Pros
- Convenient location
- Wide variety of suite options
- Indoor and outdoor play areas
- Offers dog-grooming
- Owner-prepared meals are allowed
Cons
- Minimum of 2-day charge
- Not consistent with updates
Conveniently located near Adelaide Airport, Beau’s Pet Hotel is the perfect kennel for your fur friend to stay at while you’re out of the country.
The kennel offers a wide variety of suite options to ensure your dog has a comfortable stay. They have classic, short-stay, deluxe, and premier suites.
The suites are pretty spacious, so there’s enough room for dogs to roam around. The classic rooms are large enough for small and mid-sized dogs, but if your dog is in the larger size, the deluxe suite might be a better choice.
The most impressive facility of Beau for us is its play areas. They have both indoor and outdoor play areas to make sure each dog can have fun and stay active while in their care.
The outdoor play area is perfect for our dog since he loves running around. It’s one of the main reasons we chose this kennel when we went out of town.
Just note that there’s a minimum charge of 2 days, so even if your pup only stayed for a day, you’ll still have to pay for 2 days.
Another thing we love about them is they offer dog grooming, so it was pretty convenient for us to just get our dog groomed in their facility.
The only thing we weren’t happy about was the kennel’s inconsistency with updates. We asked for daily updates for our dog, but it wasn’t followed.
They didn’t send us photos for two days, so we had to call them to make sure our dog was doing okay.

Pros
- Owner-prepared meals are allowed
- On-site canine behavioural team
- Provides transport services
- Music is played in the kennels
- Reverse cycle air-conditioning
Cons
- Minimum of 2-day charge.
- No 24/7 on-call vet
Established in 1985, Hedgegrove Pet Retreat is very experienced when it comes to taking care of our best friends.
The best thing about this kennel is they have an on-site canine behavioural team, which assures us that there are professionals there taking care of our dogs.
We also love that they play music throughout the building to minimise the stress the dogs may experience due to the new environment.
The kennel also has reverse cycle air-conditioning in their rooms to ensure the dogs are comfortable throughout their stay.
Another thing we love about Hedgegrove is its pet taxi service. It’s very convenient for owners who can’t drop off their pets at the shop.
It’s just a downer that they don’t have an on-call 24/7 vet since we’re not sure what can happen throughout the dog’s stay. This was the deal breaker for us when we were searching for a kennel.
Don’t worry, though, if you still decide to push through with your booking with the kennel since they’ll bring your dog to the nearest veterinary clinic in case of an emergency.
Another thing we weren’t happy about is the 2-day minimum charge that they impose since it’s quite unfair for owners who are only away for a day.

Pros
- Offers transport services
- Standard and luxury suites options
- Spacious yard
- Offers bush walks
Cons
- Can be hard to reach
- Some staff can be aloof
Kip is another dog boarding centre that you can trust with your four-legged best friend. It has several branches in Australia, so finding one near your area isn’t going to be challenging.
We chose the Adelaide North branch for our puppy a few years ago because it’s the closest to us.
When we visited, their spacious yard was what caught our attention. We figured our dog would have a lot of fun playing around, and the green surroundings would help minimise his stress.
We also love that they constantly walk the dogs, so they’re not just bored in their rooms, and they can stay active.
Another thing we love about them is they offer transport services, which are really great and beneficial for customers living in the south.
As for the rooms, they offer classic rooms and luxury villas. The classic rooms are large enough for a big dog to walk around, and it’s also well-insulated, so it’s perfect if you don’t have a big budget.
The only thing we want them to improve would be customer service. We found the staff to be a bit aloof when we asked how our dog was, and we were worried they would treat our dog with the same coldness.
They were also hard to contact at times. We tried contacting them while we were away to ask for an update, but we weren’t able to reach them.

Pros
- On-site veterinary nurse and 24-hour vet assistance
- Can administer dog medication
- Fully insulated and air-conditioned kennels
- Huge yard
- Music is played in the building
Cons
- Cage-like rooms
- Customer service can be improved
Coralta Kennels has been around for 25 years, so they have a lot of knowledge when it comes to dogs.
What we love about this place is they have an on-site veterinary nurse who knows what to do in case there’s an emergency with the dog.
Having a nurse also makes it possible for them to administer dog medication in the safest way possible.
On top of that, they have 24-hour vet assistance, which can help in dire situations, so owners can rest assured that their dogs are safe.
The kennel operates on 12 acres of land, so the dogs have enough room to move around. It’s also surrounded by nature, so the dogs can relax better.
We’re just not big fans of some of the rooms. They’re quite cage-like and close to each other, which can cause stress to the pups.
Fortunately, they’re air-conditioned and insulated, so we don’t have to worry about the temperature.
There’s also music playing in the rooms, which can help the dogs to adjust better to the new environment.
However, another thing we’re not happy about is the customer service. A friend called to check up on her dog but was met with a rude attitude from the staff, which is disappointing since it’s normal for owners to constantly ask for updates.

Pros
- Music is played in the building
- Owner-prepared meals are allowed
- Provides transport services
- Offers other activities for the dogs
- Separate facilities for small and large dogs
Cons
- Inconsistent updates
- No 24/7 on-call vet
- Minimum of 2-day charge
Packed with a wide variety of enriching activities, Windamere Boarding Kennel & Cattery is the perfect place for your active fur baby.
The centre offers yappy hours, paddock and play, hydrotherapy, and doggy day school, so dogs won’t feel bored during their stay.
These activities, however, will incur extra costs, so check the prices first to make sure that the overall cost will still be within your budget.
Another great thing about this centre is they have separate facilities for small and large dogs since some owners of small dogs feel uncomfortable having large dogs around their pets.
It’s also better for larger dogs, as they’ll have more space to move around.
Each dog will have their own private room to make sure it can sleep comfortably. You can also bring some bedding if your dog has a favourite blanket to sleep in.
We only wish they could improve their communication with the owners. They rarely send updates and photos, which causes the owners to worry about their dogs.
We also hope they’ll work on having a 24/7 on-call vet to ensure that pets are provided with emergency care as fast as possible, regardless of the time.
