The 5 Best Cake Shops in Adelaide with Flavours Worth the Calories

Ingredient Quality: A beautiful centrepiece falls flat if it tastes like cardboard and artificial syrup. We checked whether the kitchens use genuine ingredients like real fruit, natural extracts, and fresh dairy.

Customisation Options: Corporate organisers and couples need dessert that matches their specific theme and guest list. We looked for bakers who accommodate custom flavour pairings, tier structures, and personalised designs.

Dietary Flexibility: Nothing ruins a party faster than a guest who can’t eat the dessert due to allergies. We prioritised shops that offer reliable gluten-free, vegan, or nut-free alternatives without sacrificing texture.

Logistics and Delivery: We reviewed their delivery zones, refrigerated transport options, and operating hours to ensure your order arrives safely.

The best cake shop in Adelaide can be a bit overwhelming to find with so many fantastic bakeries scattered across the city.

Sure, you can grab tasty cake slices at cute cafes or brunch spots. But if you want a full selection of must-try cakes, a dedicated bakery’s the way to go.

That’s why we’ve spent plenty of time searching for the perfect cakes for birthday parties, weddings, and even random Tuesday cravings. Keep scrolling to see our top picks in town that truly deliver on flavour and design!

Contact: 0406 633 552

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Saturday, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Cozy Cake Adelaide rescues last-minute hosts by keeping 15 to 20 fresh, scratch-made cakes ready for same-day walk-ins at their Grenfell Street counter.

Their pure baking approach skips commercial pre-mixes entirely, giving you proper grandma-style cakes and cupcakes that taste authentically homemade.

When a homeowner we interviewed needed a safe dessert for a kids’ party, she loved their strict nut-free and sesame-free facility.

They even schedule their daily baking around your requested pickup or delivery slot, so your dessert never sits on a shelf drying out.

The trade-off is that they don’t offer bespoke customisation, so you can’t add special icing messages or themed fondant figures to your order.

Still, if you need a delicious, safe, fresh cake on short notice, they’re a fantastic choice.

Pros

  • Fresh, scratch-made cakes available daily
  • Strict nut-free and sesame-free kitchen
  • Same-day walk-ins welcome
  • Flexible pickup and delivery scheduling

Cons

  • No bespoke customisation or icing messages

Scrumptious and amazing value

So delicious!!! Shop smells so yum and lady was so friendly and helpful!

I had a choc brownie grenache cake with extra chocolate sauce….omg, was scrumptious and amazing value too. Will definitely be back

The cakes are delicious and much cheaper

A great addition to the Adelaide CBD. It’s great to see the bakers baking in the back of the shop all day. The cakes are delicious and much cheaper than other super-fresh cake stores. Everyone’s so nice and happy, so it’s a great environment to go into. And the coffee is the best within walking distance. Definitely recommend.

Thanks to the team for making my friend’s birthday memorable

Ordered a birthday cake for my friend in Adelaide from overseas. My friends loved it and the photos they shared looked good. I can’t review the taste of the Persian Love Cake but would like to commend the service and prompt responses from their team.

I struggled to find a cake shop that could deliver and Azidelicious came through! Having a WhatsApp chat to help coordinate was very useful and all my queries and requests were answered and fulfilled.

Thanks to the team for making my friend’s birthday memorable

This is the best gluten-free cake I have ever eaten

On the 9/9/2021 I received a gift from a friend for the birth of our Son. The delivery driver politely presented a beautiful cake box with a gift card. Presentation was beautiful and professional. The cake was the Gluten Free Persian Love Cake with Cardamom and Rosewater. This is the best gluten free cake I have ever eaten. Sweetness was perfect, cook consistency also perfect along with a beautiful moist sponge that oozed with floral and citrus flavours. I am absolutely impressed and will most definitely order from this shop in the future. 10/10 Perfect.

Special cakes for family milestones

Five years ago on my wife’s 25th birthday, I stumbled upon this cake shop. We had ordered a similar cake with a long pink cake then and never needed to buy one again as our family always did.  Deep down, I knew this shop had a special place in my heart. Whenever a major milestone came up, I’d order a cake from them, supporting our local business.

Then came my wife’s 30th birthday. I ordered this beautiful cake. I gave Amanda a basic idea of the dress, stage background and so on, and she offered her expertise in cake colour.

Highly recommended wedding cakes

The team at Sugar & Spice cakes were incredibly friendly from the moment we stopped into their beautiful shop on Goodwood Road. All their cakes look amazing and taste even better; we faced a very difficult choice deciding which flavours we wanted for our wedding cake. When preparing our cake, they were even able to incorporate some of our florals which we loved.

All of our guests raved about the cake after the wedding. We highly recommend Sugar & Spice Cakes.
