5 Best Pet Boarding Services in Adelaide Fur Babies Love Staying In

  • Variety of facilities: The pet boarding services should be able to accept more than one kind of pet and not be limited, for example, to only cats or dogs.
  • Pricing: I looked for services within the financial capabilities of most clients (including me), especially for those looking to board more than one pet, or for an extended stay.
  • Convenience of access: The pet boarding services and facilities should be available most hours and can adjust to any emergencies, sudden requests or changes in the schedules of clients.
  • Quality: We checked the experience and proficiency of the staff and the facilities. These should cater to each pet’s specific needs, ensuring they are well-cared for.

In a few weeks, I will be packing for a quick 2-day getaway outside Adelaide. Even just imagining it gets me excited! The sights, food, places…Oh, my!

But right now, I am worried about my pets’ welfare. Who will be looking after them while I am gone? How do I make sure they are well-cared for and in trusted hands?

That’s why I scouted for pet boarding services and evaluated the best ones for my furry companions. I made a list. I checked it twice and made sure these ones align best with my pets’ interests.

I first checked out Beau’s Pet Hotel, located near the Adelaide Airport. If I’m going to be in a rush before my trip, I thought it would be easy for me to drop off my pets here and head straight to my flight.

They have three options for dogs and two accommodation types for cats. What I liked here is that they have weekly and per-day stay options available.

I can entrust my dog to their care for a maximum of seven days. Meanwhile, I can pay a per-day fee for my cat. This is perfect, since I am only travelling for two days!

But I am a bit disheartened that there are fewer facilities catering to cats compared to dogs. I want my pets to have an equally pleasant stay.

Pros

  • Dog and cat accommodations available
  • Has a short stay available, per-day fee for cats and up to seven days for dogs

Cons

  • Facilities and accommodations for cats are limited compared to those for dogs
  • More focused on dogs, not a lot of options for other pet types

Staff is competent and caring for pets

We travel down from regional SA for medical appointments and I have an anxious dog.  The staff understand this and I cannot rate the caring and competent staff highly enough.  As Holly is an older dog leaving her at Beau’s allows me peace of mind knowing that she is safe and well cared for.  It is the only place I would leave her.

Provides updates on pets during stay

Brilliantly friendly and loving towards our Rockert. Was his very first time away from us and not staying with family or friends so the team kept us in touch with his progress. Will definitely be using them again if we ever have to travel without him. Thanks to all

I scheduled a visitation appointment with Golden Grove Boarding Kennels & Cattery to view what they have to offer my pets.

First off, what stood out to me was the wide, lush exercise yards where I saw checked-in pets play. It gave me the impression that mine would have a fun time running here!

What I liked about their service is that they can curate a specialised dietary menu for pets, free of charge. That was how I knew my sensitive cat, who has a specific vet-recommended diet to strictly follow, would be safe here.

Speaking of vets, they also have ones in-house. That information further assured my pets’ utmost care for their health during their stay.

What I was a bit particular about was the boarding price. While cats have a fixed price of $22 for their stay, dogs can cost up to $37. But this is considering the dog’s size.

    Pros

    • Dog and cat accommodations available
    • Has a long and short stay available
    • Has an exercise and play yard for pets
    • Has in-house vets
    • Can curate specific menus for pets with dietary needs

    Cons

    • Dog facilities can cost more depending on the dog’s size

      Puppy came home happy

My Puppy was in great hands, she was looked after so well. She came home very happy, and calm. Kennels where very clean and extremely cool, considering it was 40C outside. Thank you for looking after her so well, highly recommend.

Our pets are bubbly under their care

We’ve taken our two dogs and cat to Golden Grove Boarding Kennels 3 times now and every time they are well looked after and come home their happy bubbly selves. Dylan and Tabitha are always so warm and welcoming. We travel over 30 minutes because of how great it is. Highly recommend.

I also worried about having trouble dropping off and picking up my pets from the boarding service. What if my car breaks down? So, I went and inquired about Kip Adelaide North Cat & Dog Boarding.

What I liked here is their transport service. This lets the staff pick up and drop off the pets to and from their facility on their scheduled check-in. Less worries for me to make the drive and be on time!

When I checked their facilities, I considered the various options they have. It ranges from private kennels, luxury dog stays, dog walk activities, one-on-one solo cat play, and even a cat cuddle session!

The array of choices I have makes their pricing make sense. Dog solo rooms start at $53 a day, equipped with insulation and air-conditioning. Cats are priced at $43 a day in a climate-controlled environment, each cat having their own space.

While I am aware the pricing may be too high for my budget, I can see that their facilities match it well.

      Pros

      • Dog and cat accommodations available
      • Has multiple choices for dog and cat rooms
      • Has various activities and solo sessions for dogs and cats
      • Has a special transport service

      Cons

      • Expensive
      • Closed during public holidays

        Daily updates and pet playtime

Kip north Adelaide. Amazing. I had two 5 month old brother and sister puppies going for a week. I asked if they could have playtime together and the lady’s were happy to do so. They send daily photo uploads which made myself and my family so happy. Absolutely amazing place felt very comfortable leaving my puppies there.

While I have been able to find suitable cat and dog boarding facilities for my pets, my travel buddy is still struggling. See, his pet is a parrot! It’s quite different from the usual pet, but still deserving of a comfortable place to stay while we are away.

Thankfully, I found Hedgegrove Pet Retreat. I immediately told my friend about it because they have services and accommodations made especially for birds and small animals! I can also consider checking in my pets here alongside my travel buddy’s parrot.

But, compared to a small animal’s fee of $13 (minimum), cats are charged at least $32, and dogs $47. However, this is understandable with the range of facilities they have.

I saw they have a garden, air conditioning indoors, and assorted greenery feed for exotic pets! I even heard music being played upon request if pets need it to sleep.

I was also not scared of the different animal species clashing during their stay. I was reassured that the boarding facility knows how to handle a diverse set of pets, especially because they have been operating since 1985.

        Pros

        • Dog and cat accommodations available
        • Accommodations and services for birds, small animals, and exotic pets
        • Staff present 24/7

        Cons

        • Expensive

Staff cares well for exotic pets

It was hard to find a place to look after our parrot while away and are so happy we found Hedgegrove where we know he is safe, secure and so well cared for. He always comes home happy and healthy, thank you!

          Convenient and comfortable

We have been using Hedgegrove Pet Retreat for a few years now and our fur babies love it there. They get really looked after by the amazing staff and have so much fun there while we’re away. We’ve used other boarding kennels before and Hedgegrove is the best by far. The ability to do a morning and afternoon pick up and drop off makes it very convenient as well. I highly recommend them for your fur baby!!

Because my cat is sensitive and seems to prefer an environment free from dogs other than mine, I considered Lucky Lodge & Scraps Garden Boarding Cattery for her.

This one is made specifically for cats, with no other kinds of pets in sight. This is suitable for fussy felines like mine who want to mingle only with fellow kitties.

Their staff has a strict “no cat mixing” rule. This prohibits cats from different owners from having unwanted contact by having private quarters.

I was also astounded by their pricing starting at $15 per cat per day, which already includes meals, heated solo accommodations, a play place, and fresh daily litter.

The family responsible for this cat boarding has been running it since 2002. Knowing their years of experience and a location far from the main road, I can entrust my quirky cat in a serene place with careful experts.

Still, it was quite disheartening to think about separating my cat and dog’s boarding while I am vacationing. When I also asked about vet care and pet transportation, the staff said there would be additional charges.

          Pros

          • Cat specialty accommodations
          • Has a rule that prevents mixing cats
          • Recommended for sensitive felines
          • Located in an area with no triggering noises for cats
          • Affordable

          Cons

          • Cats only
          • Additional charges for special cat diet and specific pick-up or drop-off needs
          • Additional charges for vet care

A place full of cat lovers

You can tell a true cat lover immediately!  Jackie is just amazing… our cats have always come home happy and content and in excellent condition.  Cannot praise the service enough.

Cat loved the boarding even as a first-timer

This was the first time we used Lucky Lodge for our cat. Our cat didn’t seem to be stressed being there. The ladies were also nice and loved all the cats that were there.
