I received a tip from my friend to try the centuries-old wisdom of acupuncture. Here, tiny needles are inserted at specific points in the body to promote natural healing.

Adelaide City Acupuncture, with over 25 years in operation, is one of the longest-running acupuncture clinics in the city.
It offers laser acupuncture, a technique that uses low-level lasers to target acupuncture points, which is noted for being painless and may help with tissue healing. This was a great choice for me as someone afraid of needles.
Beyond laser acupuncture, their services address a wide range of concerns, including chronic pain, mental health, cosmetic needs, and fertility issues.
Conveniently located in the CBD, the clinic provides flexible appointment options, making it easy to fit into a busy schedule.
That said, they sometimes abruptly cancel appointments on the same day. Their services are also a bit pricey.
I’m very happy with the treatment I received
“The doctor of this clinic, Dr Geoffrey He, is very professional and gives excellent service. He informed me he’s been doing acupuncture for almost 3 decades, so you can definitely trust he knows what he’s doing! I’m very happy with the treatment I received and will be sure to send any friends or family his way”

Essential Acupuncture Clinic’s distinctive Tung Style technique, which uses fewer needles, made it the clear favorite for one of my friends.
Dr. Julie Zhu, an AHPRA-registered practitioner with training from Mainland China, leads the clinic. She combines traditional Chinese medicine with acupuncture, medicinal herbs, tai chi, and cupping.
Dr. Zhu was especially praised by my friend for her kind, calm, and professional manner, which contributed to a soothing experience. She also effectively communicates with clients to ensure their specific needs are addressed.
In terms of downsides, however, their appointment slots are limited. Also, they take a couple of days to respond to their website contact form.
Incredibly kind, calm, and highly professional
“I recently had my first acupuncture session with Julie, and it was an exceptional experience. Julie is incredibly kind, calm, and highly professional, with over a decade of expertise as an acupuncturist. The environment she creates is not only therapeutic but also deeply relaxing, enhancing the overall treatment. Since my visit, I’ve felt significantly better. If you’re considering acupuncture, I highly recommend seeing Julie.”

Demonstrates expertise, experience and professionalism in her work
“I first visited Julie in 2022 for some sensory issues in my feet before traveling overseas. I had never had acupuncture before and was a little apprehensive. Julie was quick to respond to my enquiry and I was offered an appointment soon after. Once I met her my initial anxieties were quickly allayed. I have been back for further treatments over the last 2 years as I have found acupuncture a beneficial complementary therapy for my issues. Julie demonstrates expertise, experience and professionalism in her work. But she is also a friendly, caring person and has a great sense of humor too!”

Shen Adelaide is notable for having three acupuncturists, allowing it to offer many appointment slots. My wife often avails of their service because of her tight work schedule.
The three acupuncturists—Damon, Ivan, and Deborah—stand out for their comprehensive training in a variety of wellness techniques, which they skillfully integrate with acupuncture.
Many have praised their unique blend of talk therapy and acupuncture, which is particularly effective for addressing anxiety and addictions. Their acupuncture sessions are also refreshing and great for boosting energy levels.
My wife also appreciates the team’s good humor and friendly demeanor. Their communication is exceptional, ensuring clients always feel heard.
However, one downside is that their clinic is a bit small. Also, they sometimes respond only after a couple of days to their website’s inquiry form.
Very professional, a very kind and caring person
“I’ve been seeing Damian for the last 7 weeks for Acupuncture. I already had many improvements on the several health issues I have. Not only is Damian very professional but he is also a very kind and caring person that makes me feel at ease and totally relaxed. Thank you Damian.

Yihong Acupuncture Clinic is the go-to for my cousin who is a marathon runner. He regularly avails of dry needling acupuncture from the clinic, as it’s known to be especially good for athletes.
The clinic is led by Dr. Yihong who has over 35 years of clinical experience in acupuncture. She emphasizes the use of scientific and evidence-based methods rather than traditional Chinese ones.
The clinic’s acupuncture style is made to target myofascial trigger points or knots in the muscle and to complement other medical treatments. Many report it immediately reduced pain and faster recovery.
When it comes to their downsides, however, the clinic has limited appointment slots. Also, their rooms are small.
It changed our lives.
“There are no words to express how grateful I am to Rebecca for her incredible acupuncture treatment! My teenage daughter was so unwell for months and after so many blood tests and scans the medical specialists had no idea why and we reached a dead end. A friend then suggested trying acupuncture so my daughter and I went to Yihong Acupuncture Clinic. It changed our lives. Rebecca was friendly and compassionate and although it wasn’t a quick fix (understandably) Rebecca knew exactly what she was doing and we couldn’t have asked for a better outcome!!”

Rebecca made the pain go away
“I was in lots of pain. My hands are numb and my elbow. Also pain from my neck. After one session Rebecca made the pain go away just down to soreness now. Very patient and professional!”

Acumend is a great choice if you’re looking for cosmetic acupuncture. A friend shared how their acupuncture treatments significantly improved the appearance of her acne scars.
The clinic’s main acupuncturist is Dr. Sandra Phanthapangna who was trained in China. She’s a member of AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and AACMA (Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association).
My friend liked her kind disposition and attentiveness.
Furthermore, the clinic offers a relaxing environment, an accessible location with a car park, and spacious rooms.
That said, their appointment slots are limited. They also don’t have an online booking tool.
Great, perfect amount of pressure and relaxing vibe
“My mum got acupuncture from Sandy and was really happy with the results, instantly felt better and the service is lovely. I personally got a massage from Hollie and it was great, a perfect amount of pressure and a relaxing vibe. Highly recommend”

The location was perfect, right outside of the city
“I booked in a massage with Hollee as I have been experiencing bad back pain and sore neck from working.
The location was perfect as it was right outside of the city with their own carpark.
What a magical experience I had. Her methods sent me to ultimate relaxation as I booked a full body massage and I felt completely refreshed and 100x better.”
