Achieve deep relaxation with the best floatation tanks in Adelaide!

Cleanliness and maintenance - We looked for floatation tank spas that keep their tanks spotless, regularly filter and treat the water, and follow strict hygiene practices so every session feels fresh and safe. Atmosphere and facilities - We checked if the space feels calm and welcoming, with extras like private showers, quality toiletries, and quiet waiting areas that help you ease in and out of the experience. Staff support - We looked at how well their staff explain the process, answer questions, and make first-timers feel at ease before and after the float. Accessibility - We assessed whether these spas are near major roads and public transit stations. We also considered whether they’re open on most days of the week. Price fairness - We evaluated whether their prices are reasonable considering the quality of their tanks, the length of sessions, and whether they offer intro deals, memberships, or package discounts for regular floats.

Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m carrying a backpack full of bricks everywhere I go. Work has been non-stop, the stress keeps piling up, and I’m running on caffeine and stubbornness.

Then a friend, after seeing how wound up I was, told me to try a floatation tank. It’s basically a quiet pod filled with warm, salty water that makes you float like you’re weightless, helping your mind and body switch off completely.

I gave it a go, and now I’m hooked, so I’ve put together some great places in Adelaide where you can try it too!

Blue Lagoon Float and Spa has been around for about seven years, starting in Hyde Park before opening in Fulham Gardens. They’ve picked up awards for their design and luxury feel, including the ABIA Award for Best Salon Design in 2021!

I like that their floatation tanks are set in rooms with about 60% humidity, which makes stepping out of the warm Epsom salt water more comfortable.

They offer solo floats, couples sessions, and even parent-and-child options, which is good for anyone wanting to share the experience or save a bit.

It’s also nice that they have a membership program so regulars can get cheaper sessions and priority bookings.

However, they only use open tank models, so you’ll not get the full sensory deprivation you would in a pod. They also require a 50% deposit to lock in your booking.

Pros

  • Winner of the ABIA Award for Best Salon Design in 2021
  • Floatation tank rooms are always kept at 60% room humidity
  • 2 locations in Adelaide
  • Offers solo, couples, and parent-and-child floats
  • Has a membership program

Cons

  • Only open tank models available
  • Requires 50% deposit to secure bookings

Absolutely loved every moment of my experience!

“Absolutely loved every moment of my experience! My husband and I had bought each other a package earlier in the year and we decided to go together. From the booking, settling in, our amazing relaxing float to our respective treatments. It was brilliant: excellent service where you feel relaxed as everything is taken care of! Just enjoying the moment! Facial was extremely professional. And a surprise awaited us at the end: a glass of bubbles for our wedding anniversary! Thank you to the team for giving us the opportunity to relax, rejuvenate in a beautiful setting”

The whole experience was unbelievable

“I finally redeemed a birthday voucher that was given to me. My goodness it was worth the wait. I had a 30 minute float spa and was able to relax and be by myself. I then had a full body massage in a chair that was state of the art. I selected ‘firm’ and melted back into the chair wearing a luxurious robe and covered in a warm blanket. While this was happening I received a facial and the whole experience was unbelievable. Angela, my facial technician and host, was so lovely and welcoming. I HIGHLY recommend visiting. 💙🩵💙🩵”

Breathe WRL is a wellness spot that caught my attention for the small touches they add to make a floatation session more enjoyable. Like other places, their floatation tanks let you lie back in warm, salty water so your body can fully relax.

What sets them apart is that their rooms have iPads and Bluetooth, so you can play your own music or guided meditations while you float.

They also offer filtered water and herbal tea in the lounge, making it easy to settle in before your session or take your time afterwards.

They even have a package called the WRL Protocol that combines light therapy, compression therapy, an infrared sauna, and a float. It’s designed to help calm the nervous system and leave you feeling recharged.

The only major drawback is that their location can be inconvenient if you don’t live in one of Adelaide’s coastal suburbs.

Pros

  • Has enclosed floatation tanks for full sensory deprivation
  • Option to play personal music via iPads and Bluetooth
  • Offers complimentary filtered water and herbal tea
  • Special package that combines multiple therapies for stress relief

Cons

  • Location a bit far from Adelaide’s eastern suburbs
  • Inconsistent operating hours

I was completely new to floating, so I decided to try Breathe Stretch Float to see what it was all about. Their tanks are spotless and give you that weightless zero-gravity feel, which is great for easing sore muscles or clearing your head.

They have a three-session intro pack for $189, which works out to $63 a float. Now that I’m hooked, I paid $50 to join their Float Club, which means every float for the next year will only cost me $65.

They also offer an Ultimate Pamper Package that combines a float with treatments like salt therapy and massage for a full day of unwinding.

The only catch is that without the intro pack or Float Club, a single 60-minute float is $75, making them one of the pricier options in town. If you plan ahead, the deals make it a much better value.

Pros

  • Spotless, well-maintained floatation tanks
  • 3-session intro pack offers good value for newcomers
  • Membership program locks in lower rates for a full year
  • Ultimate Pamper Package combines float with other treatments
  • Central location

Cons

  • Standard price costs a bit higher than the average
  • Inconsistent operating hours

The float therapy was a unique and tranquil experience

“I had an incredible experience at Breath Stretch Float. The atmosphere is calming from the moment you walk in, with a peaceful and welcoming vibe. The staff are professional and knowledgeable, always making you feel comfortable. We tried the salt room and float therapy, and both left me feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. The float therapy was a unique and tranquil experience that helped to disconnect and truly unwind, while the salt room provided an added layer of calm and healing. I highly recommend Breath Stretch Float to anyone looking for a holistic wellness experience. I’ll definitely be returning!”

Bliss Wellness Club is a good option if you like having a choice in how you float. They have an open pool-style tank for those who prefer more space and a pod-style tank for anyone wanting the full sensory deprivation experience.

What’s good is that they offer prepaid packages that let you book multiple sessions at a discount, along with options that combine a float with a massage or a facial, so you leave feeling relaxed and refreshed.

There’s also a float and sauna combo for a longer, more indulgent session.

Sadly, they tend to get fully booked out quickly. It’s also unfortunate that they sometimes suffer from slow customer service, with some clients waiting close to half an hour past their appointment time before being attended to.

Pros

  • Has both open pool-style and enclosed pod-style tanks
  • Adjustable lighting and music for comfort
  • Prepaid packages with discounted rates
  • Offers float and treatment combos
  • Has float and sauna option for extended relaxation

Cons

  • Tends to get fully booked quickly
  • Slow customer service

Found it to be relaxing beyond anything else I’ve experienced

“My experience at Bliss Wellness was spectacular. I did a 30min float, 30min massage and 30min facial. I had never done float before, and found it to be relaxing beyond anything else I’ve experienced. Shannon was great and she’s an extremely skilled professional. Overall 5 stars, and will hopefully visit again”

Davaar House is a newer wellness spot on South Terrace that has already picked up the Asia Pacific 2024 Spa and Wellness Award for Best New Spa. A big part of that recognition comes from their floatation therapy.

The tanks are spacious and filled with warm Epsom salt water, letting you float without effort and switch off completely. I found it especially good for easing muscle tension after a long week.

You can add extras such as guided meditation, aromatherapy, or a massage to make the most of your visit.

Interestingly, they also have a small cafe with wholesome options like cheese platters and fresh juice, which makes it tempting to linger a little longer.

That said, prices are on the higher side, with a 30-minute float costing around $80. They’re also closed on Sundays and public holidays.

Pros

  • Winner of Best New Spa in Asia Pacific 2024 Spa & Wellness Awards
  • High-quality floatation tanks with spacious design
  • Offers optional add-ons
  • Has an on-site cafe

Cons

  • Above-average prices
  • Unavailable on Sundays and public holidays

Extraordinary experience with the sauna and the floating!

“Extraordinary experience with the sauna and the floating!!! This is something I highly recommend, and not only for the package, but for the lovely staff who make you feel welcome and very comfortable. Beautiful building, very well maintained and clean. They have a cafeteria too if you want to enjoy a latte after your service. For improvement: The sound level for the sauna is perfect, but for the floating it can be very noisy when your ears go into the water. Regardless, I will come back!!!”

Absolutely amazing experience!

“Went here for the first time on the 26th of April. Absolutely amazing experience!! All the girls there are so polite and have just a beautiful presence to them. 10/10 would recommend, going back there this week x”
