How We Reviewed

Instructor Experience and Qualifications: We checked whether the teaching teams include credentialed professionals with actual competitive or international backgrounds.

Class Variety and Progression Paths: We looked for broad curricula that offer realistic advancement steps and distinct style options.

Welcoming Atmosphere and Inclusivity: We prioritised places that actively welcome newcomers and let solo attendees join partner styles comfortably.

Pricing and Pass Flexibility: We favoured businesses that offer low-risk entry points like casual passes, trial sessions, and adaptable term blocks.

Performance and Social Opportunities: We looked at whether they host regular social nights, showcases, or competitions to keep students motivated.

Address: 615 Regency Rd, Broadview

Contact: 0434 468 447 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday: 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm; Saturday: 9 am to 5:30 pm

Empire Dance Studio provides a clear progression pathway. They start with preschool programs and continue through adult classes, private coaching, and audition-based competition teams.

One client we spoke with shared that her daughter had a great experience here, especially with how smoothly the younger students moved from introductory acrobatics into structured recreational jazz.

The studio has a highly qualified teaching team, which includes occupational therapists and childcare educators who can provide extra support for younger students.

You can book semi-private coaching to work on specific techniques outside regular classes.

The main catch is that competitive teams require a formal audition. Additionally, adult competition opportunities depend on experience and class availability.

Pros

  • Classes for preschoolers to adults
  • Faculty includes childcare educators
  • Semi-private coaching options available
  • Broad mix of recreational styles

Cons

  • Competitive teams require an audition
  • Adult competition options depend on availability

The best dance studio in Adelaide
They are the best dance studio in Adelaide for a reason! From the moment we made an enquiry, we were made to feel so welcomed. The team at Empire are so genuinely supportive of all children and all families, no matter what age or level they are – they are warmly greeted every single time they turn up. My son loves the boys hip hop crew, and he looks forward to training every week. Even though they have such highly experienced and knowledgeable teachers, I truly believe their outstanding results come from the culture of the studio itself…

Top-quality dance school
Both my daughter and son absolutely love Empire Dance Studio! It’s not just fun, they’ve grown so much in both their dance skills and confidence. My daughter began in Ready Set Dance and is now in her second season of competition. It has been incredible to see her development over just a few years.

Empire isn’t just a top-quality dance school, it truly feels like a supportive community and extended family. The teachers are passionate, welcoming, and genuinely care about the kids’ progress and wellbeing. We couldn’t be happier to be part of the Empire family!

Website: https://arthurmurrayadelaide.com.au/

Address: 26A Grote Street

Contact: (08) 8231 7552

Hours: Monday to Friday: 1 pm to 10 pm

Many strict curricula force you to learn dance styles you have zero interest in. Arthur Murray Dance Centre flips that approach by building personalised programs around your specific goals and preferred aesthetic.

They explicitly cater to absolute beginners, helping most new students move comfortably across the floor during their first session.

Their massive curriculum covers more than 30 partner styles, giving you plenty of room to experiment. You can move from Country Western and Swing to Latin Club, guided by certified instructors who adapt to your pace.

Couples prepping for a wedding can also get customised routines built for their big day.

Unfortunately, the studio is closed on weekends.

Still, if your weekdays are relatively flexible and you want a highly customised introduction to partner dancing, this central hub is an excellent starting point.

Pros

  • Curriculum features over 30 styles
  • Completely customised lesson plans
  • Certified instructional team
  • Dedicated wedding choreography

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

The community at the studio very supportive
It is hard to put into words what the Arthur Murray Adelaide team has done for me. As someone who has never danced before, I found their approach to instruction and the community at the studio very supportive. I particularly appreciate the level of stewardship and personalisation afforded by instructors during and outside of one on one lessons. They take into account your ambitions, timeframe and budget when planning your lessons and continuously update it as you evolve and change…

Absolutely stunning inside
My partner and I learnt our bridal waltz here and had the best time. The studio is absolutely stunning inside and the staff (particularly Lize and Morgan) were very welcoming and accomodating. Lize put so much effort into helping us perfect our first dance and ensuring we felt 100% comfortable with every step. Would highly recommend 🙂

Website: https://www.dancegenstudios.com.au/

Address: Level 2, 102 Gawler Place

Contact: (08) 8232 1922 | 0422 739 866 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday: 1 pm to 10 pm; Saturday: 11 am to 4 pm

Nobody wants to spend their tuition money getting lost at the back of a crowded room. To prevent that, Dance Generation caps their beginner groups at just 12 people, ensuring the instructor actually has time to correct your posture.

When we called about pricing, the staff cheerfully explained their low-commitment options, including an $18 casual pass for newcomers. This accessible pricing makes it easy to sample different rhythms before committing.

You can test out solo Latin sessions or combined Ballroom courses, and you never need to bring a partner.

Plus, they provide a welcoming alternative for adults who might feel out of place at strict ballet schools.

The limitation is that beginner terms end after the six-week block, so you must make up missed sessions quickly.

Pros

  • Beginner groups capped at 12 students
  • Affordable $18 casual pass
  • Solo Latin classes available
  • Make-up sessions offered within term

Cons

  • Beginner terms expire after six weeks

An amazing studio
Dance Gen is an amazing studio. We have been taking lessons here for over 3 years (finally posting a belated review) and find the instructors to be friendly, knowledgeable, and make the learning experience an absolute ball (pun intended). We also enjoy the regular social events to practice in a relaxed atmosphere, as well as make new friends. If you’ve been thinking about getting in to dance, preparing for a wedding, or just want to learn a few skills for social dancing then we couldn’t recommend this studio more highly! 🙂

The go to dance studio for ballroom, Latin and social dancing in Adelaide
Definitely recommend as the go to dance studio for ballroom, Latin and social dancing in Adelaide. The dance instructors are fantastic and cater for all ranges of dance experience from the newbie (used to be me) to the fancy (yet to be me) and everywhere in between (hopefully me). Welcoming, relaxing environment where the stress of life takes a back seat to music and dance. In the words of Lady Gaga, “Just dance… it’ll be okay, just dance”
