Adelaide Town Hall is an easy choice for a conference venue because of its central location on King William Street. It was my pick when I needed to host an event for an annual conference.

Its Auditorium and Banqueting Room retain much of its original 1860s design, providing an elegant and sophisticated space. They also have rooms with contemporary looks like the Meeting Hall and David Spence Room.

I also commend their flexibility in capacity, offering rooms that can host anywhere from 50 to 1,100 people. All rooms have good lighting and are well-equipped with audio-visual technology.

In addition, their in-house staff are very friendly and accommodating to requests. I appreciate how they made sure to inform me about the venue’s limitations while still trying to bring life to my ideas if possible.

In terms of downsides, however, the venue is often fully booked a year in advance. Also, their fees can be a bit pricey.

Pros

  • Flexible capacity
  • Central location
  • Elegant backdrop
  • Professional staff

Cons

  • Often fully booked a year in advance
  • Pricey

Absolutely gorgeous venue both inside and out.

“Absolutely gorgeous venue both inside and out. Has obviously been operating ( + maintained) at the highest of standards. Attended a ticketed dancing event and could not fault ANY part of the night. Everything from the neat and tidy, well presented staff.”

What a beautiful building and such an elegant venue to hold events!

“What a beautiful building and such an elegant venue to hold events! Functional rooms are available for corporate events. Have been here a few times and it has been a great experience every time! Saturday (12th August 2023) saw it with a Military Parade/Ceremony in front of the town hall!”

Sfera’s Park Suites & Convention Center is for conferences where some guests will need accommodation, as they have 22 rooms available for lodging.

The center is located at Civic Park in Modbury and is a popular spot for corporate events.

I appreciate that they have over 11 conference rooms, accommodating events of various sizes. Additionally, their indoor restaurant and bar offer a diverse food selection that is frequently praised.

The large size of their parking lot also adds convenience for guests.

That said, they’re 20 minutes from Adelaide CBD, which may not be ideal for some. In addition, their fees for room additions like projectors and lapel mics are expensive.

Pros

  • 22 rooms for lodging
  • 11 conference rooms
  • Good catering
  • Large parking space

Cons

  • 20 minutes from Adelaide CBD
  • Pricey fees for room additions (such as projectors and lapel mics)

The function room was beautiful and the staff were great.

“ Excellent venue with great food. It is a lovely setting for any important event. ”

Adelaide Convention Centre is the largest conference venue in Adelaide, as it has over 50 rooms available and over 20,000 square meters of space.

It’s one the first centers in Australia built specifically for conferences, and it accomplishes its job perfectly given its team’s dedication to always updating its production technology (such as lighting and sounds).

In addition, they have some of the best representatives I’ve talked to. Their project management skills are commendable, as they follow deadlines tightly and are always responsive when contacted.

In addition, the center has a very accessible and picturesque location in North Terrace that overlooks the River Torrens.

As a popular choice, however, the center is often fully booked a year in advance. Its rental rates are also steep.

Pros

  • Over 50 rooms
  • Updated production technology
  • Dependable representatives
  • Accessible and picturesque location

Cons

  • Often fully booked a year in advance
  • Pricey

It’s big enough without needing its own rail network to get around.

“Convention centers are all alike. But this one is great, as it’s located in a central location, and right on the river Torrens. It’s also big enough without needing its own rail network to get around.”

Adelaide Oval Functions and Events is known for its excellent international cuisine. They offer a special conference menu with many healthy options, tailored to suit different times of the day.

As part of the city’s central sporting area, it’s highly accessible. I also found the view here to showcase the urban side of Adelaide.

They offer 24 conference spaces, including one that can host 2,000 people. All rooms are equipped with excellent audio and visual technology, and the lighting is sleek and sophisticated.

In addition, they also have the Oval Hotel in case your delegates need a place to stay in. Their rates for these are reasonable given their accessibility.

As a sporting venue, however, it can be crowded here when there’s a game. Also, their parking space is limited.

Pros

  • Good food
  • Accessible
  • Great view of Adelaide CBD
  • Near the Oval Hotel

Cons

  • Crowded when there’s a game
  • Limited parking space

It is a spectacular venue with views to the city

“I attended a Podiatry conference at this venue and was thoroughly impressed. It is a spectacular venue with views to the city one way and of the oval the other. Catering was spot on, with many delegates commenting on the quality of the food.”

Ayers House has a more historic and vintage look. The mansion was built in 1876 and has since been restored to be used as a museum and events place. It has Regency architecture that makes events feel more glamorous.

Their team is composed of experts in events management and venue decor too. They are quick to understand specifications and provide great advice to manage costs.

That said, their rooms are smaller than most venues, accommodating 500 at most. Also, their in-house food options are limited.

Pros

  • Maintains original Regency architecture
  • Historic charm
  • Good with event management and venue decor

Cons

  • Small venue
  • Limited in-house food options

Nice looking and well placed venue

“Nice looking and well placed venue. Food was good and the staff were friendly for our seminar. After being asked they remembered to put out soy milk reliably. Water at the tables was refilled in between every break at the seminar.”

Beautifully designed and maintained Building

“Historical Adelaide Mansion that was home to the Ayer’s Family in the 1800s and had a varied life in the following years. Beautifully designed and maintained Building that is a Function and Restaurant Venue today, with an opportunity to enjoy for any special occasion”
