Wake up inspired at the best hotels with a view in Adelaide!

Sometimes you don’t need to travel far to feel like you’re on holiday. I’ve found that a staycation is the perfect way to recharge without the hassle of airports or long drives.

For me, the best ones always involve booking a hotel where the best views are guaranteed to be spectacular. I fell in love with Adelaide’s skyline, and waking up to see the city spread out from a high vantage point is something else entirely.

It’s a simple pleasure that makes a night away feel special. And because I don’t want anyone to miss out on that magic, I’ve pulled together a list of the best hotels in Adelaide offering the best views.

For my latest staycation, I chose Quest on Franklin, which is located right in the heart of Adelaide. Being able to walk to Rundle Mall, the Central Market, and plenty of cafes made the location incredibly convenient.

The serviced apartment I stayed at felt spacious and homely, with a proper kitchen and laundry that made it easy to settle in. Having a fitness centre and secure parking on-site was quite handy too.

But, of course, the view from the higher floors is why I really picked this place. From up there, you get a sweeping look across central Adelaide, with sights stretching toward Victoria Square and out to the Adelaide Hills.

Pro tip:

Take advantage of the Quest Advantage program when booking Quest on Franklin. Being a member grants you some neat perks, like a 10% discount on every stay, an early check-in option, and priority access to their facilities.

Another hotel I had the pleasure of staying at in central Adelaide is Stamford Plaza. Like the other place I mentioned earlier, Stamford’s location makes it easy to reach many of the city’s attractions, including Rundle Mall and the River Torrens.

If you don’t feel like walking around town, booking a room on the upper floors gives you the chance to enjoy those sights from above. I especially enjoy looking out toward Adelaide Oval and Parliament House whenever I stay here.

The amenities are another reason it’s worth spending a night or two here. The hotel features three restaurants, a fitness centre, and a rooftop pool. Taking a swim while admiring the city views is a relaxing highlight that makes the experience memorable.

Pro tip:

If you book at Stamford Plaza, ask for a corner room on one of the higher floors. These rooms often give you dual outlooks, so you can catch both the city skyline and the parklands in one stay. It can make your experience far more memorable, especially at sunrise or when the city lights come on at night.

For the best views of the River Torrens, InterContinental Adelaide is a hotel worth choosing. It sits right along the southern riverbank, only a short walk from Parliament House.

The river-facing rooms let you admire more than just the water. They open up to sweeping views of Adelaide Oval and the parklands north of the river, which are especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

The accommodations are spacious, with marble bathrooms, comfortable beds, and modern touches like Chromecast and high-speed WiFi. Guests can also enjoy an outdoor pool, a fitness centre, and several dining options.

Pro tip:

Check the InterContinental Adelaide offers page before booking. You can often find packages with extras like breakfast, dining credits, or discounted multi-night stays, giving you more value while enjoying those riverfront views.

Largs Pier Hotel is one of those places where the location alone makes the stay memorable. Sitting right on the Esplanade at Largs Bay, it gives you direct access to the beach and a short drive to Port Adelaide.

What I enjoy most is the history of the building, with its architecture and interior design reminiscent of the colonial style that was popular in Adelaide’s earlier days. It almost feels like staying in a villa whenever I book here.

The highlight, though, is the seaside view. From the balconies and upper rooms, you can look straight out over the sand and water, with sunsets across Gulf St Vincent that are truly unforgettable.

Pro tip:

Another great way to enjoy the bayside views is by reserving a table at Largs Pier Hotel’s Pier Deck. The menu often highlights fresh local seafood, so you can relax with a plate of fish and chips or a glass of South Australian wine while watching the sun sink slowly over the horizon.

Not to be confused with Stamford Plaza, the Stamford Grand Adelaide Hotel is another solid choice for anyone wanting seaside views. It sits right on Moseley Square at Glenelg, beside the beach, and is only a short drive from the airport.

For the price, the rooms you get are quite spacious and comfortable, with premium bedding and additional features like WiFi and minibars. There are also amenities like an outdoor pool, a game room, and a casino to keep you occupied.

When it comes to views, the ocean-facing rooms open directly to Gulf St Vincent, giving you sunsets that light up the water. City-facing rooms are just as impressive, with sweeping outlooks across most of Adelaide’s skyline.

Pro tip:

Stamford Grand Adelaide Hotel has gift certificates that can be bought directly through their website and emailed to you or the recipient. They can be used for stays, dining, or special packages, making them a flexible way to plan a seaside getaway or give someone a memorable gift.

Aviation enthusiasts take note because there’s a cool hotel in Adelaide where you can really enjoy your hobby to the fullest! Atura Adelaide Airport sits right inside the terminal and is a convenient choice for both business and leisure stays.

I stayed here once while waiting for my flight to Tokyo and found the rooms modern and comfortable, with smart design touches, free WiFi, and plenty of charging points. There are even amenities like a restaurant and a cafe available.

But the real surprise for me was the view. My room looked directly over the runway, so I could watch planes take off and land. What impressed me most was how well soundproofed the room was, since I barely heard the jet engines throughout my stay.

Pro tip:

Sign up for EVT Stays online before booking Atura Adelaide Airport. The membership is free and gives you instant discounts on rooms and dining. You also earn points for future stays, which means you start saving and collecting rewards from the very first booking.

If you enjoy being surrounded by greenery but still want easy access to the city centre, Oval Hotel is a great option. Set within the grounds of Adelaide Oval, it’s only minutes from central Adelaide, so getting around is simple.

You can book rooms that overlook the parklands with a beautiful view of St Peter’s Cathedral. There are also rooms that face the skyline if you prefer to take in the livelier side of the city.

A friend of mine stayed here way back for the Big Bash League Grand Final and said his experience was pleasant. His room had custom furnishings, free WiFi, and a marble bathroom, which made the stay feel both comfortable and stylish.

Pro tip:

Oval Hotel offers unique experiences worth trying. You can hire a bike to explore Adelaide’s parklands at your own pace or book the RoofClimb for incredible views of the city and its coastline from the top of Adelaide Oval.

Mount Lofty House Estate feels like a retreat that highlights the lesser-known yet equally majestic side of Adelaide. Set high in the Adelaide Hills at Crafers, it’s only about 15 minutes from the city but feels completely removed from the bustle.

The estate is surrounded by 30 acres of gardens and overlooks the Piccadilly Valley, giving guests sweeping views across vineyards and rolling hills. I’ve not stayed here myself because of the prices, but I’ve heard the experience is truly special.

From many rooms and terraces, you can watch the valley shift with the light, with cool experiences like golden sunsets over the ranges to misty mornings that make the hills glow. This place is one of the most memorable vantage points near Adelaide.

Pro tip:

Book a dinner at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant during your stay at Mount Lofty House Estate. This fine dining experience (one of the many excellent ones in Adelaide) pairs perfectly with the estate’s sweeping views over Piccadilly Valley, and reserving ahead ensures you get the best seating for sunset.

I find Lakes Resort Hotel a great choice when I want a relaxed waterfront setting. Located in West Lakes, it’s about 20 minutes from the airport and only a short drive to Henley Beach or Port Adelaide.

One thing that stands out is how much they want you to enjoy the view from your room. Most rooms open onto balconies that overlook the lake, giving you calm water views right from your bed.

The hotel is also well-equipped with features such as flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities, and free WiFi. The fact that there’s also a nearby shopping mall with restaurants and a movie theatre is why this hotel is one of my top staycation spots.

Pro tip:

You can make your stay at Lakes Resort Hotel a bit more exciting by booking during one of their events. The hotel often hosts activities such as quiz nights, happy hour, and live music performances to keep guests entertained.

Be sure to check their Facebook page for details on when these events are scheduled so you can plan your visit around them.
