5 Best Window Installers in Adelaide for Heritage and Modern Homes

Thermal performance: I checked the insulation ratings and gas fills in each company's glass. Strong efficiency cuts your summer cooling costs.

Installation credentials: I looked at who fits the frames into your walls. In-house crews and qualified carpenters scored higher than subcontractors. One team then answers for the finished job.

Bushfire safety: I checked the Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) rating on the frames. Homes near the Adelaide Hills need materials that can handle radiant heat and embers.

Warranty terms: I compared the fine print on maker and installer guarantees. A long warranty means little if faults are hard to claim.

Drafty single-pane glass lets summer heat in and winter warmth out, and South Australia gives you plenty of both. Fixing it takes a crew that knows heritage looks, bushfire rules and thermal standards.

So I compared local installers on insulation, crew credentials, bushfire safety and warranty. Before you pay for another temporary window repair, a full upgrade may be the smarter move.

Here are the best window installers in Adelaide for your home.

How much does window installation cost in Adelaide?

Window installation in Adelaide costs from $800 to $1,500 AUD per square metre fully installed. Plastic windows made from uPVC (unplasticised PVC) cost $800 to $1,200, while thermally broken aluminium costs $1,000 to $1,500.

Window materialEstimated cost (per square metre installed)
uPVC double glazed$800 to $1,200
Thermally broken aluminium$1,000 to $1,500

1. Oknalux Adelaide

Website: oknalux.com.au

Address: 1207-1209 South Road, St Marys 5042, SA

Contact: (08) 8876 5300 | 1300 265 250

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Saturday-Sunday, By Appointment

A summer heatwave shows how much heat leaks through old timber frames. Oknalux answers with a very low heat loss rating of 0.75 (lower is better), and a lifetime guarantee covers the glazing units.

Their own installation crew fits the frames, so you aren’t relying on outside subcontractors.

That shows in practice, too. I recently spoke to a homeowner in St Marys who used this crew to upgrade their whole facade. They praised the draught-proof rubber seals most, since those keep hot air out.

However, their uPVC frames top out at Bushfire Attack Level 29 (BAL-29), which rules them out for the highest-risk fire zones. Homes in those areas need another installer.

Pros

  • Own installation crew
  • Very low heat loss rating
  • Lifetime guarantee on glazing units
  • Draught-proof rubber seals

Cons

  • uPVC frames top at BAL-29

Exceptional Noise Reduction and Installation Service

Many [people have detailed the quality of Oknalux products and the great team who install them – and I can only agree. We had a picture window, a small side window and a front door installed, and the impact on noise temperature has been immediate and quite remarkable. Now we’re planning on doing other windows. Great product, great team.

Efficient Installation and Excellent Noise Reduction

We installed a massive double story window. Paul from Oknalux was easy to deal with, the ordering was no fuss and deliver the Windows on time as promised. The installation crew led by Lee were fantastic, worked efficiently and as a team and very careful to keep the work site clean and tidy. The job was completed within two days and the results look great.

We went for triple glazing due to aircraft and traffic noise plus we now get the benefits of temperature control with the start of summer. Looking forward to seeing the winter benefits

A modern extension needs frames that look sharp and meet strict energy rules. Jolong builds thermally broken aluminium units at a 60,000-square-metre base.

The frames also carry Bushfire Attack Level 40 (BAL-40) certification and meet National Construction Code (NCC) energy standards. They even have a car-grade coating that stops the finish from fading in harsh sun.

Two local showrooms let you test the full-size sliding systems before you buy, which helps when you’re choosing big doors you’ll use daily.

However, they keep the sole right to interpret warranty conditions, so any dispute is settled on their terms.

After the warranty ends, you also pay labour if heavy glass needs a second person.

Pros

  • Thermally broken aluminium frames
  • BAL-40 bushfire certification
  • Fade-resistant coating
  • Two display showrooms

Cons

  • Sole discretion on warranty claims
  • Post-warranty labour fees for heavy glass

Great Quality Double Glazed Windows and Service

So, as most people looking for window and door options we looked at suppliers locally, interstate and abroad. Double glazed, thermally broken, stylish windows that fitted our need in the end was our goal.

We chose Jolong. Why?  Quality, Value, Price and supportive friendly service.   The support was consistent from the first contact. The Keswick staff, was great and  fully assisted us in our needs.

Once the order was placed we were notified about the arrival date. In our instance the order arrived earlier than anticipated despite the Covid delays.

Renovating a heritage home means finding tradespeople who respect its quirks. DoubleGlazed.com does that with custom sash-style frames for older homes.

I watched their Lonsdale crew fit those frames on a classic villa last month, and the carpenter took great care to level the uneven brickwork. They employ qualified carpenters directly instead of using subcontractors.

Every custom build also includes toughened safety glass and locally made flyscreens, so there are no surprise add-ons.

However, you must measure up yourself before you get a quote, because they won’t send a technician until you give rough sizes.

Their ten-year warranty also needs a strict maintenance schedule.

Pros

  • Sash-style heritage profiles
  • Directly employed carpenters
  • Toughened safety glass included
  • Locally made flyscreens included

Cons

  • Customers must self-measure for a quote
  • Strict maintenance schedule for warranty

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Showroom Visit By Appointment Only

Waiting weeks for new frames is a pain when a window is cold or noisy. Adelaide Double Glazing Installations avoids imports by making everything in South Australia, which gives them very fast lead times.

Their frames use a “tropical mix” compound that resists warping under strong UV light.

Security is covered too. The panels sit in an internally glazed profile, so intruders can’t pry the beads out from outside, which adds peace of mind for ground-floor bedrooms.

However, the showroom is by appointment only, so you can’t just drop in.

They also offer only uPVC, which rules them out if you need timber for a heritage overlay.

Pros

  • Made locally in South Australia
  • Very fast lead times
  • Warp-resistant UV compound
  • Internally glazed security profile

Cons

  • Showroom by appointment only
  • Only uPVC frames offered

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Saturday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Salt air and strong winds expose weak joinery fast on the coast. Clear Choice Double Glazing tackles that with argon gas fills and double acoustic seals, which both block drafts and street noise.

Trade-qualified carpenters build the frames, and they reach high bushfire ratings without bulky external shutters. That keeps your home’s look intact.

They also cover the installation work, not just the glass, with a ten-year guarantee, so you can claim for workmanship faults too.

However, their workshop is in Aldinga Beach, which is a long trip for anyone in the north. They also refuse commercial jobs, so businesses need to look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Argon gas fills
  • Acoustic double compression seals
  • Ten-year installation guarantee
  • High bushfire ratings without shutters

Cons

  • Far southern workshop location
  • Residential projects only

Immediate Traffic Noise Reduction and Style

Thank you to Dean and his wonderful installers at Clear Choice Double Glazing, what an absolutely wonderful job and product. My two front windows replaced today and what a massive difference. I live on a bus route and the traffic noise has been reduced instantly. The windows are west facing and get the sun all afternoon, summer will be more comfortable with the tint and my dogs who love to sunbathe in the window will be a little safer from the UV rays too. I cannot stop looking at my windows, they’re gorgeous.
