you need their help.
Another thing we love about them is their friendly and professional staff.
On our visit, we overheard a lady asking about her necklace, and the staff was very patient with answering her questions.
Aside from that, all of the staff were smiling throughout our visit, which made us feel comfortable.
The only disappointing part about their customer service is their communication with the customer.
They sometimes don’t inform customers who’ve made prior arrangements that the jeweller won’t be in the store to help them, causing the clients to waste time and effort.
In addition to this, they sometimes close earlier than scheduled without letting the customers know.

Pros
- Over 50 years of experience
- Fast turnaround time
- Wide variety of services
- Offers laser repair
Cons
- Customer service can be improved
- Some jewellery gets dents after repair
Established in 1972, Adelaide Jewellery Repair Specialists is one of the best shops to go to if your jewellery needs complicated repair.
Tim, the shop’s jeweller, is known to be one of the best when it comes to repairing jewellery items in Adelaide. In fact, many call him “Mr Fix It Man” because of his skills and knowledge.
The shop offers cleaning, polishing, ring repairs, chain repairs, remodelling, and pearl rethreading. They’re also one of the few jewellers who offer laser repair.
They use lasers to repair jewellery items to make sure that they don’t cause the jewellery any further damage.
Another advantage that they have is their efficiency. Some repairs that can take other jewellers at least a week only take them a couple of days.
However, there are instances when jewellery items come back with dents, which defeats the fast turnaround time, as they sometimes need to be sent back for further polishing.
The customer service is also disappointing.
On our visit, we noticed that some staff were a bit rude and dismissive, so we just decided to look around on our own.
