If there’s a downside to them, one is that their fees are pricey. Also, I noticed that they didn’t respond to the contact forms I filled up on their website even after a week of waiting.

The Australian Rock & Metal Institute (ARMI) is a great choice for those interested in learning rock, heavy metal, and similar genres. Their teachers possess extensive experience in both performing and teaching these styles.

Upon reviewing their curriculum, I was glad to know that they balance the fundamentals of music theory and the free-flowing characteristics attributed to rock. They encourage composition and free-styling for students, which prepares them well for performing.

In terms of performances, the studio organizes numerous showcases with high production value, making the experience highly immersive for students.

Some students also commented on the courtesy and warmth of their teachers. The instructors encourage creativity and ensure that students feel comfortable and supported.

That said, one obvious downside with them is that they don’t offer classical music lessons. 

Another downside is that the instruments they teach are limited to the genres they specialize in. For example, they’re not the studio for those who want violin or sax lessons.

Learning Through Music has accessible studios. They have locations in Woodville, Walkerville, Klemzig, Seaton, and Maylands.

Their teaching approach is highly child-friendly, which is why the majority of their students are children. According to a friend of mine, the studio’s teachers are highly skilled in working with children of varying skill levels and temperaments.

Her child who often has a hard time concentrating had fast progress with learning the guitar. She said that the constant feedback from the teacher helped. 

I also noticed that their lesson books are comprehensive yet easy for children to understand. They feature colorful illustrations and helpful guides, making the learning materials more engaging and accessible.

However, a drawback is that their studios are small, which can make lessons feel somewhat cramped when they are at full capacity (about 30 students).

Additionally, Learning Through Music may not be the ideal choice for adult students, as their slots for this are limited.

Forte Music offers a fantastic teaching atmosphere due to their lively and energetic teachers, making them well-suited for children as young as 3 months old.

Their studios are child-friendly, featuring a variety of toys and colorful decorations to create a comfortable environment for children.

They also employ an effective teaching method that enhances musical, sensory, and kinesthetic skills in children using tools like shakers, ribbons, and more. 

Visual aids are incorporated to improve rhythmic skills, which are crucial to develop at a young age.

I also found their online lessons to be easily comprehensible for children, as they are straightforward and come with clear instructions, making practice sessions effortless.

Their teachers have formal music education, and some even have experience performing internationally. 

Many parents praise them for being great at teaching children because they’re approachable but still command authority.

However, Forte Music has received some complaints for not being able to follow up on some clients who contacted them.

Also, their Morphett Vale branch doesn’t have morning schedules for 3 days a week. 

Novar Music has been providing lessons for over 14 years, and their teachers have decades of experience.

They offer one of the broadest ranges of instruments taught, including piano and brass. Their individualized learning plans ensure that the pace of the lessons aligns with each student’s specific needs.

The center also provides plenty of showcase performances that have themes suitable for different age groups.

I also appreciate their well-designed Music Explorers lessons for children, which have comprehensive content. These lessons not only teach music skills but also focus on developing social and kinesthetic abilities.

A coworker of mine had her son attend these lessons, and she had high praise for how engaging they were. She also commended their effective coordination with parents regarding schedules.

In terms of areas for improvement, one is the number of available slots. We wish they would increase it, as they currently have limited availability. 

Additionally, their fees are a bit pricey.
