Adelaide Property Renovations’ 30 years of hard work caught our eye, but what locked them here is winning the 2019 HIA Awards.

The start-to-finish setup helped their case too. For jobs such as full home renos, you’ll get a single crew from conceptual planning all the way to completion.

Having a multi-trade staff also keeps coordination nice and quick, with the carpenters, electricians, plumbers, tilers, and other specialised trades all part of one team.

Responses have lagged in the past, though, particularly emails.

Getting a quote hasn’t always been speedy either. The detailed in-person checks are a perk, but waiting one week for an estimate can test anybody’s patience.

Good thing that barely carries over to the actual work. They often meet deadlines, and most describe the outcomes as good quality.

No Detail Was Too Small

From start to finish APR were in close contact with us during our renovation. Commenced work in August 2023 we were advised that the renovation would be completed before Christmas. Honestly we had no confidence in this based on the delays in the building industry. True to Paul’s word our renovation was completed in early December. Requiring new kitchen/dining/living space, laundry, bathroom and decking alteration. We appreciated his tradespeople who were personable, with tall Steve a favourite with our kids. Every aspect of our planned renovations was discussed, and Paul & Jodie assisted in our decision-making with professionalism and where to source further ideas. We were fully involved and updated at every step of the way, and they patiently and clearly answered our questions or explained various unexpected scenarios in a previously renovated home. No detail was too small or unimportant and anything we raised was dealt with swiftly and efficiently. During the project Paul was involved with the trades on a consistent basis and ensured that everything was completed. We are absolutely thrilled with the results. Turning properties into market-ready gems is what Get Ready to Renovate specialises in. Both cosmetic and functional improvements are based on market knowledge, so you’re not investing blindly.

What truly convinced us, however, is their sharp handling of timelines. Even with crunch time, clients say owner Lisa Haynes and her all-in-one team consistently get it done, even tidying up along the way.

And they do it without going radio silent. Updates and answers at every stage are reportedly fast.

Sadly, the quotes can be off sometimes. One client, for instance, complained about missing details and inaccurate pricing.

That might stem from their limited experience. Most firms we listed are way past the three-year mark.

EcoUrbane’s repeat clients are proof of their work’s high standards. By work, we’re talking about design services, full home renos, roof fitting, extensions, outdoor installations, and custom additions.

For what was a challenging and at times overwhelming project (see photos) Mark made this a relatively simple process. His trades were all fantastic, great to work with and produced high quality work. No challenges were too great and were dealt with promptly while keeping us informed. His flexibility allowed us to tweak details throughout the build without additional cost resulting in a better end result. Variations throughout the build were managed well – they were minimal, reasonably priced & added to the overall quality. Adelaide Home Improvements (AHI) has services you’ll rarely find anywhere else.

Among those is their Add-A-Room solution. Ready-made layouts for alfresco structures, bedrooms, bathrooms, home theatres, and living spaces separate it from traditional reno jobs.

In terms of advantages, it’s relatively quicker and cheaper, as the premade builds come with fixed rates.

Going the bespoke path isn’t a shabby move, don’t get us wrong. AHI’s main team has 20–40 years of experience in design, construction, and project management, something their lauded portfolio reflects.

To boot, Design Manager Wayne tends to stay on budget, charges zip for consults, and, as the clients put it, “extremely responsive.”

The drawback is that you must drop by their Linden Park venue for initial meetings. While it’s only a 12-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD, remote consults remain the handier choice for us, especially with the weekend closure and AHI’s popularity.

After a very disappointing previous renovation/extension experience with a different builder we were quite hesitant to do do another build on our property. We decided to go with AHI & I can tell you, they did not disappoint! From start to finish they were very informative & any questions we had were answered straight away. Enjoyable Building Experience

We are elated by the outcome of our home renovation. We highly recommend Adelaide Home Improvements. The evolution of our wants and needs for renovation was a long process. The patience and care of director (David) and design manager (Wayne) helped us to develop a great plan that was appropriate for our desired budget. If it’s longevity and esteemed rep you’re after, Brilliant SA is worth a look. This contractor started in 2001, bagging MBI, Staron, MBA, and HIA awards since opening.

Much of the credit goes to their solid craftsmanship. From what clients are saying, repeat ones included, the firm has beautiful finishes and reliable structural integrity.

They often stick to the agreed timeline and budget as well, even when challenges arise. Some clients, for example, hit snags caused by ageing homes, but Brilliant sorted them without blowing the schedule or quality.

On top of that, their builders are said to be considerate of homeowners and kids, all while keeping disruption minimal.

No long waits for replies either. Managers/designers such as Livio, Rhiannon, and Jess normally respond within 24 hours.

Just don’t expect bargain rates. Quotes can run high, and free estimates aren’t part of the service (though initial assessments are).

I was referred to Brilliant SA by a friend, and I’m pleased to say I give them a 5-star rating. The plans for my bathroom renovation provided different options than previously sought. The communication has been very responsive and friendly along the process. I have been impressed by the professionalism of the whole team, the quality of the workmanship has been at a very high standard, and my home was left clean and tidy at the end of each day.
